Abstract

Dental handyman practices in Indonesia are a popular healthcare alternative, especially for low-income people. However, violations of authority by dental handyman, such as dental installation that hasn't comply the standard, create significant health risks for consumers. This study analyzes the juridical aspects related to these violations based on Law Number 8 Year 1999 on Consumer Protection and Minister of Health Regulation Number 39 Year 2014. This research uses a normative juridical approach with data from legal literature, laws and regulations, and official documents. The results show that the illegal practice of dental handyman is influenced by weak supervision, lack of understanding of regulations, and low consumer awareness. The government needs to strengthen regulations, improve supervision, and provide education to the communities to reduce the risks of the practice. Recommendations include developing training for dental handyman, more strict law enforcement, and consumer awareness socialization.

Abstract

Drug abuse has become one of the most serious problems in Indonesia, posing a threat to public health, social stability, and state security. This study aims to explore the regulation of drug abuse in Indonesia's Narcotics Law, identify its strengths and weaknesses, and analyze the implementation of the regulation in drug eradication efforts. With a normative juridical approach based on literature studies, this research reviews various aspects of the law, ranging from criminal sanctions, rehabilitation mechanisms, to prevention and law enforcement policies. The findings show that although regulations have been comprehensively drafted, there are significant challenges in their implementation, such as disparities in law enforcement, lack of coordination between institutions, and lack of attention to rehabilitation programs for drug users. This study proposes several recommendations to strengthen policy effectiveness, including revision of regulations and strengthening the capacity of law enforcement officials. Thus, this study contributes to the development of more effective policies in dealing with the drug problem in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study analyses the normative character of tobacco control regulations in Indonesia within the framework of public health protection, focusing on three key instruments tobacco advertising regulations that restrict promotion, the establishment of smoke-free areas (SFAs) in various public spaces, and the obligation to include pictorial and text health warnings on product packaging. Through a normative legal research approach, this study examines the national regulatory framework, such as the Health Law, Government Regulation No. 109/2012, Minister of Health Regulation No. 56/2017, BPOM Regulation No. 18/2025, and various related regional regulations. The results of the analysis show that these three instruments complement each other in establishing a legal system that prioritises the right to health and protects the public from the effects of tobacco consumption. These regulations represent restrictions on the commercial interests of the industry for the sake of public health. The study concludes that although the existing regulatory framework has strengthened the legal foundation for health protection, its effectiveness depends heavily on consistent enforcement, continuous monitoring, and the ability to adapt to new tobacco products and innovative marketing methods.
