Abstract

An expert system is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) designed to replicate the decision-making abilities of a human expert in a specific domain. It utilizes a rule-based approach by incorporating expert knowledge and experience into a computer system, allowing non-expert users to analyze and solve complex problems efficiently. One of the critical applications of expert systems is in the healthcare sector, especially in supporting early diagnosis of chronic diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus. Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels caused by insufficient insulin production or the body's inability to effectively use insulin. It is classified into two main types: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (Insulin Dependent) and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (Non-Insulin Dependent). Key factors contributing to the onset of diabetes include genetic predisposition, obesity, and unhealthy lifestyle habits. To assist the public in self-diagnosing the risk of diabetes, a web-based expert system was developed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), a structured decision-making method that helps prioritize multiple criteria. In this system, symptoms such as frequent thirst, weight loss, and family history of diabetes are assessed and weighted using AHP to determine a person's risk level. The system is implemented using PHP programming language and MySQL database. Users interact with the system by answering a set of predefined questions, and based on their responses, the system calculates and displays the diagnosis result with corresponding risk categories.This expert system aims to raise public awareness and provide an accessible tool for early detection and prevention of diabetes, especially in regions with limited access to healthcare professionals.

Abstract

Depressive disorders in the elderly often go undetected due to early symptoms that resemble normal aging processes. The absence of an early detection system becomes a major obstacle to prompt treatment. This study aims to design an expert system for early detection of depression in the elderly using the Certainty Factor (CF) method. The dataset was collected from 60 patient complaint narratives and validated by three professional psychologists with over five years of experience in geriatric psychiatry. The system design process includes symptom extraction using Natural Language Processing (NLP), CF value calculation for each symptom, and classification of depression risk (low, moderate, high). The system architecture consists of a knowledge base, inference engine, and user interface. Validation was conducted through diagnostic accuracy testing and user evaluation using a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The results showed a validity level of 73%, and 88.6% of respondents agreed that the system can assist in early diagnosis. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of NLP and Certainty Factor tailored to the narrative patterns of the elderly, combined with a user-friendly interface design. This system is expected to serve as a supportive tool for psychologists and families in the early detection of depression in elderly individuals.

Abstract

Bud rot disease in oil palm is one of the most serious threats that can significantly reduce productivity and even cause plant death if not detected early. To support a faster and more accurate diagnosis process, this study developed a web-based expert system that applies the Trend Moment method. The system is built on a knowledge base containing the main symptoms of the disease, including wilted and rotting young leaves (G001), foul odor from the bud (G002), easily detached young leaves due to decay (G003), and rotting crown with brown mucus (G004). The system is able to identify three types of diseases, namely bud rot, Phytophthora palmivora, and Erwinia spp.. The diagnosis process is carried out by calculating the weight of symptoms selected by the user and determining the most probable disease based on the highest Trend Moment value. Experimental results on 20 test cases showed that the system achieved an accuracy rate of 100% when compared with expert diagnoses. These findings indicate that the developed expert system has strong potential to be an effective tool for farmers and field extension workers in detecting and managing oil palm diseases at an early stage.

Abstract

he rapid development of information and computer technology has had a significant impact on various fields, including healthcare. One of its applications is the expert system, a computer-based system utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) designed to imitate the reasoning and decision-making abilities of human experts. Expert systems are widely used to assist in diagnosing diseases based on symptoms experienced by patients, providing fast, efficient, and accurate solutions without requiring direct consultation with medical professionals. This study focuses on developing an Expert System for Diagnosing Smoking-Related Diseases among Lecturers at Universitas Al Washliyah Labuhanbatu. The system aims to help users, particularly active smokers, identify potential diseases caused by smoking habits. Based on preliminary studies and interviews conducted with the Health Department of Rantauprapat City, it was found that common diseases suffered by smokers include oral disease, lung disease, respiratory disorders, throat disease, and heart disease. These illnesses often develop unnoticed in the early stages, making early diagnosis essential for prevention and health awareness. The research applies the Backward Chaining inference method, which works by reasoning backward from a possible conclusion (disease) to find supporting facts (symptoms). The relationship between symptoms and diseases is represented through IF–THEN rules derived from expert knowledge. The system was developed using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 as a web editor and MySQL as the database management system to store information on diseases, symptoms, and diagnostic results. The implementation results show that the system can provide early diagnoses quickly and accurately based on user-input symptoms. Furthermore, the system includes a confidence level feature that presents diagnostic certainty in percentage form. Hence, the developed expert system not only serves as a medical decision-support tool but also as a digital health education medium that promotes awareness of smoking dangers and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has significantly impacted various sectors, including education. One of the common problems encountered in the educational field is learning difficulties in children, which may arise from internal or external factors such as poor concentration, limited reading ability, writing difficulties, or challenges in arithmetic skills. Undetected learning difficulties can hinder a child’s potential development and reduce learning motivation. Therefore, an intelligent system is needed to assist counseling teachers and parents in conducting early and objective identification. This study aims to design and implement an Expert System for Identifying Children’s Learning Difficulties using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The AHP method was chosen due to its ability to assign priority weights to criteria and alternatives based on their level of importance. The study utilizes four main criteria: concentration (30%), reading ability (40%), writing ability (20%), and numerical ability (10%). The system was developed using a research and development (R&D) approach consisting of stages of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The results indicate that the developed expert system can provide accurate and consistent identification results compared to manual AHP calculations. System validation tests achieved an accuracy rate of 99%, demonstrating high reliability in the decision-making process. Furthermore, the system has proven effective in assisting teachers and parents in detecting potential learning difficulties at an early stage, enabling faster and more precise interventions.

Abstract

Kain tenun sarung Samarinda merupakan media  pada  nilai  seni budaya dan estetika yang tinggi dari berbagai motif yang dihasilkan. Kelangsungan tenun pada masyarakat kampung Baqa dan masjid perlu dipublikasikan. Sarung Samarinda merupakan budaya syiar Islam karena para laki-laki sudah banyak  memakai untuk beribadah, dalam tindakan nyata berupaya melestarikan nilai budaya tenun dengan menghasilkan berbagai kreasi motif dan pembaharuan dalam kualitas. Tujuan untuk mengetahui strategi Pelestarian seni budaya melalui home Industri Tenun Samarinda Penelitian ini dilaksanakan kampung tenun Samarinda Seberang kelurahan Baqa dan Masjid. Metode yang digunakan dalam  jenis  penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif yakni menjelaskan dengan rinci melalui analisis yang mendalam mengenai subjek diteliti. Hasil penelitian strategi edukatif, ini dilakukan oleh setiap keluarga dari generasi pengrajin tenun dengan menggunakan metode lisan, misalnya diajarkan cara merawat alat tenun hingga penggunaannya. Ini dilakukan ketika anak sudah beranjak dewasa. Strategi Investasi Biologis, strategi ini dilakukan oleh penenun Samarinda dengan cara mengontrol jumlah keturunan agar kebutuhan ekonomi tetap stabil dan pengrajin tidak  mencari pekerjaan lain. Namun  tuntutan ekonomi anak pengrajin  mencari pekerjaan yang lebih cepat dapat penghasilan. Strategi investasi Ekonomi,Strategi ini dilakukan penenun dengan cara mengontrol kebutuhan ekonomi tetap stabil dan menjaga kualitas, maka akan berdampak baik terhadap pandangan dan minat pelanggan untuk memesan sarung tenun.

Abstract

Regional conditions The indigenous people of Tanjung Medan have a long tradition of using local plants as medicine for various diseases, including fever, cough, diarrhea, cancer, and diabetes. The people of Tanjung Medan use a variety of plants—up to 163 species from 56 families—to treat about 23 types of diseases. It is widely used to cure supernatural and natural diseases such as fever, cough, diarrhea, cancer, and diabetes. The dominant plant families include Zingiberaceae (ginger) and Rutaceae. But it is a problem of many neglected and even lost medicinal plants and medicine traditions now among the people of Tanjung Medan, especially in the current generation Z. The method used is participatory-based counseling which includes educational lectures, leaflet distribution, and question and answer sessions. The material presented included drug classification, how to obtain drugs legally, the use of drugs according to the rules, correct storage, and safe disposal of drugs. The results of the activity showed high enthusiasm from the participants and increased their understanding of drug management at home. The question and answer session showed the activeness of the participants and became an indicator of the success of the delivery of the material. The DAGUSIBU program has proven to be relevant in increasing public health literacy and supporting efforts to prevent the abuse of chemical drugs, but it is better to use traditional medicine from processed plants themselves. This kind of education is expected to shape a wiser, more responsible, and rational community behavior in the use of drugs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh Total Quality Management terhadap kinerja manajerial dan kepemimpinan. Untuk menganalisis pengaruh kepemimpinan terhadap kinerja Manajerial. Dan untuk menganalisis pengaruh Total Quality Management terhadap kinerja manajerial melalui kepemimpinan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pegawai struktural PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Pembangkitan Sumatera Bagian Utara sebanyak 304 orang. Sedangkan sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 173 orang. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) PLS. Temuan penelitian ini memperlihatkan TQM berpengaruh terhadap kinerja manajerial. TQM berpengaruh terhadap kepemimpinan. Kepemimpinan memiliki pengaruh positif secara langsung terhadap kinerja manajerial. TQM berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja manajerial melalui kepemimpinan. Artinya, apabila TQM perusahaan menguat sebesar satu skala satuan, dan dengan meningkatnya kepemimpinan maka meningkatkan kinerja manajerial. Sebaliknya, apabila TQM dan kepemimpinan melemah sebesar satu skala satuan, maka secara langsung juga akan menyebabkan melemahnya kinerja manajerial.

Abstract

This study examines the educational media used by the Prophet Muhammad within the framework of modern educational theory and its relevance for contemporary learning practices. This research aims to identify the types of media applied by the Prophet, analyze their alignment with current instructional concepts, and highlight their potential contribution to the development of education grounded in Islamic values. This research employs a library-based qualitative approach, with data validity ensured through credibility and dependability techniques, and content analysis used to interpret the collected data. The findings reveal that the Prophet Muhammad utilized a range of instructional media, including human-based media (gestures, physical demonstration, and role modeling), visual media (natural phenomena such as the sun, moon, trees, and rainfall), and audio media. These forms of media, although simple, effectively supported learning and reflect pedagogical principles remarkably consistent with modern instructional frameworks. The study concludes that the Prophet’s pedagogical practices offer a foundational model that predates modern theory and provides valuable insights for enhancing contemporary instructional media design. The novelty of this research lies in its systematic comparison between prophetic media practices and current educational theory, demonstrating their continued relevance. Practically, the study encourages educators and institutions to adopt multimodal, contextual, and learner-centered media approaches inspired by prophetic teaching strategies to improve instructional effectiveness today.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kader Posyandu memiliki peran strategis dalam kesehatan masyarakat, namun seringkali belum memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup mengenai pemanfaatan tanaman herbal lokal untuk pertolongan pertama, salah satunya adalah Patikan Kebo (Euphorbia hirta). Tanaman ini tumbuh liar di Desa Tanakaraeng dan secara empiris dapat digunakan untuk menghentikan perdarahan pada luka. Luka yang tidak ditangani dengan baik dapat menimbulkan risiko infeksi dan komplikasi lain. Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah untuk memberdayakan kader Posyandu melalui peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam mengolah tanaman Patikan Kebo menjadi sediaan topikal untuk penyembuhan luka. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 15 orang kader Posyandu Desa Tanakaraeng. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung, dengan evaluasi menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan kader secara signifikan sebesar 42,50% setelah diberikan edukasi dan pelatihan. Seluruh peserta (100%) berhasil mempraktikkan cara pengolahan Patikan Kebo menjadi sediaan topikal sederhana. Sebagai kesimpulan, kegiatan PKM ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader Posyandu Desa Tanakaraeng dalam memanfaatkan Patikan Kebo sebagai alternatif pertolongan pertama pada luka. Kata Kunci: Pemberdayaan Kader, Patikan Kebo, Luka, Sediaan Topikal.  ABSTRACT Posyandu cadres have a strategic role in public health, but often lack sufficient knowledge regarding the use of local herbal plants for first aid, one of which is Patikan Kebo (Euphorbia hirta). This plant grows wild in Tanakaraeng Village and can empirically be used to stop bleeding in wounds. Improperly treated wounds can pose a risk of infection and other complications. This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to empower Posyandu cadres by increasing their knowledge and skills in processing the Patikan Kebo plant into a topical preparation for wound healing. This activity was attended by 15 Posyandu cadres from Tanakaraeng Village. The methods used were counseling, demonstration, and hands-on practice, with evaluation using a pre-test and post-test. The results showed a significant increase in cadres' knowledge by 42.50% after the education and training. All participants (100%) successfully practiced how to process Patikan Kebo into a simple topical preparation. In conclusion, this community service activity proved effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres in Tanakaraeng Village in utilizing Patikan Kebo as a first aid alternative for wounds. Keywords: Cadre Empowerment, Patikan Kebo, Wounds, Topical Preparation.
