Abstract

Kata Kunci: promosi kesehatan, hipertensi, asam urat, berbasis masyarakat, car free day, deteksi dini

Abstract

Background: The postpartum period is a critical phase characterized by significant emotional and psychological transformations Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of breastfeeding self-efficacy and multiparity on the emotional adjustment of postpartum mothers Method: The research design used was a cross-sectional study to collect data from 101 Breastfeeding mothers. The sample consisted of all postpartum mothers who gave breastmilk. The inclusion criteria were gestational age of at least in women with a singleton pregnancy, 34 weeks, no breast abnormalities, and no smoking or alcohol consumption. Mothers and infants who need special care were excluded. The BSE Scale-Short Form questionnaire was used to collect data. This used crosstabulation, chi-square testing, and regression to evaluate the data to clearly and formally describe the statistical analyses performed. Results: The results showed that mothers with high BSE were much more likely to say they were emotionally stable, with an odds ratio (OR) of 12.54 (p <.001), which means there was a strong connection between BSE and emotional adjustment through multiparity. The crosstab analysis showed that multiparity was likewise statistically significant (p = .000), but when BSE was controlled, regression showed that its effect was not significant (p = .558). Conclusion: The study concludes that breastfeeding self-efficacy is more important than multiparity in determining how well a mother adjusts emotionally after giving birth. Interventions that build BSE may help new mothers feel better emotionally.  Keywords: Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy; Emotional Adjustment; multiparity; postpartum

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension remains one of the most prevalent public health issues globally, demanding not only curative but also preventive and promotive strategies. Community-based health promotion programs have emerged as a vital approach to increasing awareness, literacy, and behavioral change to prevent hypertension. Methods: This study employed a qualitative method through a systematic literature review of national and international publications from 2020 to 2025. The selected sources were analyzed thematically to identify social dynamics, intervention models, and determinants of program success. Data analysis involved reduction, display, and interpretation to construct a conceptual model explaining how community-based promotion enhances prevention literacy. Results: The findings indicate that the effectiveness of community-based programs depends on active participation, leadership, resource availability, and integration with primary health services. Empowerment-based education improved knowledge, modified risky behavior, and strengthened cooperation between communities and health workers. The use of digital technologies, such as mobile health applications and social media, expands educational outreach and engagement. Conclusion: Community-based health promotion is a transformative strategy for building awareness, empowerment, and self-reliance in hypertension prevention. Cross-sector collaboration and technology-driven innovation are essential to achieving sustainable outcomes. It is recommended that policymakers and health practitioners strengthen digital literacy, allocate continuous funding, and institutionalize participatory community programs to ensure long-term impact.

Abstract

Introduction: HIV/AIDS remains a critical public health issue in Makassar, with increasing cases reported across key populations, including transgender commercial sex workers (waria). Surveillance data indicate substantial HIV prevalence among waria, while behavioral factors such as limited knowledge, inconsistent preventive practices, and high-risk sexual networks contribute to ongoing transmission. This study explores the knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviors of transgender sex workers regarding HIV/AIDS. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted in 2011 along Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan, Makassar. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document review involving eight informants: seven transgender sex workers and one outreach worker from an NGO. Data were analyzed through reduction, narrative presentation, and thematic interpretation. Result: findings show that informants entered sex work due to early socialization, environmental influence, perceived enjoyment, and economic motives. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS varied; most informants recognized HIV as a virus that weakens the immune system, yet many were unable to differentiate clearly between causes and transmission routes. Attitudes toward peers living with HIV were generally positive, reflected by emotional support and encouragement to seek treatment. However, attitudes toward clients remained risky, with informants willing to engage in sexual activity even when clients showed symptoms of sexually transmitted infections. Preventive behaviors were inconsistent; although many preferred condom use, compliance depended heavily on client willingness. Self-treatment using non-prescribed medications was common, and formal healthcare utilization was limited. Conclusion: Transgender sex workers demonstrated partial understanding and inconsistent preventive practices related to HIV/AIDS. Strengthened health promotion, improved risk perception, and greater access to supportive services are essential to enhance safer behaviors and reduce HIV transmission within this population.

Abstract

Introduction: Medication counseling is an essential component of patient-centered pharmaceutical care, contributing to medication safety, adherence, and patient satisfaction. In hospital pharmacy settings, counseling practices are often influenced by workload and service constraints, resulting in variability in counseling frequency. Understanding how patients perceive and interpret the frequency of medication counseling is therefore important for improving the quality of pharmacy services. This study aimed to explore patients’ perceptions of the frequency of medication counseling provided by pharmacists and to examine its role in shaping patient satisfaction within a hospital pharmacy setting. Research Methodology: A qualitative case study design was employed at the pharmacy installation of a regional general hospital in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with patients, pharmacists, and supporting staff, complemented by non-participant observations and document review. Participants were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed thematically through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, with credibility ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. Results: The findings revealed that medication counseling frequency was delivered inconsistently and varied according to workload, patient volume, and medication characteristics. Patients perceived frequent counseling as a sign of professional care that enhanced understanding, confidence, and trust in pharmacists. Consistent counseling contributed positively to patient satisfaction, whereas limited counseling led to uncertainty in medication use. Organizational factors, such as staffing limitations and service flow, were identified as key constraints on counseling practices. Conclusion: Medication counseling frequency is a meaningful experiential factor that shapes patient satisfaction and the quality of pharmacist-patient interactions. Strengthening counseling consistency through organizational support and standardized practices may improve patient-centered pharmaceutical care in hospital settings.

Abstract

Introduction: HIV and AIDS are known to have become an emergency problem around the world, where infection transmission, morbidity rates, and mortality rates are still high. The existence of the HIV/AIDS epidemic is one of the scary scourges in the community because of its unexpected transmission by HIV due to human behavior. Objective: This study aims to analyze social determinants with quality of life in people with HIV/AIDS in the Voluntary Counseling and Testing Clinic. Methods: This study is an analytical study using a cross-sectional study research design. The population in this study is all HIV/AIDS patients domiciled in Kendari City. The sample consisted of 177 respondents, determined by simple random sampling. Data analysis uses the chi-square test and the multiple logistics test. Result: The results of the study showed that there was a stigma relationship with Odhiv's quality of life at the VCT Clinic of Kendari City Hospital (p = 0.000) and there was a relationship between social support and Odhiv's quality of life at the VCT Clinic of Kendari City Hospital (p = 0.000). The variable that has the greatest influence on the quality of life of ODHIV is the social support variable with an OR of 0.353. Conclusion: The variable that has the greatest influence on the quality of life of People with HIV/AIDS (ODHIV) is social support. Social support has proven to be a very significant factor in improving the quality of life of people living with HIV. Individuals with strong social support, whether from family, friends, or the community, tend to have a better quality of life than those who receive less social support. Social support plays a role in helping people with HIV cope with stigma, reduce psychological pressure, and provide a sense of security and comfort that can have a positive impact on their physical and mental well-being.
