Abstract

“Folklore” is Taylor Swift’s eighth studio album that talks about her personal life, ideal relationship, woman, an inspirational figure, childhood memory and a fiction love story of teenage love triangle. This album consists of 18 songs, and the researcher selects 14 songs to be analyzed. This study aims to analyze the figurative language of the lyrics of the selected songs. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive method to applied in this study. The researcher analyzes the type and the meaning of the lyrics of the songs. This research produced several findings. There are 29 figurative language that contain in the 14 selected songs which divided into four allegory, two simile, four symbol, two metonymy, two metaphor, three personification, two synecdoche, three hyperbole, one irony, three paradox, one apostrophe, and two litotes. The researcher found that the figurative language is most found in the songs titled “Cardigan” and “Invisible Strings” which has four for each of them and then “Peace” which has three and then The 1, and “The Last Great American Dynasty”, “My Tears Ricochet”, “Seven”, This is Me Trying”, “Illicit Affairs” and “Mad Women” which has two for each of them and then “Exile”, “Mirrorball”, “August” and “Betty” which has one for each of them. In conclusion, this album contains many Figurative Language and used every 12 types of figurative language. There are many meaning of the figurative language in the album, most of them to express feelings and to define something.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mahasiswa Politeknik Kelautan dan Perikanan Bone melalui pelatihan TOEFL selama lima hari. Pelatihan melibatkan 350 mahasiswa, 8 kelas, dan 8 pengajar, menggunakan metode simulasi tes, pembahasan soal, dan strategi pengerjaan efektif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan skor TOEFL rata-rata sebesar 25-30 poin, peningkatan pemahaman format tes, serta strategi pengerjaan yang lebih baik. Meskipun terdapat kendala teknis, program ini berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan bahasa Inggris mahasiswa untuk kebutuhan akademik dan profesional. Kegiatan ini mendukung upaya peningkatan kualitas sumber daya manusia di bidang kelautan dan perikanan.

Abstract

Angka kesakitan atau kematian yang disebabkan oleh Alzheimer (ALZHEIMER) mencapai sekitar 63% dari seluruh kematian. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai setelah pengabdian ini adalah hasil akhir dari sosialisasi ini adalah minimal 70% peserta dapat memahami cara mendeteksi, mendiagnosis dan mengobati Alzheimer (ALZHEIMER). (3) Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini melalui sosialisasi kepada masyarakat di Kecamatan Rappocini bekerjasama dengan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Negeri Makassar, Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) desa batetanga. Pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui sosialisasi. Monitoring dan evaluasi dilakukan dalam bentuk angket yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah sosialisasi. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah telah adanya sosialisasi dan peningkatan nilai jawaban benar pada sosialisasi dari 40% menjadi 80%

Abstract

"Moxie" movie stands out for its focus on youth experiences with gender inequality, shedding light on evolving gender dynamics. This research investigates gender inequality and women's struggles against it as portrayed in the movie "Moxie." The study aims to answer two key questions: 1) What types of gender inequality are depicted in the movie? 2) How do women struggle against gender inequality in the film?. Utilizing "Moxie" as a cultural representation and source of data, the study employed qualitative research methods, data were collected from the movie transcript and supplemented with information from diverse sources. Data analysis techniques by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana were applied, which is data condensation, data display, conclusion drawing/ verification. The findings revealed 37 extracts categorized into five types of gender inequality: marginalization, subordination, stereotyping, violence, and double burden. There are 4 extracts containing cases of marginalization, 2 extracts of subordination, 2 extracts of stereotyping, 6 extracts of violence, and one extract for double burden. There are 21 extracts that relate to women’s struggles, which are  9 extracts about women intellectuals, there are 3 extracts relating to herself, there are 9 extracts relating to women actualizing themselves. Violence emerged as the most prevalent, while double burden was the least frequent. Women's struggles encompassed 21 extracts which are 9 extracts of a woman intellectual, to be herself (3 extracts), and women actualize themselves (9 extracts).

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam mengimplementasikan English Medium Instruction (EMI) di SMA Negeri 5 Gowa, guna membentuk pengajaran yang kompetitif dan berkualitas sesuai standar global. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research yang melibatkan 23 guru dalam serangkaian pelatihan intensif, mentoring, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan bahasa Inggris, pengelolaan kelas, serta kesiapan guru dalam menggunakan EMI, dengan peningkatan rata-rata skor post-test sebesar +1.2 hingga +1.4. Selain itu, komitmen dan keterlibatan manajemen sekolah dalam mendukung EMI juga mengalami peningkatan, menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih kondusif bagi keberlanjutan program. Program ini efektif dalam membekali guru dengan keterampilan dan strategi mengajar dalam bahasa Inggris, serta mendorong komitmen institusi untuk memastikan keberhasilan implementasi EMI. Untuk keberlanjutan, direkomendasikan adanya dukungan berkelanjutan dan peningkatan akses terhadap sumber daya digital di sekolah.

Abstract

Vocabulary acquisition is a fundamental aspect of mastering a foreign language, particularly for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. However, many students face significant challenges in building their vocabulary, which hinders their ability to communicate effectively. Traditional teaching methods, such as L1 translation, memorization, and contextual guessing, are often inadequate, especially for beginners, as they fail to sustain long-term retention and engagement. This paper explores the limitations of these approaches and proposes the integration of games as an effective solution for vocabulary teaching. Games provide an engaging, interactive, and student-centered learning environment that fosters intrinsic motivation, encourages communication in real-life contexts, and reduces learner anxiety. The study highlights the benefits of using games to address the challenges in vocabulary acquisition, emphasizing their potential to create memorable learning experiences, enhance student participation, and promote sustained language development. By analyzing existing literature and the researchers’ teaching experience, this paper underscores the importance of innovative strategies to motivate EFL learners and improve their vocabulary acquisition.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the mental disorders experienced by Artuhur Fleck and the causes of mental disorders experienced by Arthur Fleck. The main source of data for this research is the movie Joker (2019). Joker (2019) directed by Todd Philips and produced by Todd Philips, Bradley Cooper, and Emma Tilinger Koskoff. In this study, researchers examined mental disorders in joker movies through the character of Arthur Fleck. In researching mental disorders, researchers use the theory of Sigmund Freud (1900). The research method used is qualitative descriptive. This means that the data used in this study is qualitative data (data that does not consist of numbers) in the form of words and images that can be the key to what is being researched. Then the existing data is described from a number of aspects and signs or semiotics in a number of scenes. For example, in terms of the emotions that appear in a scene, the facial expressions of the actors, the dialogues conveyed by the actors.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the religious meaning and the values of Islamic education within the tradition of Yasinan Lanang and Manakib Toriqoh Attijani, as well as to analyze how this activity strengthens the social and spiritual bonds among male participants in Mertapada Kulon Village, Buntet Pesantren. This study employs a qualitative-phenomenological approach. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using thematic analysis to explore the subjective experiences of the participants. The core findings indicate that this tradition serves not only as a routine ritual but also as an authentic space for spiritual and social education. It functions to foster inner peace, strengthen religious awareness, reinforce community solidarity through shared responsibilities, and act as a subtle form of social control based on Islamic moral values. The conclusion is that the Yasinan Lanang and Manakib tradition is a tangible manifestation of community-based non-formal religious education that effectively preserves and transmits Islamic values, while also highlighting the significant spiritual role of men within the community

Abstract

Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) pada Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) di Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Pancaran Kasih dan Sayange Cirebon pada dasarnya harus dilakukan sesuai dengan ketentuan pada umumnya, namun memiliki perbedaan yang besar terkait kondisi siswa yang berbeda tingkat kecerdasan intelegensi dan sosial dengan anak seusianya secara umum. Tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan faktor pendukung dan penghambat pembelajaran PAI di SLB Pancaran Kasih dan SLB Sayange Cirebon. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi yang selanjutnya dianalisis dengan reduksi, penyajian dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: 1. Perencanaan pembelajaran dilakukan dengan cara membuat Program pembelajaran Individual (PPI) yang pada prinsipnya sama dengan Rencana Pelaksaaan Pembelajaran (RPP) hanya saja terdapat sejumlah adaptasi sesuai dengan kebutuhan. 2. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran untuk ABK membutuhkan guru dengan kualifikasi sarjana akan tetapi memiliki keterampilan dan sikap khusus berkaitan dengan ABK. 3. faktor penghambat pelaksanaan pembelajaran pendidikan agama islam bagi ABK di kedua sekolah tersebut yaitu: faktor internal, Kurangnya fokus pada saat proses pembelajaran dan faktor eksternal, Kurangnya pengajar faktor pendukung yaitu: faktor internal, Kerja sama antara sesama guru untuk selalu memotivasi siswa dan faktor eksternal, motivasi keluarga yang selalu mendukung anaknya. Abstract

Menggunakan media pembelajaran sejak awal sangat efektif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman materi. Media pembelajaran juga mampu meningkatkan minat dan motivasi siswa. Ketika siswa tertarik dan memanfaatkan media pembelajaran, hasil belajar mereka cenderung meningkat. Dengan kata lain, media pembelajaran berkaitan erat dengan minat dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh media pembelajaran berbasis Android terhadap minat belajar dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Fiqih kelas X. Peneliti menggunakan metode kuantitatif Research and Development dengan mengumpulkan data melalui kuesioner serta pretest dan posttest, kemudian menganalisisnya menggunakan regresi sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis Android termasuk dalam kategori baik dengan skor 89,8%. Minat belajar siswa juga berada dalam kategori baik dengan skor 81,2%. Hasil belajar siswa menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen pada pretest adalah 38,24 dan meningkat menjadi 83,09 pada posttest. Sementara itu, di kelas kontrol, nilai rata-rata pretest adalah 38,24 dan posttest adalah 59,71. Ada pengaruh pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis Android terhadap minat belajar siswa dengan korelasi sebesar 23,4%, yang menunjukkan korelasi rendah. Selain itu, pengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa juga memiliki korelasi sebesar 23,8%, yang juga menunjukkan korelasi rendah.
