Abstract

Vocabulary plays a vital role in language acquisition, especially for students studying English as a Foreign Language (EFL), as it significantly affects their comprehension, communication skills, and academic success. However, students in Islamic junior high schools encounter unique challenges due to their exposure to multiple languages and the integration of religious themes, which are often not addressed in current research. This research aims to investigate the vocabulary learning strategies used by students at MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya, along with the challenges they face. A mixed-methods approach was employed, gathering data through questionnaires, interviews, and classroom observations. The results indicate that cognitive and social strategies are the most commonly utilized, while challenges include difficulties with vocabulary retention, pronunciation issues, and language interference. The study concludes that integrating contextually and culturally relevant approaches into vocabulary teaching can improve student learning and retention, especially in religious educational contexts.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengenalkan kebudayaan Kalimantan Tengah kepada siswa kelas V di MI Miftahul Huda 2 Palangka Raya dengan menggunakan pendekatan yang inovatif melalui pemanfaatan Book Creator. Melalui pemanfaatan aplikasi ini, peserta didik memperoleh kesempatan untuk mengeksplorasi kebudayaan Kalimantan Tengah melalui pengalaman belajar yang bersifat interaktif dan bermakna. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) yang menekankan pada pemanfaatan aset dan potensi yang dimiliki oleh komunitas sekolah dan lingkungan sekitar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pemetaan aset, diskusi kelompok terarah, wawancara, serta pelibatan aktif siswa dan guru dalam pengembangan konten budaya digital. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa integrasi Book Creator sebagai media digital pembelajaran mampu mengakselerasi minat dan keterlibatan siswa dalam memahami konten budaya lokal sekaligus meningkatkan kompetensi bahasa asing mereka. Lebih dari sekadar alat bantu, kehadiran teknologi dalam proses pedagogis terbukti merekonstruksi dinamika kelas menjadi lebih kontekstual, partisipatif, dan selaras dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran abad ke-21. Dengan demikian, pengenalan budaya Kalimantan Tengah melalui media digital ini berperan penting dalam melestarikan kebudayaan lokal dan meningkatkan keterampilan bahasa Inggris siswa.

Abstract

This collaborative Community Service activity aims to enhance digital literacy among elementary school students by developing interactive teaching materials based on Canva and Wordwall at SDN 1 Menteng. The activity was carried out using the ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development) approach, which emphasizes utilizing assets and potential within the community. The activity stages included socialization, training, mentoring, and a simple evaluation of the use of digital learning media. The results of this activity show that the students of PGMI could design and use interactive teaching materials more engagingly and effectively. Through this program, it is expected that the quality of learning in elementary schools can improve, and the students' digital competencies as future teachers will develop further to face the challenges of education in the digital era.

Abstract

The use of technology in learning remains a challenge for many prospective elementary school teachers, particularly in developing interactive and engaging digital teaching media. At SDIT Darul Istiqomah, Palangka Raya City, the limited ability of PGMI students to utilize technology has hindered the effectiveness of IPAS learning. In response, a collaborative Community Service (PKM) initiative involving PGMI lecturers and students was carried out to enhance the competence of future teachers in developing digital teaching materials using the Book Creator platform. This program applied the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, emphasizing the empowerment of existing strengths within the community. The implementation involved a series of activities, including training sessions, technical assistance, and classroom-based evaluations of the media developed. Pretests and posttests were administered to assess participants’ improvement, and classroom observations were conducted to evaluate the application of the digital media. The results showed that 90% of participants improved their skills in creating digital teaching materials, and 85% of elementary students reported increased motivation when learning with the interactive media produced. This community service activity not only strengthened the digital media competencies of PGMI students but also contributed to improving the quality of technology-based learning in partner schools. Through collaborative engagement between lecturers, students, and the school community, the program supported the broader agenda of digital transformation in basic education.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar digital berbasis website untuk rambu lalu lintas bagi siswa kelas II MI/SD MIN 4 Palangka Raya. Permasalahan yang dihadapi adalah kurangnya media pembelajaran yang interaktif dan menarik bagi siswa. Mahasiswa PGMI berperan aktif dengan mengintegrasikan elemen multimedia seperti video, animasi, dan QR code, menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang sesuai dengan karakteristik generasi Alpha. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini meliputi pelatihan bagi guru dan siswa dalam memanfaatkan bahan ajar digital tersebut. Hasil dari uji coba menunjukkan efektivitas bahan ajar, dengan respon positif dari siswa. Dampak signifikan dari kegiatan ini adalah terciptanya solusi pembelajaran yang interaktif, sehingga mendukung pendidikan berbasis teknologi di era digital dan dapat dikembangkan untuk materi lainnya.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa kelas 2 dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dengan mengembangkan bahan ajar digital berbasis website yang inovatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah ABCD, yang menghubungkan tujuan pendidikan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat. Proses pengembangan meliputi validasi ahli dan uji coba lapangan. Website interaktif ini menampilkan konten multimedia yang dirancang untuk menarik perhatian siswa dan meningkatkan pemahaman mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan, dengan nilai post-test rata-rata 90%, dibandingkan dengan 60% pada pre-test. Inovasi ini juga menggeser peran guru dari instruktur menjadi fasilitator dan meningkatkan keterlibatan dan motivasi siswa. Program ini berdampak positif pada prestasi akademik dan keterlibatan di rumah, karena orang tua mendukung proses pembelajaran di luar kelas. Pendekatan ini menunjukkan potensi inovasi digital untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan Islam di tingkat dasar dan mendukung praktik pembelajaran berkelanjutan yang selaras dengan perkembangan teknologi saat ini.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research aims to contribute to teaching and learning activities in English vocabulary by developing technology-based teaching modules using Flip PDF software so that the implications are expected to arouse students' motivation to continue to like the subject. The research model used is development, with the results presented quantitatively and qualitatively descriptively. The subjects are divided into three, namely: a. material validators, media validators, and teachers. At the same time, the informants were taken from students and students of class VIII MTs Terpadu Berkah Palangka Raya. Data collection techniques use observation, tables or lists of questions, interviews, and documentation. The analysis techniques use three stages: data reduction, data presentation and data verification, and validity testing using triangulation techniques. The results showed that: 1). The development of vocabulary modules using flip pdf corporate software in class VIII at MTs Terpadu Berkah Palangka Raya is carried out with the ADDIE development model through 5 stages of development, namely: a) analysis, including performance analysis and need analysis; b) design, including display design on teaching materials made using storyboards; c) development, including the manufacture of learning materials; d) implementation, including product validation with material expert validators and media experts, then trials are carried out on students and English language subject teachers, namely small group and large group product trials and teacher responses; e) evaluation, including improvements according to suggestions and comments obtained by researchers at the implementation stage and the results of pretests and posttests. 2. Response results in the trial of students in class VIII MTs Terpadu Berkah Palangka Raya which was carried out in small group trials (5 people) obtained a percentage of 93.42% with a very good category, large group trials (1 class) obtained a percentage of 89.34% with a very good category. The response results were obtained by distributing student response questionnaires. And the results of the teacher response assessment can be known by using a questionnaire instrument in this case the English subject teacher. Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa inggris pada siswa sd sangat penting untuk menambah pengetahuan mereka di bidang bahasa, untuk mengajar bahasa inggris di bidang sekolah dasar perlu mempertimbangkan materi yang cocok untuk diajarkan kepada siswa. Kosakata bahasa inggris cocok untuk dipelajari oleh siswa sekolah dasar, dengan mempelajari kosakata bahasa inggris hal ini dapat membantu memperkaya bahasa pada siswa. Pelaksanaan MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka) di SDN Bereng Kajang – 1, desa Tumbang Nusa, kecamatan Jabiren Raya, kabupaten Pulang Pisau. Mahasiswa MBKM membantu untuk mengajar di sekolah tersebut, permasalahan yang ada ialah tidak adanya pembelajaran tentang bahasa inggris, karena guru muatan lokal tidak memiliki basic atau dasar dalam bahasa inggris. Maka dari itu program MBKM yang dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa mengambil materi pembelajaran bahasa inggris dasar  tentang vocabulary, untuk diterapkan. Metode pembelajaran menggunakan  metode demonstrative, hasil pembelajaran yang diperoleh oleh siswa, 1) Kelas 5 dan 6 sekitar 85% siswa yang betul-betul memahami materi dengan baik, 2) Kelas 4 sekitar 75% yang betul-betul memahami materi dengan baik, 3) Kelas 3 dan 2 sekitar 70% yang betul-betul memahami materi dengan baik, 4) Kelas 1 sekita 60% yang memahami materi. Dengan adanya program MBKM ini diharapkan siswa SDN Bereng Kajang – 1 dapat mengetahui, memahami dan menguasai tentang kosakata bahasa inggris.Kata Kunci: penerapan, kosakata Bahasa Inggris, siswa SD

Abstract

This study employs a library research approach to examine the integration of cultural aspects into the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) curriculum as a means of enhancing students’ intercultural awareness and communicative competence. Academic literature on culture-based learning, teacher perceptions, and the use of authentic materials was systematically reviewed and synthesized. Findings reveal that embedding cultural dimensions into EFL instruction fosters empathy, motivation, and communication skills, yet faces persistent challenges such as limited resources, narrow textbook content, and insufficient teacher training. The study underscores the need for a culturally responsive curriculum supported by teacher capacity-building, practical strategies, and institutional support. In the context of globalization, cultural integration is not an optional supplement but a core pedagogical approach for cultivating learners who are linguistically proficient, culturally sensitive, and globally competent. Authentic materials—such as cultural stories, films, and real-life scenarios—emerge as effective tools for meaningful cultural engagement when applied through structured and reflective methods. The paper offers practical recommendations for curriculum developers, teacher educators, and policymakers to systematically embed culture into EFL education.

Abstract

This study examined classroom interaction in English Language Teaching and Learning at MTs Terpadu Berkah Palangka Raya through a qualitative case study. It aimed to identify the interaction patterns occurring during lessons and the factors that influenced interaction in improving students’ English skills. The subjects of this study were an English teacher and a class of eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Flanders Interaction Analysis Category System (FIACS). The findings showed that teacher talk dominated the classroom, while student was relatively limited and silence/confusion appeared frequently. Student participation was mainly in the form of short responses, with very few initiations. Interviews revealed that psychological and linguistic barriers such as shyness, lack of confidence, and limited vocabulary combined with external influences including teacher-centered strategies, curriculum demands, and the cultural setting of madrasah, contributed to these interactional patterns. The results of the study conclude that interactions in English classes in this context remain teacher-centered, thereby limiting opportunities for students to develop their communicative skills. The study highlights the need for more student-centered approaches to enhance participations and support language development.
