Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model discovery learning berbantuan media audiovisual terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 27 Padang. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode kuantitatif dengan menggunakan penelitian quasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian dengan bentuk one-group-pre-test-post-test desain. Sampel yang digunakan dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini hanya satu kelas. Data pada penelitian ini berbentuk skor yang dikonversi menjadi nilai berdasarkan dua kali uji keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi pada sampel. Berdasarkan penganalisisan data dan pembahasan, disimpulkan tiga hal. Pertama, keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa sebelum menggunakan model discovery learning berbantuan media audiovisual memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 68,79 dengan kualifikasi Ldc (Lebih dari cukup). Kedua, keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa setelah melakukan pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi menggunakan model discovery learning berbantuan media audiovisual memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 80,20 dengan kualifikasi Bk (Baik). Ketiga, model discovery learning berbantuan media audiovisual layak untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan hal-hal sebagai berikut. Pertama, mendeskripsikan keterampilan menyimak teks eksplanasi. Kedua, mendeskripsikan keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks eksplanasi. Ketiga, menjelaskan kontribusi keterampilan menyimak teks eksplanasi terhadap keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks eksplanasi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain kontribusi. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Padang yang terdaftar pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024, yaitu sebanyak 236 siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini ditentukan dengan simple random sampling, yaitu 42 orang siswa. Hasil penelitian ini ada tiga. Pertama, keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Padang berada pada kualifikasi Lebih dari Cukup (LdC) dengan nilai rata-rata 74,80. Kedua, keterampilan menyimak teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Padang berada pada kualifikasi Lebih dari Cukup (LdC) dengan nilai rata-rata 75,56. Ketiga, keterampilan menyimak teks eksplanasi berkontribusi sebesar 15,29% terhadap keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Padang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks eksplanasi kembangkanlah keterampilan meyimaknya terlebih dahulu.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan tiga hal berikut. Pertama, mendeskripsikan keterampilan menyimak siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung. Kedua, mendeskripsikan keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks laporan hasil observasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung. Ketiga, menjelaskan kontribusi keterampilan menyimak terhadap keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks laporan hasil observasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung yang terdaftar pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024 sebanyak 212 siswa. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 42 siswa (20%) yang ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik proposional random sampling. Variabel dalam penelitian ini ada dua, yaitu keterampilan menyimak sebagai variabel (X) dan keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks laporan hasil observasi sebagai variabel (Y).Data penelitian ini berupa skor hasil tes keterampilan menyimak dan skor hasil tes keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks laporan hasil observasi. Data tersebut diperoleh melalui dua jenis tes, yaitu tes objektif untuk mengukur keterampilan menyimak dan tes unjuk kerja untuk mengukur keterampilan menuliskan kembali. Hasil penelitian ini ada tiga. Pertama, keterampilan menyimak siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung berada pada kualifikasi Baik (B) dengan nilai rata-rata 79. Kedua, keterampilan menuliskan menuliskan kembali teks laporan hasil observasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung berada pada kualifikasi Baik (B) dengan nilai rata-rata 80. Ketiga, keterampilan menyimak berkontribusi sebesar 92,9% terhadap keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks laporan hasil observasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Basung. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa keterampilan menyimak diperlukan untuk menunjang keterampilan menuliskan kembali teks laporan hasil observasi.

Abstract

In Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes student-centered and technology-integrated learning, junior high school students often struggle with descriptive text writing due to limited visualization and engagement. Traditional methods fall short in supporting the development of observational and expressive writing skills. This study employed a Research and Development (RD) design using the ADDIE model—Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation—to create an interactive digital learning tool. The tool integrated Canva Site for instructional design and Assemblr Studio Web for augmented reality (AR)-based 3D object visualization. The product underwent expert validation (media, linguistic, and instructional) and was tested on 21 eighth-grade students to assess practicality and effectiveness. Validation scores indicated high quality: 96% (media), 80% (language), and 95% (instruction). Practicality testing yielded a 90.53% acceptance rate, showing strong usability and engagement. A paired sample t-test revealed a statistically significant improvement in students' descriptive writing performance (p = 0.000), demonstrating the tool’s effectiveness in enhancing writing outcomes. The integration of visual and AR elements supported multimodal learning and stimulated richer descriptions, aligning with Mayer’s multimedia learning theory and Vygotsky’s sociocultural framework. This approach also reinforced the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum by promoting creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy. The study presents a valid, practical, and effective model for integrating Canva and Assemblr in language instruction, offering a replicable solution to improve descriptive writing skills through immersive digital media.

Abstract

Effective learning in the digital era requires instructional media that are interactive, accessible, and aligned with student learning preferences. In Indonesian language instruction, particularly in teaching biographical texts, conventional methods often fail to engage students. This study aims to develop and evaluate Google Sites–based learning media for improving students’ ability to identify biographical texts. This research employed a Research and Development (RD) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The study involved 24 tenth-grade students at MAN 1 Pesisir Selatan. Instruments included needs and curriculum analysis questionnaires, expert validation forms, practicality questionnaires, objective tests (pretest-posttest), and field notes. Media validity was assessed by experts in media, language, and pedagogy, while practicality and effectiveness were evaluated through user feedback and statistical testing. The media was rated highly valid, with expert scores of 86.15% (media), 95% (language), and 96.36% (pedagogy). Practicality assessments yielded scores of 94.67% (teachers) and 90.47% (students), indicating high usability and engagement. A paired sample t-test showed a significant improvement in student performance (p 0.001) from pretest to posttest, confirming the media’s effectiveness. The findings demonstrate that Google Sites-based media is a valid, practical, and effective tool for teaching biographical texts. It supports digital literacy and offers a scalable solution for blended and remote learning. The media serves as a promising alternative to traditional resources, fostering greater comprehension and learner autonomy in secondary education.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and assess the effectiveness of a Canva-based video tutorial as instructional media to enhance poetry writing skills among tenth-grade vocational high school (SMK) students in Batam. The research addresses the gap between students' preference for digital learning tools and the continued reliance on conventional, text-based teaching methods in language instruction. Using a Research and Development (RD) approach, the study adopted the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). A needs analysis involving students and teachers identified a low interest in textbook-based learning and a dominant preference for visual and digital media. Based on these findings, a structured and visually engaging video tutorial was developed through Canva, incorporating step-by-step guidance for writing poetry. The media underwent expert validation by specialists in media, language, and pedagogy, receiving high ratings for validity (average 91%). Practicality tests with students and teachers indicated high ease of use, appeal, and instructional value (94% practicality score). Effectiveness was measured through a pretest-posttest design with 39 students, analyzed using an independent t-test. Results showed a significant improvement in students’ poetry writing scores (t = 6.642, p 0.05). The findings demonstrate that the Canva-based video tutorial is a valid, practical, and effective tool for teaching poetry writing. This study underscores the pedagogical value of integrating digital tools in language learning, particularly in enhancing literacy, creativity, and student engagement in vocational education contexts.

Abstract

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PJBL-MIND MAPPING ON JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS' RESPONSE WRITING SKILLS The low writing skills of response texts of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang are the background of this research. The main problems include students' difficulties in developing ideas systematically and low mastery of spelling (EYD). This study aims to test the effectiveness of Project Based Learning (PjBL)-mind mapping on writing skills of response texts based on short film objects. The research method used was a pre-experiment with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research sample consisted of 32 grade VII.4 students selected through a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a writing performance test assessed using a standardized rubric. The results of data analysis showed a significant increase in the average score from 48.437 (Almost Enough) in the pretest stage to 80.859 (Good) in the posttest stage. Hypothesis testing through Paired Sample T-Test produced a Sig. value. 0.000 < 0.05, supported by an Effect Size (Cohen's d) value of -2.768 (very strong category) and an N-Gain Score of 62.87% (moderate category). These findings prove that the synergy between PjBL and visual idea mapping through short films is effective in organizing students' critical ideas systematically.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the reading comprehension skills of biography texts among tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ampek Angkek who were taught using the gamification method and those who were taught without using the method, as well as to determine the effect of the gamification method on students’ reading comprehension skills. This research employed an experimental approach using a Quasi Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of 352 tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ampek Angkek in the 2025/2026 academic year. The samples were selected through purposive sampling, namely class X.E1 as the experimental class and class X.E3 as the control class, each consisting of 35 students. Data were collected using an objective multiple-choice test and analyzed using percentage formulas, mean scores, prerequisite tests, a t-test, and N-gain calculations. The results show that students taught using the gamification method achieved higher reading comprehension skills than those taught through conventional learning. The independent sample t-test result indicates that tcount (2.87) > ttable (2.00) at a significance level of 0.05

Abstract

This study aims to describe the following. First, to describe the book review writing skills of 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang. Second, to describe the reading comprehension skills of 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang. Third, to analyze the contribution of reading comprehension skills to the review writing skills of 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang. This is a quantitative study using a descriptive-analytical method. This study was conducted on 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang. The data in this study consist of the test scores for reading comprehension of book reviews among 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang and the test scores for writing book reviews among 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang. There are three main findings. First, the reading comprehension skills of 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang are in the “good” category, with a mean score of 79.20. Second, the book review writing skills of the 11th-grade students at SMK Negeri 3 Padang were in the “good” category with a mean score of 85.54. Third, there was a significant positive relationship between reading comprehension skills and book review writing skills with a degree of freedom of n-1 (35-1=32) and a significance level of 95%. H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted because the calculated t-value is greater than the critical t-value, namely 14.06 > 1.697. In other words, the better the reading comprehension skills, the better the students’ ability to write book reviews.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ reading comprehension skills, describe students’ descriptive text writing skills, and analyze the correlation between reading comprehension skills and descriptive text writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Padang. This research is a quantitative study using a correlational method. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students, and the sample was selected using purposive sampling. The data were collected through an objective test to measure reading comprehension skills and a performance test to measure descriptive text writing skills. The results showed that students’ reading comprehension skills were in the “more than adequate” category with an average score of 74.50, while their descriptive text writing skills were in the “good” category with an average score of 77.87. The result of the product moment correlation test indicated a significant relationship between reading comprehension skills and descriptive text writing skills, with rcount greater than rtable (0.978 > 0.215). The t-test result also showed that tcount was greater than ttable (42.08 > 1.67), meaning that the hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the higher the students’ reading comprehension skills, the higher their descriptive text writing skills.
