Abstract

This study aims to analyze Generation Z's digital communication strategies through linguistic creativity in comments on the TikTok platform from a pragmatic perspective. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with pragmatic analysis. The research data was obtained from comments on a number of popular accounts that are widely accessed by Generation Z. The results of the study show that linguistic creativity functions as a pragmatic strategy that supports communication efficiency, affirms group identity, and strengthens social relationships between users. Furthermore, the use of language with a sense of solidarity shows that digital communication not only functions as a means of information exchange but also as an instrument for forming social closeness and self-expression. Thus, this study confirms that Generation Z's digital communication on TikTok plays an important role in shaping identity, social networks, and contemporary language culture.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the experiences of working students in undergoing hybrid learning, which is increasingly being implemented in higher education institutions. Working students often face challenges in dividing their time between work and study, which can lead to dual role conflicts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and documentation, then analysed using thematic analysis to identify relevant patterns of experience. The results show that the main challenges faced by working students include time management, limited access to technology, and schedule conflicts between work and lectures. However, support from the work environment and campus institutions, as well as strategies such as online group learning, help them overcome these obstacles. These findings emphasise the importance of inclusive campus policies, flexible class schedules, and the provision of asynchronous learning materials. In practical terms, this study recommends collaboration between the world of work and higher education to create a learning environment that supports the academic success of working students without disrupting their professional performance.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze linguistic aspects in cooperation agreement letters, particularly the use of legal terms, sentence coherence, and emphasis through linguistic elements such as bolding and quotation marks. Data were collected from several cooperation agreements in the health sector and analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results show that legal terms such as "First Party," "Second Party," as well as Force Majeure and breach of contract clauses must be consistently structured to ensure legal certainty and prevent misinterpretation. The use of linguistic elements such as conditional sentences, bolding, and quotation marks helps clarify meaning and strengthen the message in the document. Moreover, this research affirms that linguistic aspects play a significant role in supporting the clarity and readability of legal documents, which has implications for law enforcement and reducing the risk of disputes. The recommendation from this research is the need for a balance between linguistic and legal approaches in drafting cooperation agreements to make documents more effective and legally valid

Abstract

Communication is the process of conveying information between two or more parties, encompassing both verbal and non-verbal communication. In the entertainment industry, verbal communication often takes center stage; however, recently, sign language as a form of non-verbal communication has gained increasing appreciation. Sign language is not only used by the deaf community but has also become a symbol of diversity. This research aims to analyze audience perceptions of the use of sign language and verbal communication in the drama Twinkling Watermelon. This study is categorized as qualitative descriptive research. Qualitative research as a particular tradition in social sciences that fundamentally relies on observing humans in their own environment and interacting with them in their own language and terminology. The research techniques utilized include observation, analysis, and documentation in the form of images from scenes in Twinkling Watermelon. The results indicate that viewers hold a positive view of sign language, perceiving it as enhancing awareness of the importance of inclusivity. The use of sign language in this drama underscores that deafness is not a deficiency, but rather a difference that deserves respect. Abstract

This study explores the influence of TikTok on the language development of Generation Alpha in Indonesia, a generation born after 2010 and raised in a digital environment. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research employs in-depth interviews, observation, and content analysis to examine how TikTok affects vocabulary, the emergence of new terms, and communication patterns. The findings reveal that TikTok contributes to the rise of neologisms and slang terms such as "rizz," "brainrot," and "sigma," which have quickly spread among Generation Alpha. This trend enriches vocabulary while also driving changes in formal language norms, although concerns remain regarding a decline in formal language proficiency. This study provides insights into the dynamics of language in the digital age and its implications for language education policy

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the representation of authoritarianism in the Kutai folklore titled Punang, focusing on both the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of the text. Through this story, it becomes evident how power and customary laws influence the social life of the community, particularly the pressure faced by King Buy to marry in order to produce offspring. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a hermeneutic and narrative approach to reveal messages of authoritarianism within the story. The findings indicate the presence of cultural authoritarianism, as seen in how leaders are expected to submit to collective decisions and customary laws that regulate individual freedom. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of regional literature and demonstrates how traditional norms can shape power structures and social legitimacy within local communities.

Abstract

In the One Piece series, Roronoa Zoro's loyalty to Monkey D. Luffy is not just a comradeship, but a strong bond of brotherhood. This research explores the importance of fostering individual trust and commitment in facing common challenges. Through the analysis of dialogue and interaction between Zoro and Luffy, this research reveals that the representation of loyalty serves as a social construct that is reflected in the actions and communication of characters. Using a critical discourse analysis and narrative study approach, the study examined five episodes in the Thriller Bark Arc and several other episodes, highlighting key moments that demonstrate Zoro's dedication. The technique used is qualitative descriptive, through four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis show that Zoro's loyalty is influenced by the personal code of honor, the promise to Kuina, the respect for Luffy, as well as the shared experience that strengthens the emotional bond. This loyalty inspires readers about the true meaning of commitment and friendship in the context of popular culture, making it a vivid example of values that are widely accepted among a global audience

Abstract

This study examines the role of verbal and non-verbal communication in peer social support and its impact on student resilience, an area that is still rarely studied. Academic and social challenges during lectures demand high resilience, and peer support is believed to strengthen this resilience. This study uses a quantitative approach and survey method, data from 15-20 students of various study programs at the Balikpapan College of Economics was collected through an online questionnaire covering aspects of demography, communication, and resilience. The analysis of the research data was carried out in a descriptive manner. The results showed that verbal communication, such as motivation, as well as non-verbal communication, such as eye contact, were significant in supporting resilience. The combination of these two forms of communication helps students cope with academic stress. These findings propose a communication-based mentoring program in educational institutions to improve student resilience and psychological well-being

Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of the lives of young people, bringing a significant impact on the language they use daily. This study aims to analyze how social media affects changes in structure and vocabulary in Indonesian, as well as foreign language adaptations enrich or change language use among the younger generation. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 30 participants selected using purosive sampling techniques. The data was analyzed thematically using N-Vivo qualitative analysis software. The results of the study show that there is a tendency to use foreign words, abbreviations, and new phrases that were previously uncommon in Indonesian. In addition, the sentence structure has also undergone adjustments, especially in the context of informal communication. These findings show that although social media provides flexibility in the use of language, there is a risk of deterioration in the quality of formal language if it is not balanced with a good understanding of standard Indonesian. This research is expected to provide insight for policymakers, educators, and the wider community about the need for language education that balances creativity with maintaining the integrity of the Indonesian language
