Abstract

This work investigates the application of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) for numerical solutions to the time-independent Schrödinger equation of the quantum harmonic oscillator in one, two, and three spatial dimensions. Fully connected neural architectures are constructed to approximate wavefunctions over finite symmetric domains, while the corresponding energy eigenvalues are treated as trainable parameters. The training strategy utilizes randomly sampled interior points to enforce the Schrödinger operator residual and boundary points to impose vanishing wavefunction constraints. For the 1D quantum harmonic oscillator, the learned ground-state wavefunction yields an energy of E = 1.2939 after 12,000 iterations. In the 2D configuration, convergence is achieved at E = 2.1352 within 14,000 iterations, whereas the 3D model attains E = 2.6377 after 12,000 iterations. These values agree with the expected trend of increasing ground-state energy with dimensionality, although deviations from exact analytical values indicate that PINNs may experience optimization challenges and sensitivity to sampling density and boundary enforcement. Despite these limitations, the trained models successfully capture the characteristic spatial symmetries and Gaussian-like envelope of harmonic oscillator eigenstates across all dimensions. These findings demonstrate that PINNs offer a flexible, mesh-free alternative for solving stationary quantum systems, particularly when analytical or conventional numerical approaches become impractical. The method shows strong potential for higher-dimensional quantum applications, even though further refinement such as improved sampling, loss balancing, and network depth remains necessary to suppress residual error and enhance eigenvalue accuracy.

Abstract

Studying at home plays an important role in improving student achievement, especially in science subjects that are both conceptual and challenging. This study aimed to examine the effect of the duration and time of study at home on students' science learning outcomes. The approach used was quantitative, with a survey and documentation design. The population included all junior and senior high school students in Pulau Rimau in the 2024/2025 school years. A sample of 170 students was selected using Proportional Stratified Sampling. An analysis was conducted to determine the effects of each variable on learning outcomes. The analysis showed that the study duration had a significant effect on learning outcomes (p<0.05). Tukey's HSD further test showed that students who studied less than one hour per day had significantly lower learning outcomes than students who studied 1-2 hours or more than 2 hours. In contrast, the study time showed no significant effect (p>0.05). This finding suggests that the allocation of at least one hour of study time per day contributes positively to science-learning outcomes. Collaboration between parents and teachers so that the duration of study at home is optimal for science achievement.

Abstract

Quantum Physics is a compulsory course for Physics students that requires both mathematical and conceptual understanding. A survey of 41 Physics Education students at Sriwijaya University revealed that 85.7% experienced difficulties in learning Quantum Physics. Specifically, 79.5% struggled with formula derivations, 63.6% with problem-solving, and 47.7% with the language used. The Schrödinger equation is one of the most difficult topics as it involves the relationship between wave functions, energy, and probability. This study aimed to develop digital teaching materials based on the ARCS-V (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction, and Volition) motivational approach to support students’ understanding of Quantum Physics concepts. The Rowntree development model was applied, consisting of planning, development, and evaluation stages, along with Tessmer’s formative evaluation, including self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, and small group evaluation. Expert validation results showed a 97.5% (very valid) feasibility level, while student responses in the trial stage reached 89.6% (very practical). The digital visualization of the wave function Ψ(x,t), eigenstates in a one-dimensional potential well, and the |Ψ|² graph effectively helped students relate the Schrödinger equation to the concepts of energy quantization and probability.

Abstract

The background of this research is the low level of critical thinking skills in students and the importance of technology utilization in the learning process. To deal with students' low critical thinking skills can be done by utilizing technology in the packaging of teaching materials in the form of e-modules based on Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence Assisted on Global Warming Material. This development procedure uses the Akker model in three stages: analysis, design, and evaluation, with 179 students involved. The findings of this study indicate that the products made have reached the valid category with an average value of the electronic validity of the module from the five aspects of 94.3%. Then, the final average of the results of student responses to the use of e-modules on global warming material amounted to 3.45 with a convenient product category. From the results of the N-Gain test using SPSS version 22.0, the results obtained are for the N gain value of 0.71 ≥ 0.70. So, it can be said that using electronic modules based on Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence on global warming material at SMA Negeri 3 Sekayu is adequate to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the needs in the physics learning process from the perspectives of students and teachers. A survey method was used by distributing questionnaires to 184 students and 40 physics teachers in South Sumatra, selected through purposive sampling. The results show that students better understand physics when it is related to natural phenomena and everyday life, such as renewable energy. However, they face challenges with formulas, scientific terms, and connecting concepts to real-life contexts. Both students and teachers agree that integrating ethnoscience into physics learning can effectively enhance scientific literacy. All participants stated the need for learning resources that incorporate ethnoscience from Lake Ranau in Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra. Based on these findings, an e-module was developed featuring concise explanations, visual elements, videos, interactive quizzes, and practical experiment activities. The results indicate the importance of developing an ethnoscience-based e-module to improve students' literacy in the topic of renewable energy.

Abstract

This study develops a digital assessment instrument on the Socrative platform to measure high school students’ sustainability literacy on global warming within wetland ecosystems, supporting SDG 13 (Climate Action). Using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the research involved: teacher needs analysis, design of 50 wetland-contextualized multiple-choice questions, validation by four environmental experts and three teachers, and trials with 125 students. Content Validity Ratio (CVR ≥ 0.99) confirmed 32 items as valid; 18 were revised for contextual alignment. The instrument showed very high reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.977), with 25 questions demonstrating good discrimination. While Socrative enhanced interactivity, teacher competence in digital tools requires improvement. The innovation lies in integrating understudied wetland contexts with sustainability literacy assessments, bridging technology (Socrative), local ecology, and SDG principles. Findings emphasize contextualized digital tools as catalysts for climate education and educator capacity building.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the empirical needs for developing an Ethno-STEM-based and differentiated physics module to improve critical thinking skills among high school students in South Sumatra, within the context of global warming. A mixed-methods exploratory sequential design was employed, with qualitative data from open-ended questions informing the development of a quantitative Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 81 physics teachers and 1,118 Grade 10 students across five vulnerable districts. Results show that while 100% of teachers express interest in Ethno-STEM, only 24.7% have implemented it, primarily due to the lack of ready-to-use modules (32.4%) and curriculum time constraints (27.0%). Students exhibit diverse learning preferences, with 74.6% favoring hands-on experiments. Furthermore, 83.5% demonstrate analytical skills by identifying causes of environmental problems, but only 61% can compare solutions effectively. These findings reveal a significant gap between awareness and practice, underscoring the urgent need for contextual, culturally responsive, and differentiated learning materials. The study provides a strong empirical foundation for designing a project-based physics module aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum, integrating local wisdom, STEM principles, and learning style differentiation to enhance critical thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for the development of augmented reality (AR)-based learning media in the context of the palm oil industry to improve students' energy literacy and understanding of physics concepts at vocational high schools. The study used a survey method with a descriptive quantitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 62 tenth-grade students at the Sembawa State Agricultural Vocational High School, who were selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a five-point Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for content validity using Aiken's V index and for reliability using Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that students had a high interest in learning physics, but their understanding of concepts and energy literacy was still in the moderate category. In addition, the learning media used were not yet able to optimally visualize physics processes in the context of the palm oil industry. These findings indicate the need to develop contextual, interactive, and relevant AR-based physics learning media for vocational education. This research provides practical implications in the form of recommendations for the design specifications of palm oil industry–based AR media.

Abstract

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems play a crucial role in maintaining thermal comfort, air quality, and energy efficiency in buildings. This study aims to examine the contribution of Fourier series in HVAC thermal analysis and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and smart sensors to support energy optimization. The method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of scientific publications from 2019 to 2025 obtained from the ScienceDirect, IEEE, MDPI, and Academia databases. Articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed based on their objectives, methodologies, and research results, then grouped thematically. The results of the study showed that Fourier series are effective in representing periodic temperature signals, simplifying data complexity, and improving thermal prediction accuracy. Meanwhile, the integration of AI and smart sensors enables real-time responses, improved energy efficiency, and thermal comfort stability. The main challenges identified include limitations in experimental validation, the complexity of integrating Fourier–AI–sensors into a single framework, and the high computational requirements for large-scale implementation. Thus, it can be concluded that this study contributes to mapping current approaches and recommending research directions for the development of more efficient, adaptive, and sustainable data-driven and intelligent computing-based HVAC systems. Keywords: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Energy Efficiency, Fourier Series, HVAC, Smart Sensors
