Abstract

This study focuses on the implementation of the Collaborative Inquiry Model based on the Flipped Classroom approach in the teaching of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as an effort to strengthen students’ religious moderation in higher education. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of the model in enhancing students’ learning independence, critical thinking ability, collaboration skills, and internalization of religious moderation values, particularly regarding interreligious tolerance. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design conducted among students of the Faculty of Information Technology at KH. A. Wahab Hasbullah University, Jombang. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Collaborative Inquiry Model based on the Flipped Classroom is effective in creating a reflective, participatory, and contextual learning process. In the first cycle, student engagement was still limited, with a learning readiness level of 65% and an average learning achievement of 74.5%. After strategic improvements were made in the second cycle, there was a significant increase: student readiness reached 87%, active participation rose to 85%, and the average learning achievement reached 86.8% with a 100% completion rate. Furthermore, collaborative activities among group members increased to 88%, indicating improved student cooperation and appreciation of diverse perspectives. The implementation of this model not only enhanced students’ cognitive aspects but also fostered moderate character and reflective attitudes in understanding religious values. The findings of this research contribute to the development of innovative and relevant strategies for religious education in the context of 21st-century learning, while also reinforcing the role of Islamic education in building an academic culture that is dialogical, inclusive, and grounded in the principle of Jaadilhum billati hiya ahsan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of YouTube-based learning media in enhancing student participation and comprehension in Islamic Cultural History classes at MTsN 5 Jombang. The background of this research stems from the limited use of varied learning media, which has led to students’ low engagement and passive attitudes during lessons. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that YouTube-based learning fosters a more interactive, engaging, and enjoyable classroom atmosphere. The visual and auditory elements of YouTube videos help students grasp historical content more concretely and stimulate curiosity and learning motivation. Furthermore, teachers benefit from the platform’s accessibility, as students can revisit the videos for review and reinforcement. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, including unstable internet connectivity and students’ tendency to focus more on video visuals rather than the instructional content. Overall, YouTube serves as an effective learning medium to improve both student participation and comprehension when appropriately integrated with teacher guidance and well-structured learning design.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies of tahfidz teachers for overcoming challenges in memorizing the Qur’an at the Sunan Bonang Tahfidz Female Dormitory, Pesantren Mamba'ul Ma'arif, Denanyar, Jombang. Highlighting external challenges can deepen empathy for santri struggles (student in pesantren) and the importance of effective strategies. The research method used was a case study with a qualitative approach, involving observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The results indicate that the tahfidz learning process at this pesantren is carried out in stages, starting from bi an-nadhor (reading by looking at the Mushaf), maqbul (memorizing the 30th juz and certain surah), and bi al-ghoib (memorizing without looking at the Mushaf). The results of this discussion indicate that applying the Pomodoro technique, combined with the Stepwise Learning theory and the Nine Events of Instruction by Robert Gagné, has proven effective in improving the quality, focus, and sustainability of the Qur'an memorization process at the Pesantren Sunan Bonang. This method provides a systematic, gradual, and mastery-oriented learning structure, while strengthening the processes of ziyadah, mura’jaah, and tasmi' through appropriate time management, repetition, and feedback.

Abstract

The Society 5.0 agenda has accelerated the demand for digitally competent teachers, including in Indonesian madrasahs where professional development must also safeguard Islamic educational values. This study develops a conceptual model for transforming madrasah teachers’ digital literacy through hybrid learning and positions the model as a practical contribution to SDG 4 (Quality Education), particularly target 4.c on qualified teachers. Using a systematic literature review and qualitative content analysis, the study synthesizes research on digital literacy, teacher professional development, and hybrid learning in Islamic and general education settings. The findings indicate that effective transformation requires (1) staged capacity building (basic digital skills to advanced media design), (2) pedagogical integration (TPACK-aligned lesson planning for synchronous and asynchronous modes), (3) institutional support (leadership, infrastructure, and policy), and (4) continuous mentoring and evaluation. The proposed model emphasizes iterative training, classroom implementation, reflective coaching, and community-of-practice support to reduce technology resistance and improve instructional quality. This conceptual contribution offers guidance for madrasah leaders and policymakers to design scalable hybrid professional development programs that strengthen teachers’ digital literacy while enhancing equitable access to meaningful learning.
