Abstract

Desa Sungai Nibung, Kubu Raya Regency, has been designated as one of the conservation areas in West Kalimantan. The coastal area of this village has potential of natural resources with a high level of diversity, including bivalves. Local community catch and sell bivalves for consumption. It is due to their high nutritional content, so that they are used by the local community as food and a source of protein. Inventory of biota is the first step to manage biological resources and support the management plan for a conservation area in this village. The study aimed to determine the diversity of bivalves in the coast of Desa Sungai Nibung, West Kalimantan. The research was conducted in December 2022. Sample collection was done using an exploratory method. Bivalves were taken, then stored in the cooling box for further identification. The result showed three bivalve species, such as Polymesoda erosa, Anadara granosa, and A. antiquata.

Abstract

Sargassum sp. adalah salah satu anggota makroalga coklat yang belum banyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat pesisir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas sitotoksik dan antibakteri ekstrak metanol Sargassum sp. asal perairan pulau Kabung. Aktivitas sitotoksik dilakukan menggunakan metode brine shrimp lethality test, sedangkan aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi, menggunakan 2 bakteri yaitu Echerichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak metanol tidak bersifat sitotoksik, dengan hasil pengujian sitotoksik (IC50) diperoleh sebesar > 1000 ppm. Ekstrak metanol Sargassum sp dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri E. coli tetapi tidak menghambat bakteri uji S. aureus. Zona hambat ekstrak metanol Sargassum sp adalah sebesar 14,59 mm.

Abstract

Makroalga merupakan salah satu potensi sumberdaya laut yang secara ekologis berperan dalam meningkatkan produktivitas primer perairan, bioremediasi berbagai jenis polutan, penyedia oksigen, sumber makanan, dan menyediakan habitat berbagai jenis biota akuatik lainnya. Secara ekonomi, makroalga juga potensial untuk dikembangkan karena mengandung berbagai senyawa bioaktif yang dapat dimanfaatkan di berbagai bidang industri. Keanekaragaman jenis dan kelimpahan makroalga sangat dipengaruhi oleh parameter fisika-kimia perairan. Desa Temajuk, Kecamatan Paloh memiliki keanekaragaman sumberdaya alam, termasuk makroalga. Lokasi pengambilan sampel sebanyak tiga stasiun dan ditentukan menggunakan metode purposive sampling, berdasarkan keberadaan makroalga. Sampling makroalga dilakukan menggunakan kuadrat transek dengan ukuran 10x10 m2 dan pengukuran parameter fisika-kimia perairan menggunakan WQC AZ 8603. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis makroalga yang ditemukan yaitu Padina, Turbinaria, Sargassum, Acanthopora, dan Gracilaria. Dari semua jenis yang teridentifikasi, Phaeophyceae memiliki persen kontribusi lebih besar (60%), serta Padina dan Sargassum memiliki kelimpahan tertinggi, yaitu 21,31 ind/mek 2 dan 19,42 ind/m2 secara berturut-turut. Perairan Desa Temajuk memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman sedang, keseragaman tinggi, dan dominansi rendah. Kondisi perairan mempengaruhi kelimpahan makroalga di perairan Desa Temajuk, Kecamatan Paloh.   Macroalgae is one of the potential marine resources that ecologically plays a crucial role in increasing the water’s primary productivity, bioremediation of various types of pollutants, as food sources, providing oxygen and habitat for various aquatic biota. Economically, macroalgae also potential to be developed because it contains various bioactive compounds that can be used in various industrial fields. Species diversity and abundance of macroalgae are strongly influenced by physio-chemical water parameters. Temajuk Village located in Paloh District has a high diversity of natural resources, including macroalgae. The sampling locations were three stations and determined using purposive sampling method, based on the presence of macroalgae. A sampling of macroalgae was carried out using a quadratic transect with a size of 10x10 m2 and measurement of the physio-chemical parameters was done using WQC AZ 8603 instrument. The results showed that the genera of macroalgae found were Padina, Turbinaria, Sargassum, Acanthopora, and Gracilaria. Among the identified species, Phaeophyceae had the highest percentage contribution (60%), which Padina and Sargassum had the highest abundances, such as 21.31 ind/m2 and 19.42 ind/m2, respectively. The waters of Temajuk have a moderate level of diversity, high uniformity, and low dominance. Water conditions influenced the diversity and abundance of macroalgae in the water of Temajuk, Paloh District.

Abstract

Generasi millennial adalah generasi terpelajar, memiliki kemampuan dan pengetahuan formal yang lebih tinggi dibandingan dengan generasi sebelumnya. Generasi ini tergolong dalam kelompok usia produktif, yang diharapkan memiliki produktivitas tinggi dalam mendukung perekonomian negara. Produktivitas yang tinggi harus dibarengi dengan kemampuan dan pemahaman tentang literasi keuangan, yang terarah dan terstruktur sehingga tidak berpotensi merugikan di masa yang akan datang. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat pada mahasiswa Jurusan Ilmu Kelautan yang akan melaksanakan magang di dunia industri ataupun yayasan nirlaba, menjadi mitra dalam kegiatan ini. Tujuan PKM ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tentang literasi keuangan kepada generasi millenial untuk mendukung keamanan finansialnya di masa yang akan datang, baik secara individu maupun skala rumah tangga atau komunitas. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 20 orang peserta, dan dilakukan secara offline dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, simulasi dan diskusi terkait dengan sumber pemasukan dan rencana pengeluaran, serta trik untuk mengefisiensikan pengeluaran Evaluasi kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui pertanyaan yang diberikan sebelum materi diberikan dan sebelum acara berakhir. Dari hasi kegiaitan inimenunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan peserta kegiatan dalam memahami istilah-istilah yang berhubungan dengan literasi, serta kemampuan dalam menyusun rencana keuangan dengan baik. Financial Literacy Training for Millennial Generation to Support Financial Security The millennial generation is an educated generation, having higher abilities and formal knowledge compared to previous generations. This generation belongs to the productive age group, which is expected to have high productivity in supporting the country's economy. High productivity must be accompanied by ability and understanding of financial literacy, which is focused and structured so that it does not have the potential to cause harm in the future. Community service activities for Marine Science Department students who will carry out internships in the industrial world or non-profit foundations, become partners in this activity. The aim of this PKM is to increase understanding of financial literacy among the millennial generation to support their financial security in the future, both individually and on a household or community scale. This activity was attended by 20 participants, and was carried out offline using lecture methods, simulations and discussions related to sources of income and expenditure plans, as well as tricks for making expenditures more efficient. Activity evaluation is carried out through questions given before the material is given and before the event ends. The results of this activity show an increase in the ability of activity participants to understand terms related to financial literacy, as well as the ability to prepare financial plans well.

Abstract

Desa Sungai Nibung terletak di pesisir Kubu Raya, ditempuh selama 2-3 jam perjalanan air, dari Pelabuhan Rasau. Akses transportasi yang cukup sulit menyebabkan perlunya dilaksanakan edukasi tentang penyediaan tanaman obat keluarga yang dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu pertolongan pertama saat ada warga Masyarakat yang menderita penyakit. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk mensosialisasikan pembuatan Taman Obat Keluarga sebagai usaha pengobatan mandiri dalam keluarga, dengan memanfaatkan lahan pekarangan. Hal ini secara langsung akan berdampak pada meningkatnya derajat kesehatan Masyarakat Desa Sungai Nibung. Kegiatan dihadiri sebanyak 25 orang perwakilan warga masyarakat yang terdiri dari ibu rumah tangga dan tim penggerak pendidikan kesejateraan keluarga (PKK). Kegiatan dilakukan dengan metode ceramah edukatif terkait pemanfaatan tanaman berpotensi obat yang dapat dibudidayakan di pekarangan, dilanjutkan dengan praktek pembuatan taman obat keluarga menggunakan rak bersusun 3, untuk menghindari terendamnya media tanam dengan air laut pada saat terjadinya pasang. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat dalam menyebutkan jenis tanaman obat keluarga, khasiat, bagian tanaman yang berkhasiat  dan cara mengolahnya sebelum dikonsumsi. Empowerment of the Sungai Nibung Village Community, Kubu Raya Regency in Providing Family Medicinal Plants Abstract: Sungai Nibung Village is located on the coast of Kubu Raya, a 2-3 hour water journey from Rasau Harbor. Access to transportation is quite difficult, which makes it necessary to carry out education regarding the provision of family medicinal plants which can be used as first aid when a member of the community suffers from illness. The aim of this community service is to socialize the creation of a Family Medicine Park as an independent medical business within the family, by utilizing yard space. This will directly have an impact on increasing the health status of the Sungai Nibung Village Community. The activity was attended by 25 representatives of community members consisting of housewives and the family welfare education team (PKK). The activity was carried out using an educational lecture method regarding the use of potentially medicinal plants that can be cultivated in the yard, followed by the practice of creating a family medicine garden using 3-tiered shelves, to avoid submerging the planting medium in sea water during high tide. The evaluation results show that there has been an increase in public understanding of the types of family medicinal plants, their properties, the parts of the plant that are useful and how to process them before consuming them.

Abstract

Macroalgae are thallus plants that do not have organs in the form of roots, stems, and leaves that are not true. The existence of macroalgae as producer organisms contributes to the life of aquatic biota, especially herbivorous organisms in the waters of Temajo Island, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan. This study aims to determine the abundance, relative abundance, relative frequency, diversity index, uniformity index, and dominance index in the waters of Temajo Island. This research was conducted in August 2022, the sampling locations were three stations and were determined using the exploratory method based on the presence of macroalgae found. Macroalgae sampling was carried out using a quadratic transect of 10x10 m and based on the research results obtained 5 families, 3 classes, 4 orders, and 6 genera consisting of Sargassum, Turbinaria, Padina, Halimeda, Codium, and Amphiroa. The results of the analysis found that the genus Sargassum had abundance, relative abundance, and relative frequency (K = 0.72-2.35 ind/m2, KR = 49.99%, F = 0.83) of macroalgae communities in the waters of Temajo Island, Mempawah Regency, Kalimantan West, has a low-medium diversity value, low-high uniformity index and low-high dominance index. Keywords: Community Structure, Macroalga, Temajo Island, Mempawah Abstrak Makroalga merupakan tumbuhan thallus yang tidak memiliki organ-organ berupa akar, batang dan daun tidak sejati. Keberadaan makroalga sebagai organisme produsen memberikan sumbangan bagi kehidupan biota akuatik, terutama organisme-organisme herbivor di perairan Pulau Temajo Kabupaten Mempawah Kalimantan Barat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui kelimpahan, kelimpahan relatif, frekuensi relative, indeks keanekaragaman, indeks keseragaman, dan indeks dominansi di perairan Pulau Temajo. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2022, lokasi pengambilan sampel sebanyak tiga stasiun dan ditentukan menggunakan metode Eksploratif berdasarkan keberadaan makroalga yang ditemukan. Sampling makroalga dilakukan menggunakan transek kuadrat dengan ukuran 10x10 m. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh 5 famili, 3 kelas, 4 ordo, dan 6 genera yang terdiri dari Sargassum, Turbinaria, Padina, Halimeda, Codium dan Amphiroa. Hasil Analisa mendapatkan Genus Sargassum memiliki kelimpahan, kelimpahan relatif, dan frekuensi relatif (K = 0,72-2,35 ind/m2, KR = 49,99%, F = 0,83) komunitas makroalga di perairan Pulau Temajo Kabupaten Mempawah Kalimantan Barat, memiliki nilai keanekaragaman rendah-sedang, indeks keseragaman rendah-tinggi dan indeks dominansi rendah-tinggi. Abstract

Mangrove forests in Desa Bakau, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan play an important role as a habitat for various types of aquatic biota, one of them being gastropods. Gastropods are reported to have a wide distribution in both inland and marine waters. Local people catch them for sale and consumption. An inventory of gastropod species in the mangrove area of Desa Bakau can provide initial information regarding the diversity of existing species. This data can be used as a database for sustainable management and utilization of natural resources. The purpose of this study was to identify the species of gastropods in the mangrove of Desa Bakau, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan. This study used the exploratory method of collecting gastropods at the observation station. The results found 5 types of gastropods in Desa Bakau, such as Cassidula, Ellobium, Cerithidea, Littoraria, and Pirenella. Gastropoda dilaporkan memiliki distribusi luas baik di perairan darat maupun laut. Masyarakat setempat melakukan penangkapan untuk dijual dan dikonsumsi. Inventarisasi jenis gastropoda yang ada di area mangrove Desa Bakau dapat menjadi informasi awal mengenai keanekaragaman jenis yang ada. Data tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai database dalam pengelolaan berkelanjutan serta pemanfaatan sumberdaya alam yang ada. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi jenis gastropoda di area mangrove Desa Bakau, Kabupaten Sambas, Kalimantan Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksplorasi dengan mengambil gastropoda yang ada di stasiun pengamatan. Abstract

Mangrove vegetation has a wide range of distribution on the Indonesian coast, including Pemangkat, Sambas Regency, and West Kalimantan. Near this area, there are various activities, such as industrial, fishing, and shipping which are possible sources of heavy metal pollution. Water pollution caused by heavy metals is one of the serious problems. This condition can reduce water quality and has an impact on aquatic organisms. Monitoring of water quality needs to be done to reduce health problems and maintain the stability of aquatic ecosystems. Mudskipper (Boleophthalmus sp.) can be used as a bioindicator due to its ability to accumulate heavy metals from the environment, especially in mangrove areas. Heavy metal such as cadmium (Cd) is difficult to decompose and toxic to the environment and biota. This heavy metal pollution may originate from port and fisheries activities. The aim of this study was to determine the Cd content in the Mudskipper, waters, and sediment samples. Sampling was carried out at two stations. Analysis of the Cd content was done using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The result showed that concentrations of Cd in the waters and sediment samples were above the threshold. Abstract

Lemukutan Island has the potential of natural resources with a high level of diversity, including phytoplankton. Lemukutan Island has been developed as a marine tourism destination and other activities. A way to monitor water conditions is by observing physical, chemical, and biological parameters. This study aimed to determine the community structure of phytoplankton as a water quality bioindicator and analyze the environmental parameters' correlation to the abundance of phytoplankton in Teluk Melanau, Lemukutan Island. Determination of sampling stations using a purposive sampling method. Phytoplankton identification, quantity, biological index, and measurement of environmental parameters were carried out in this study. The results showed that the phytoplankton community consisted of 77 genera and Bacillariophyceae has the highest percentage contribution (90.44%). The most common genera were Cocconeis, Nitzchia, Synedra, and Chaetoceros. The abundance of phytoplankton ranged from 2-1521 ind/L. The biological index showed that Teluk Melanau was in an unpolluted condition. Environmental parameters were still in the optimal range for the growth of phytoplankton. The abundance of phytoplankton is very strongly correlated with salinity, DO, nitrate, and phosphate, strongly correlated with pH and very weakly correlated with brightness, temperature, and current velocity. Keywords: Community structure, phytoplankton, bioindicator, Lemukutan Island. Abstrak Perairan pulau Lemukutan memiliki potensi sumberdaya alam, termasuk fitoplankton. Pada saat ini, pulau Lemukutan telah dikembangkan sebagai destinasi wisata bahari dan berbagai aktivitas lainnya. Aktivitas tersebut dapat memberikan dampak terhadap kualitas perairan. Salah satu cara melakukan monitoring kondisi perairan yaitu dengan cara pengamatan parameter fisika, kimia, dan biologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur komunitas fitoplankton sebagai bioindikator kualitas perairan dan menganalisis korelasi parameter lingkungan terhadap kelimpahan fitoplankton di Perairan Teluk Melanau, Pulau Lemukutan. Penentuan stasiun pengamatan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling untuk mewakili rona lingkungan yang ada. Identifikasi fitoplankton, kelimpahan, indeks biologis, dan pengukuran parameter lingkungan dilakukan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan struktur komunitas fitoplankton terdiri dari 77 genera, dimana Bacillariophyceae merupakan komponen dengan persen kontribusi tertinggi (90,44%). Jenis yang paling banyak ditemukan yaitu Cocconeis, Nitzchia, Synedra, dan Chaetoceros. Kelimpahan fitoplankton berkisar antara 2-1521 ind/L. Indeks biologi menunjukkan bahwa perairan Teluk Melanau berada pada kondisi tidak tercemar. Parameter lingkungan masih dalam rentang optimal untuk pertumbuhan fitoplankton. Kelimpahan fitoplankton berkorelasi sangat kuat dengan salinitas, DO, nitrat, dan fosfat, berkorelasi kuat dengan pH dan berkorelasi sangat lemah dengan kecerahan, suhu, dan kecepatan arus. Abstract

The problem of plastic waste does not only occur in Indonesia but has become a global issue. The world's production of plastic waste is expected to increase every year. Plastic is persistent and takes a long time to degrade into smaller sizes. Microplastic contamination can be found in coastal and marine areas. These conditions have an impact on the balance of ecosystems, aquatic biota, and human health. As one of the coastal areas, the waters of Desa Sungai Nibung have the potential to microplastic pollution. Therefore, it is important to conduct a study on microplastics in the waters of Desa Sungai Nibung. The aims of this study were to determine the type, abundance, and microplastic polymers in water samples of Sungai Terus, Desa Sungai Nibung, West Kalimantan. The collection of water samples was carried out at four stations with two repetitions. Identification of microplastic types was carried out using a binocular microscope, and identification of microplastic polymer was conducted using FTIR spectrophotometry. The type of microplastic found consisted of fiber, film, pellet, and fragment. Fiber and film had a higher percentage than fragment and pellet. The average total abundance of microplastics was 4.83 x 103 particles/L. The types of polymers found, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), and polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE). Keywords:   abundance; microplastics; polymer; Sungai Nibung Abstrak Permasalahan sampah plastik tidak hanya terjadi di Indonesia, tetapi telah menjadi isu global. Produksi sampah plastik dunia diperkirakan akan mengalami peningkatan setiap tahun. Plastik bersifat persisten dan membutuhkan waktu lama untuk terdegradasi menjadi ukuran yang lebih kecil. Cemaran mikroplastik dapat ditemukan di wilayah pesisir dan laut. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada keseimbangan ekosistem, biota akuatik, dan kesehatan manusia. Sebagai salah satu wilayah pesisir, perairan Desa Sungai Nibung berpotensi mengalami pencemaran mikroplastik. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk dilakukan penelitian mengenai mikroplastik di perairan Desa Sungai Nibung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis, kelimpahan, serta polimer mikroplastik pada sampel air di Sungai Terus, Desa Sungai Nibung, Kabupaten Kubu Raya, Kalimantan Barat. Pengambilan sampel air dilakukan di empat stasiun dengan dua kali pengulangan. Identifikasi jenis mikroplastik dilakukan dengan menggunakan mikroskop, dan identifikasi jenis polimer mikroplastik dilakukan dengan menggunakan spektrofotometri FTIR. Jenis mikroplastik yang ditemukan pada sampel air di Sungai Terus, Desa Sungai Nibung terdiri dari fiber, film, pelet, dan fragmen. Jenis fiber dan film memiliki persentase lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan jenis fragmen dan pelet. Rata-rata kelimpahan total mikroplastik sebesar 4,83 x 103 partikel/L.
