Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the project-based learning model on student learning outcomes in circle material in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Taliwang for the 2024/2025 school year. This type of research is a quasi experimental design with the nonequivalent posttest only control group design. The population in this study is all grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Taliwang and the sample used is class VIII.4 as an experimental class and VIII.6 as a control class with the number of students in each class of 32 students selected using the cluster random sampling technique. The experimental class was treated with the application of a project-based learning model and the control class applied a conventional learning model. The research data collection technique uses test and observation techniques. The test instrument is in the form of a student learning outcome test (posttest) on circle material and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used the t-test. The results showed that there was a difference in the average learning outcomes of students who applied the project-based learning model, which was 91.2 and students who applied the conventional learning model, which was 68.2 The results showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class and the control class. The average score of the students in the experimental class was higher than in the control class. Thus, project-based learning has been proven to be effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes on circular materials.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe the mathematical representation abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 13 Mataram on the topic of Two-Variabel Linear Equation Systems (SPLDV), viewed from the introvert and extrovert personality types. A qualitative research method was used with descriptive approach. The subjects were chosen using purposive sampling and involved 4 students selected based on personality questionnaires and mathematical representation ability tests, followed by interview. Data was collected through non-tes instruments Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI), essay questions on mathematical representation ability test and interviews which is then analyzed descriptively to find out the differences in verbal, symbolic and visual representation abilities between introvert and extrovert students. The data analysis uses the interactive analysis model from Miles & Huberman. The results showed that introvert students have very good verbal and symbolic representation skills, but still weak in visual representation because none of them could answer correctly. Extrovert students also have good verbal and symbolic representation skills, more confident in answering, but less detailed and tend to rush. Just like introvert, extrovert students also couldn’t represent SPLDV visually in the right way. The main difficulty for both personality types is in converting the information in the problem into a visual representation caused by a lack of experience and practice in drawing graphs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecerdasan logis matematis dan Adversity Quotient (AQ) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Mataram tahun ajaran 2024/2025 baik secara parsial maupun simultan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian ex-post facto (kausal komparatif). Populasi penelitian ini adalah 435 orang siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Mataram tahun ajaran 2024/2025, dengan sampel sebanyak 105 orang siswa yang dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tes kecerdasan logis matematis, angket Adversity Quotient (AQ), dan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisi inferensial. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) terdapat pengaruh yang positif antara kecerdasan logis matematis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Mataram tahun ajaran 2024/2025 dengan kontribusi sebesar 35,1%; 2) terdapat pengaruh yang positif antara Adversity Quotient (AQ) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Mataram tahun ajaran 2024/2025 dengan kontribusi sebesar 23,1%; 3) terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan antara kecerdasan logis matematis Adversity Quotient (AQ) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Mataram tahun ajaran 2024/2025 dengan kontribusi sebesar 47,7%.

Abstract

The abstract nature of mathematics often makes students feel challenged, bored, and even anxious during the learning process. Therefore, mathematics learning should be interactive, enjoyable, and motivating. This study aimed to develop ethnomathematics-based comic learning media that connects the concept of cylindrical solid geometry with the traditional Sasak musical instrument Gendang Beleq to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of 29 seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Lingsar, consisting of 10 male and 19 female students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), but was limited to the Develop stage. Research instruments included validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The analysis focused on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the media. The results indicated that the developed comic media was categorized as “highly valid” with an average percentage of 81.73%, “highly practical” with an average percentage of 92.65%, and “effective” with an N-Gain score of 0.73 (high category). Furthermore, this media successfully increased students’ learning interest, reinforced contextual conceptual understanding, and fostered an appreciation of local culture. The visual and narrative presentation of the comic made the learning process more enjoyable and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ mathematical communication skills in the topic of two variable linear equation systems, viewed from the perspective of extrovert and introvert personality types among eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Labupi. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive method. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire, a test, and interview guidelines. Of the 34 students who completed the personality type questionnaire, 14 were identified as extroverts and 20 as introverts. Subsequently, the students were given a mathematical communication skills test. Based on the results, four research subjects were selected, consisting of two extroverted students and two introverted students. The qualitative data analysis used in this study consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that both high and low level extrovert students demonstrated good mathematical communication skills, as they were able to meet the indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely writing, reading, and mathematical expression. Extroverted students were more proficient in explaining problem solutions compared to introverted students. High-level introverted students also showed good mathematical communication skills, fulfilling the aspects of writing, reading, and mathematical expression. Meanwhile, low-level introverted students were only able to fulfill the writing aspect and still experienced difficulties in meeting the reading and mathematical expression aspects.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical problem-solving abilities on the Pythagorean theorem material in terms of gender. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of 3 male students and 3 female students. The instruments used in this study were a problem-solving ability test, and interview guidelines. Data were selected from 6 subjects out of 30 students based on each category of mathematical problem-solving ability level for in-depth interviews. The results showed that the mathematical problem-solving abilities of male students were more dominant than female students. Students with high mathematical problem-solving ability category are male students who are able to fulfill all stages of problem solving ability indicators (1) understanding the problem, (2) devising a plan, (3) carrying out the plan, and (4) looking back. Students with moderate mathematical problem-solving ability category are male and female students who can only carry out three stages of problem-solving ability indicators (1) understanding the problem, (2) devising a plan, (3) carrying out the plan but have not been able to go through the looking back stage. Students with low mathematical problem-solving ability category are female students who are only able to carry out two stages of problem-solving ability indicators (1) understanding the problem and (2) devising a plan, but have not been able to go through the carrying out the plan and looking back stages.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) bernuansa etnomatematika suku Sasak terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis posttest-only control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Suralaga tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu kelas VII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes tertulis dalam bentuk soal uraian. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan uji t dan uji effect size menggunakan rumus Cohen’s. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol, yaitu nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 78,25 dan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 69,50. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan model problem based learning (PBL) bernuansa etnomatematika suku Sasak terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Suralaga Tahun Ajaran . Hasil uji effect size menunjukkan nilai d = 0,665, artinya pengaruh yang diberikan termasuk dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

Kerajinan gerabah Banyumulek merupakan warisan budaya yang tidak hanya bernilai estetika saja tetapi mengandung konsep-konsep matematika yang dapat dianalisis dan dimanfaatkan dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan konsep matematika dalam pembuatan gerabah, mengidentifikasi konsep-konsep geometri yang terkandung dalam desain dan struktur gerabah, serta menjelaskan pemanfaatan etnomatematika dalam konteks kerajinan ini. Pendekatan etnomatematika digunakan untuk mengaitkan aspek budaya dengan pemahaman matematis, sehingga menghasilkan perspektif yang lebih kontekstual dan aplikatif bagi pendidikan matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep-konsep seperti geometri dan simetri ditemukan dalam berbagai bentuk gerabah Banyumulek. Selain itu, keterlibatan para pengrajin dalam praktik matematis secara tidak langsung memperkuat pentingnya pembelajaran berbasis budaya dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap matematika. Dengan demikian, integrasi etnomatematika dalam pendidikan dapat menjadi strategi yang efektif untuk menghubungkan aspek tradisional dan akademik guna memperkaya pengalaman belajar.
