Abstract

Background Occupational fatigue is an important issue in the field of occupational health and safety that is often experienced by workers in the industrial sector, especially workers who are involved in activities that are monotonous, repetitive, and last for a long duration of time. This condition can have an impact on reducing work productivity, increasing the risk of work accidents, and affecting the physical and mental health of workers. This study aims to analyze the risk factors associated with job fatigue in ITV (Internal Transfer Vehicle) Operators at PT Belawan New Container Terminal. Methods The research method uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design. The number of samples in this study were 39 respondents selected by total sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out through univariate analysis to describe the characteristics of respondents and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test to determine the relationship between independent variables, namely length of work, Body Mass Index (BMI), age, medical history, and work shifts with fatigue. Results The results showed a significant relationship between length of work (p = 0.005), BMI (p = 0.001), and work shift (p = 0.000) with job fatigue. However, the variables of age (p = 0.318) and medical history (p = 0.816) did not have a significant relationship. Therefore, the management is expected to formulate appropriate policies related to the setting of working hours. Conclusions The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between length of work, BMI, and work shifts with job fatigue, but there is no relationship between age and medical history. Therefore, management is expected to formulate appropriate policies related to setting working hours, structuring the shift system, and monitoring the nutritional status of workers in order to reduce the rate of fatigue.

Abstract

Abstract

The high rate of occupational accidents indicates that the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the construction sector still needs to be strengthened, including at the PT. Paramitha Bangun Sarana (Soci Mas) project, where worker compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) remains low. This study aims to describe the implementation of safety protocols and the achievement of the zero-accident program at the project site. A descriptive quantitative method was applied using a total sampling of 50 field workers. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations. Frequency distribution results show that most respondents were aged 18–33 years (82%), male (94%), and high-school graduates (82%). The level of OSH protocol perception was very good, with 94% of respondents agreeing and 6% strongly agreeing on the optimization of safety protocols. Zero-accident achievement was also high, indicated by 94% agreeing and 4% strongly agreeing with the program's application. These findings confirm that consistent application of OSH protocols, strong management support, and a solid safety culture can create a safe work environment, support the realization of zero-accident targets, and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 on decent work and economic growth.

Abstract

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) in toddlers remain an urgent health issue in Indonesia because toddlers are susceptible to infection due to their immature immune systems. The physical environment of the home plays a major role as a risk factor, especially in homes with poor ventilation, minimal lighting, high humidity, and inadequate sanitation. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between housing density, the presence of ventilation, the presence of windows, lighting, and temperature with the incidence of ISPA in infants in Pasar Simundol Village. The research method used is quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The sample size in this study is 55 infants, calculated using the Lameshow formula. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The results of the study showed a relationship between the presence of windows (PR = 1.697; p = 0.019 < 0.05), the presence of ventilation (PR = 1.080; p = 0.030 < 0.05), lighting (PR = 1.753; 0.011 < 0.05), temperature (PR = 1.733; p = 0.012 < 0.05), and humidity (PR = 1.853; p = 0.026), while there was no association with housing density (PR = 1.175; p = 0.832 > 0.05). It is recommended that the community improve the physical conditions of their homes, such as adding ventilation, windows, and maintaining cleanliness and lighting to reduce the risk of respiratory infections in infants.
