Abstract

Judges are pivotal in issuing impartial decisions that advocate for women, even when they function as primary providers. This study examines the judicial sensitivity towards women as primary breadwinners within families in Padang Lawas Utara. Employing a sociological approach, the research explores the realities among the indigenous people of Padang Lawas Utara. Subsequently, it conducts a comprehensive review of five decisions from the Religious Court of Padang Sidimpuan, falling under the jurisdiction of Padang Lawas Utara. The article reveals that the judges fail to consider the wife’s familial role, especially the role of the wife as the breadwinner. They concentrate solely on the male’s capabilities and rely on evidence of the husband’s income, which proves challenging to validate. Despite the husband’s ownership of assets, including land, houses, rice fields, vehicles, and others, the judge refrains from exercising the ex officio rights to provide the wife's māḍiyah (previous alimony). This underscores the inadequacy of the judge’s sensitivity in establishing the fulfillment and protection of women’s rights, particularly in the context of post-divorce scenarios.

Abstract

The palm oil harvesting process is still carried out manually, relying on human power and is carried out repeatedly, potentially causing complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Data collection was carried out in January – February 2024 among palm oil harvesting workers in Labuhan Batu. The sample selection technique involved a total sampling of 58 oil palm harvesters. Data was collected using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire through observation of palm oil harvesting activities. Data processing and analysis uses 4 processes, namely coding, editing, data entry and cleaning. This study uses an analysis carried out to assess the risk level of musculoskeletal disease (MSDs) based on many variables of age, body weight, years of work and duration of work. With the help of SPSS 26 using the correlation test, there is abnormal data on 4 variables, so the Spearman correlation test is used to determine the strength of the relationship between the variables. In the statistical test results, it was found that the pvalue was 0.001 < 0.05, which means there is a relationship between age and MSDs complaints, the statistical test results showed that the pvalue was 0.005 < 0.05,. Research shows the importance of musculoskeletal conditions throughout life, especially in palm oil harvesting workers who are susceptible to complaints of MSDs in various parts of the body. The factors age, length of service and duration of work influence this complaint, while body weight is not significant. The researchers' recommendations include work posture training and the use of assistive devices to reduce the risk of MSDs, as well as supporting the development of more effective occupational health and safety policies, especially in the palm oil industry. Keywords: Complaint, Disturbance, Musculoskeletal, Palm Oil Harvester, Worker

Abstract

Woman shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa) are at risk of developing musculoskeletal disease (MSDS) because of their activities that involve lifting, moving heavy items, carrying weights on the head, bending, or looking up when carrying weights. The majority of women's jobs in Pantai Cermin sub-district are shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa). This study aims to identify risk factors for musculoskeletal disease (MSDS) in female peelers of Kepah Mussels (Geloina Erosa). Using a cross-sectional study design and quantitative methodology, the population in this study was 45 and The sampling technique used a total sampling of 45 respondents. The data was then analyzed using a correlation test with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that age, length of work, duration of work, weight, and work posture affect the risk of musculoskeletal disease (MSDs) in female shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa) in Pantai Cermin District. But years of service are negatively affected This signifies that the longer a person works, the lower their likelihood of experiencing. One strategy to reduce the possibility of musculoskeletal disease complaints (MSDs) is to increase awareness of work posture, comply with occupational safety health regulations, stretch before starting work to reduce pain in parts of the body that experience musculoskeletal disorders, suggestions for improving sitting posture so that the legs are not bent and rest when the body experiences pain to reduce the risk of complaints. The goal is to prevent work fatigue and complaints of MSDs. Women who do kepah peeling work are also expected to routinely stretch, take adequate rest and to reduce soreness in the calves of female shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa) in Pantai Cermin District It is recommended to use tables and chairs with parallel heights so as not to bend the legs too much and wrap when stripping shells (Geloina Erosa). Keywords: MSDS risk, Shellfish peeler (Geloina Erosa), Women, Work Posture

Abstract

Abstract

In Indonesia, traffic accidents are a frequent occurrence and a serious problem, involving many fatalities and material losses. Motorcycles are the vehicles most often involved in traffic accidents and often result in fatalities and injuries, especially among students. The occurrence of motorcycle traffic accidents among students in Indonesia is a serious issue that ranks first among the causes of death in the productive age group. This study aims to analyze the influence of various factors on the potential for traffic accidents among college students, including knowledge, attitudes, infrastructure, environment, parental roles, and peer influence. A quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach was used, involving 212 student respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results of the study showed a significant influence of gender (p = 0.000, PR = 2.372), knowledge (p = 0.047, PR = 1.696), attitude (p = 0.039, PR = 1.527), infrastructure and environment (p = 0.032, PR = 0.649), and peer influence (p = 0.042, PR = 1.511) on the potential for traffic accidents among students. However, there was no significant influence of parental support (p = 0.543, PR = 0.746) on the potential for traffic accidents in students. The findings of this study indicate that when these factors are improved, the risk of accidents can be minimized. It can be concluded that safe driving behavior among motorcycle riders influences the incidence of accidents among university students. Therefore, increasing driving safety education and improving social and environmental infrastructure are important aspects of reducing the number of traffic accidents among university students.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia, including in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Teluk Putat, Labuhan Batu Regency. Poor environmental conditions such as substandard housing, open water containers, and inadequate waste management increase the risk of DHF transmission. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between environmental sanitation and DHF incidence using a case-control approach. A total of 63 respondents were involved, consisting of 21 DHF cases and 42 controls in a 1:2 ratio. Data were collected through structured questionnaires, environmental observations, and secondary data from the health center. The results showed a significant association between water storage conditions (p = 0.019; OR = 3.76; 95% CI: 1.25–11.34) and waste management (p = 0.000; OR = 10.00; 95% CI: 2.96–33.78) with DHF incidence. However, housing conditions were not statistically significant (p = 1.000). These findings suggest that specific aspects of environmental sanitation, particularly water and waste management, play a critical role in DHF prevention. It is recommended that DHF control programs focus more on public education regarding environmental hygiene and strengthening household-based preventive behavior.
