Abstract

Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) are a concrete form of people's sovereignty in directly electing leaders. Since the implementation of direct Pilkada, various community organizations have begun to actively participate, including Pemuda Pancasila. This study aims to determine the form of political participation of members of the Pemuda Pancasila organization in the 2024 Pilkada in Majalengka Regency, the factors that influence their participation, and the interaction of this organization with political parties and other mass organizations. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, FGDs, observations, and social media documentation. The results of the study show that Pemuda Pancasila plays an active role in campaigns and mass mobilization with a background of organizational solidarity, loyalty to internal leadership, and the influence of local elites. Their participation is also relevant to Huntington's theory of political participation and Watson's behaviorist communication. This study concludes that Pemuda Pancasila's role as a non-party political actor can strengthen or challenge local democratic practices, depending on how they navigate this role within the boundaries of democratic law and ethics.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of interaction and information distribution regarding public responses to the Moodkative Instagram Reels video discussing the film 'Home Sweet Loan' through social media network analysis in the video's comment column. The background of this study is based on the increasing discussion about the representation of family dynamics and birth order on social media, which indicates the important role of Instagram as a virtual public space for sharing views and experiences. The purpose of this study is to identify key actors, interaction patterns, and how information about family dynamics and birth order flows among Instagram users. The research method uses Social Media Network Analysis (SMNA) with a population of comments on the Instagram Reels video "Home Sweet Loan". Data collection was carried out by crawling data on comments using the Chrome extension "IG Comment Exporter," followed by analysis using Gephi 0.10.1 software. The results of the study show a communication network consisting of 987 nodes and 209 edges with a diameter value of 3, density 0, reciprocity 0, and centralization 0.00001, describing a decentralized network with minimal and one-way interactions. Key actors such as @septarina.gt, @nina_bollo, and @similarity_28 have significant influence in this network, with interaction patterns dominated by responses to their comments. These findings underscore the important role of social media in disseminating information and shaping public opinion on complex social issues such as family dynamics and birth order.

Abstract

This research examines the representation of misogynistic ideology in the horror films Pengabdi Setan (2017) and Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion (2022), directed by Joko Anwar, through Ruth Wodak’s Discourse-Historical Approach (DHA) within the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The study aims to analyze how misogynistic ideologies operate within the narratives of these two films and how they reproduce the patriarchal discourse embedded in Indonesian society. By investigating the male gaze, the research explores how this cinematic technique either reinforces or challenges misogynistic ideologies within the context of patriarchy. Furthermore, the study examines the role of symbolism and visual representation in these films, investigating how these elements are used to either create or resist the ideological framework of misogyny. Through a qualitative approach, CDA’s three key dimensions cognitive, socio-psychological, and linguistic are applied to reveal how gender power dynamics are conveyed through both narrative and visual forms in contemporary Indonesian horror cinema.

Abstract

This article examines how two mainstream Indonesian newspapers—Kompas and Republika—construct competing discourses around the prospect of female royal leadership in the Yogyakarta Sultanate. Focusing on the 2015 succession controversy triggered by Sultan Hamengku Buwono X’s decision to open the throne to his eldest daughter, the study investigates how media narratives invoke Islamic law, royal tradition, and gendered authority. Using Norman Fairclough’s three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis, the article analyses news reports and opinion pieces published between March and May 2015 to uncover how linguistic choices, sources, and intertextual references are mobilised to legitimise or contest a woman’s claim to the throne. The findings show that Republika frames the issue through a conservative Sharia-based perspective, emphasising religious orthodoxy and patriarchal norms. On the other hand, Kompas adopts a more pluralist and constitutionalist framing that normalises female leadership as congruous with democratic and cultural change. The primary argument advanced in this article is that the core site of contention is not Islamic law per se, but the way Sharia is selectively interpreted and circulated through media discourse to support competing hegemonic projects concerning gender and authority. Theoretically, the study demonstrates that media discourse serves as a critical arena in which Sharia, gender authority, and cultural legitimacy are negotiated, thereby making an essential contribution to Islamic legal studies and critical media analysis.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the following variables: (1) digital technology adoption, (2) business resilience, (3) women’s empowerment, and (4) financial literacy, and to analyze the effect of digital technology adoption on business resilience mediated by women’s empowerment and moderated by financial literacy. The research employed a quantitative explanatory design with structural model analysis using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Data were collected through an online questionnaire (Google Form). The population consisted of 1,556 women entrepreneurs who own Micro and Small Industry (MSI) units in the food subsector, with 359 respondents selected using proportionate allocation sampling and located in Tasikmalaya, Sukabumi, Bogor, and Bandung. The findings indicate that the level of digital technology adoption among women entrepreneurs is in the very high category, while business resilience, women’s empowerment, and financial literacy are in the high category with potential for further improvement. Digital technology adoption has a positive effect on business resilience and women’s empowerment, implying that higher levels of technology adoption are associated with stronger business resilience and greater women’s empowerment. Women’s empowerment also positively affects business resilience and mediates the relationship between digital technology adoption and business resilience. In addition, higher financial literacy strengthens the effect of digital technology adoption on business resilience, thus functioning as an enhancing moderator in this relationship. The results imply that strengthening business resilience among women entrepreneurs can be achieved by enhancing digital technology–based resources and strategies, integrated with women’s empowerment as a mediating mechanism and financial literacy as a moderating capability for the strategic use of digital technology. Practically, the findings underscore the importance of advanced training programs and an integrated digital ecosystem to reinforce digital technology adoption, women’s empowerment, and financial literacy, while simultaneously building a collaborative ecosystem and continuous interventions focused on sustainable business resilience.
