Abstract

Optimizing international marketing strategies is a significant challenge faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including Batik Giriloyo business actors in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, in an effort to expand global market penetration. Various obstacles such as limited access to international markets, minimal use of digital technology for marketing, and weak cross-country cooperation networks are the main obstacles in business expansion. To overcome these problems, an empowerment program has been implemented which includes creating an e-commerce account through the Shopify platform and holding an international webinar entitled "Penetrating the Global Market: Batik Giriloyo's Successful Strategy in the International Arena" as a means of increasing promotion and global business networks. The program implementation method includes intensive training in the use of digital technology, global marketing strategies, and cross-cultural communication, which significantly increases brand visibility and forms partnerships with international resellers. The results of the activity show that the integration of digital technology in a marketing strategy based on local cultural values is able to provide strong competitive differentiation for MSMEs, especially in the context of preserving the cultural heritage of batik as the identity of a superior product. As a form of follow-up, it is recommended to strengthen digital training, increase strategic collaboration with international partners, and develop marketing strategies that highlight local wisdom values, in line with the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in the aspect of community service.

Abstract

Ethnocentric behavior among employees is observed in multicultural work environments characterized by the presence of individuals from different origins. The presence of ethnocentrism in the workplace has been observed to have an impact on coworkers. However, despite the importance of the above-mentioned factors, there has been no relevant scientific study on how these aspects affect human resource localization. This study investigates the influence of ethnocentric behavior and localization success on cultural intelligence through the mediating role of knowledge sharing tendency in the context of digital marketing. Although prior research has examined ethnocentrism in consumer behavior and policy, there is limited understanding of how individual-level ethnocentric tendencies affect human resource localization and intercultural competence in multinational work environments. Addressing this gap, the study surveyed 107 employees in multinational companies in Indonesia using a non-probability snowball sampling method. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. The findings show that ethnocentric behavior and localization success positively influence both knowledge sharing tendency and cultural intelligence. However, knowledge sharing tendency does not significantly mediate the relationship between either ethnocentric behavior or localization success and cultural intelligence. These results highlight the importance of direct cross-cultural dynamics in enhancing cultural intelligence. The study contributes to the theoretical development of international HR management and cultural adaptation models while offering practical implications for designing training programs and policies that enhance knowledge transfer and cultural intelligence in global digital marketing environments.

Abstract

This narrative review investigates the multi-dimensional nature of digital transformation in industrial sectors, focusing on regulatory policies, socioeconomic conditions, and technological innovations. The study aims to analyze the enabling and limiting factors that influence digitalization processes in both advanced and developing economies. Literature was gathered from Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar using keywords such as "Digital Transformation," "Industry 4.0," "SMEs," and "Blockchain," applying Boolean logic and strict inclusion-exclusion criteria. Findings indicate that proactive policies, such as state-sponsored infrastructure and digital education programs, significantly enhance industrial readiness for digital technologies. Countries like Germany and Japan demonstrate how comprehensive policy frameworks facilitate seamless adoption of innovations. In contrast, regions with inadequate infrastructure and lower digital literacy face major implementation barriers. Socioeconomic disparities further shape perceptions and outcomes of digital investments, with small enterprises often perceiving high risks and uncertain returns. Technological tools like IoT, big data, and blockchain prove instrumental in improving operational efficiency and decision-making, yet their effectiveness is context-dependent. Systemic issues such as misaligned regulations and lack of skilled labor continue to impede progress. The review underscores the urgency for integrative policies, skill development, and cross-sector collaboration to ensure equitable and effective digital transformation. It calls for future research into scalable models and policy innovations tailored to specific industrial contexts.
