Background: Breast cancer presents significant psychological challenges along with physical health concerns, particularly in settings where cultural and spiritual values play a critical role in patient care. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of a religious caring program on the psychological well-being of Indonesian females with breast cancer. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest and posttest control group design, conducted from January to July 2019 at a chemotherapy unit in Bandung, Indonesia. The patients with breast cancer were assigned to the experimental group (n = 55) and the control group (n = 57). Data were collected using the Psychological Well-Being Scale before and three weeks after the intervention. The data were analyzed using independent t-test and ANCOVA (Analysis of Covariance). Results: There was a significant improvement in the mean psychological well-being score in the experimental group following the intervention compared to the control group, with the experimental group showing a significantly higher mean score (Cohen’s d = 1.4548, p <0.001). None of the covariates significantly affected psychological well-being among the experimental group (p >0.05). Conclusion: These results indicate that a religion-based caring program enhances psychological well-being. Thus, the program was effective and particularly well-suited for clinical nurses, suggesting that it should be recommended for Indonesian females with breast cancer to promote their recovery.

Background: Nutritional problems in toddlers in Indonesia are still a serious concern considering that this age group is vulnerable to nutritional problems that cannot be corrected as before, thus having an impact on the growth and development process. Purpose: To determine the association between feeding practice and picky eating behaviour with the nutritional status of toddlers in Sukamulya Village. Method:Correlational quantitative research design. The data used comes from secondary data. The sample was 145 mothers with toddlers in Sukamulya Village. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Spearman's rho correlation test. Results: Most of the feeding practices carried out by mothers in Sukamulya Village are proper (94.5%). Regarding food choice behaviour, there were 73 toddlers (50.3%) who were not picky eating and 72 (49.7%) toddlers who were picky eating. The nutritional status of toddlers in Sukamulya Village consists of 92 toddlers (63.4%) in the good nutritional status category, 28 toddlers (19.3%) are at risk of overweight, 12 toddlers (8.3%) were overweight, 8 toddlers (5.5%) were obese, 3 toddlers (2.1%) experienced severely wasted and 2 toddlers (1.4%) were wasted. Conclusion: There is no significant association between maternal feeding practice (r= -0.007; p= 0.936) and picky eating behaviour (r= -0.010; p=0.907) with the nutritional status of toddlers in Sukamulya Village. Suggestion: It is expected that the results of this study will be useful as a reference for the latest data related to toddler nutrition so that it can be a basis for improving health services and can provide direction in the form of counselling or education related to maternal feeding practices and monitoring toddler behaviour in children to optimize toddler health conditions.

Background: Nutritional problems in children are one of the health problems that often occur and require more attention, one of which is stunting. One of the factors causing stunting is exclusive breastfeeding. If breast milk is not given exclusively it will increase the risk. Purpose: To determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Method: This research uses a correlational quantitative design with a cross sectional method using secondary data. The research was carried out in July-December 2023, conducted on mothers with toddlers (0-59 months) who lived in Sukamulya Village, Rancaekek District, Bandung Regency. The sample was selected using a total sampling technique of 140 respondents. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Spearman's rho correlation test. Results: Almost half of the respondents had only completed junior high school namely 69 (49.3%), while almost half of the respondents' monthly income was below the city or district minimum wage namely 93 (66.5%). A total of 112 (80%) toddlers did not experience stunting and the majority of respondents 106 (75.7%) gave their toddlers exclusive breast milk (first six months). The variables exclusive breastfeeding and stunting in this study did not show a significant relationship with p value = 0.897 (>0.05). Conclusion: There is no relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting. This is not in accordance with most studies examining the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting. However, there are other aspects that may influence the occurrence of stunting but have not been studied in this study, such as family income, maternal education, average duration of illness (especially diarrhea and respiratory tract infections), birth weight, and level of energy intake. Suggestion: This research can be used as an illustration of the condition of stunted toddlers in the relevant villages so that efforts can be made to reduce the prevalence of stunting. Health services need to develop more effective programs to identify other factors that cause stunting. For future researchers to add more variables that might influence stunting.

Background: HIV/AIDS has garnered public attention due to the challenges in its effective control, with its prevalence continuing to rise until 2019. Despite its global impact, public awareness of this disease remains limited. The perspective of the community on People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the Aceh region offers unique insights, indicating existing issues in the community environment. However, a comprehensive understanding of these issues is still lacking. This study aims to explore the challenges related to the Acehnese people's perspective towards PLWHA.Method: A qualitative ethnographic design was employed, focusing on the subjective approach to understanding the perspectives of the Acehnese Community. In-depth interviews were conducted with 8 participants. The researcher served as a human instrument, directly involved in collecting and interpreting the data. Data were analyzed descriptively using iterative coding and thematic categorization.Result: The study identified three themes related to the perspective of the community on People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA): (1) Community Knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS and PLWHA, (2) Experiences of the Acehnese Community with HIV/AIDS and PLWHA and (3) Community Values towards HIV/AIDS and PLWHA. Individuals with knowledge about HIV/AIDS can provide proper care for PLWHA patients, fostering an understanding of transmission dynamics. Society exhibits positive attitudes towards PLWHA when exposed to sufficient information. Conversely, negative perceptions arise when society attributes the disease to certain behaviors or considers it as a curse, leading to non-acceptance and ostracism. The perspectives imposed on PLWHA significantly influence their perception of the surrounding community. Community knowledge is crucial in shaping these perspectives, particularly from individuals with experience caring for PLWHA. Society holds both positive and negative values concerning HIV/AIDS and PLWHA.

Background: Sexual abuse is a significant issue for adolescent girls in the Philippines. This study explores the experiences of survivors, focusing on their journeys of healing and resilience. Methods: This Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis study aimed to understand the lived experiences of Filipino adolescent girls who survived sexual abuse through four key questions, namely: 1) How did each participant perceive their experience? 2) What coping mechanisms did they employ to deal with the trauma? 3) How did the abuse impact their self-perception and purpose in life? 4) What symbols or meanings do they associate with their experiences? Results: The analysis identified six superordinate and sixteen subordinate themes. These included: 1) sense of loss – participants described a deep sense of loss due to the abuse; 2) healing as a process – healing was perceived as a gradual and ongoing journey; 3) supportive environment – supportive relationships played a crucial role in coping; 4) growing faith in God – faith emerged as a significant source of strength; 5) reclaiming the sense of self – regaining a sense of self-worth was a central aspect of healing; and 6) altruism – the desire of helping others emerged as a meaningful way to cope. Conclusions: The participants’ experiences can be likened to a resilient plant that, despite facing near-destruction, revives with renewed strength. Family dynamics played a crucial role in the girls’ experiences of abuse. A culture of silence and fear emerged as a significant theme in their narratives. Additionally, the ambiguity and conflicting emotions surrounding accountability for perpetrators within close families posed complex challenges. This research provides valuable insights into the experiences of sexually abused Filipino adolescent girls, informing nursing practice. The findings enable nurses to offer culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care and develop targeted support interventions. Incorporating these insights into nursing education will enhance students’ competencies in trauma response, cultural sensitivity, and therapeutic communication with abuse survivors, leading to improved assessment protocols and care strategies.

Aims: This study evaluated palliative care services in Indonesia, focusing on proposing a community-based model to enhance cancer care. Method: A mixed-method approach was employed, involving quantitative analysis of 200 patients’ personal and treatment factors and qualitative insights from 21 stakeholders to FGDs and in-depth interviews. Results: The qualitative results highlight five themes: 1) illness as a subjective and culturally influenced concept, 2) family’s role in treatment decision-making, 3) perceptions of healing through multiple treatment modalities, 4) finding positive meaning in illness, and 5) hopes and aspirations for recovery. The quantitative results show that 55.5% of patients had inadequate knowledge, with 69.5% preferring modern therapy. A significant relationship was found between knowledge, perception, and treatment options, while no significant correlation was observed with self-confidence or diagnosis date. Conclusion: An integrated community-based palliative care model tailored to Indonesia’s healthcare system is proposed to improve the quality of life for cancer patients.
