Abstract

The low level of students’ mathematical communication skills in mathematics learning is caused by a learning process that is still teacher-centered. Therefore, a more student-centered learning model is needed, one of which is the project-based learning model as an alternative solution. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the project-based learning model on students’ mathematical communication skills. This study employed a quasi-experimental approach using a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. All 10th grade classes were the research population. The sample was taken using purposive sampling, where X-2 was used as the experimental class and X-3 was used as the control class. Data was obtained by administering a test instrument to students. To test the hypothesis, the researcher used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Mann-Whitney test, assisted by SPSS software version 26. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney test, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0,000 (≤ 0,05), resulting in the rejection of H0, concluding that there is an effect of the PjBL model on students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Efficient drug distribution is fundamental to ensuring the quality of public healthcare services. However, health departments often face challenges with imbalances between drug demand and available supply. This study addresses this issue by applying the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm to categorize drug demand levels across 16 public health centers (puskesmas) in Langkat Regency, Indonesia, from 2021 to 2023. Using historical data from 2,400 drug records, the analysis identified five distinct demand clusters: Very Low, Low, Medium, High, and Very High. The results revealed a significant disparity in drug needs, with the "Very High" demand cluster dominating (51.29% of data) in centers like Besitang and Tanjung Selamat, driven by high morbidity rates. In contrast, other clusters were less prevalent, such as the "Low" demand cluster, which was primarily concentrated in the Gebang health center. These findings, visualized using t-SNE plots, highlight significant regional variations in pharmaceutical needs. This data-driven clustering provides a robust framework for the Langkat District Health Office to develop more targeted, efficient, and equitable drug distribution strategies, ultimately improving healthcare service delivery.

Abstract

The efficiency of clustering algorithms significantly depends on the initialization quality, especially in unsupervised learning applied to complex datasets. This study introduces an enhanced K-Medoids clustering approach using Z-Score-based medoid initialization to improve convergence speed and cluster validity. The method was evaluated using the QSAR Fish Toxicity dataset, consisting of 908 instances and seven numerical features. Initial medoids were selected based on standardized Z-Score values, resulting in a substantial reduction in convergence time from an average of 6 iterations to just 2. Clustering performance was assessed using three internal validation metrics: Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI), Silhouette Coefficient (SC), and Calinski-Harabasz Index (CHI). The DBI score decreased from 1.7328 to 0.8768, indicating improved cluster compactness and separation. In parallel, the SC increased from 0.327 to 0.619, and the CHI rose from 214.75 to 562.43, confirming more coherent and well-separated clusters. These results demonstrate that Z-Score-based initialization significantly boosts the robustness of K-Medoids, offering a simple yet effective strategy for unsupervised partitioning, particularly in toxicological and biochemical data analysis.

Abstract

Perception is an individual observation or process giving meaning as a result of observations about an object, event, and so on through his five senses, which is obtained by inferring information and interpretation of messages so that someone can provide feedback about the good or bad or the positive and negative of it. The use of animation media in learning other than providing many conveniences, there are also obstacles, causing various student perceptions. Students' perceptions of the use of learning media can be seen by gender. This study aims to determine students' perceptions of learning using animation/powton in SMP/MTs based on gender. Based on the data collected, this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The data collection method in this study used a questionnaire in collecting data from primary and secondary sources. In this study, the primary data was the result of a perception survey through a questionnaire conducted to SMP/MTs students. In contrast, secondary information is obtained from a literature review regarding online learning systems and virtual classes. The data analysis technique uses percentages. The results of data analysis are presented descriptively in the following subchapter. Based on the results of research and discussion, it has been known that students' perceptions of learning mathematics using Powton media are perfect. Both male and female students positively perceive learning mathematics by using Powton-based learning media in SMP/MTs. Students get an average student answer of 100% and fall into the "Very Good" category. it explains that animation media is beneficial for students in understanding the lesson.

Abstract

Indonesian education has implemented various curricula that have undergone improvements with each change. Currently, there is an independent curriculum designed to provide opportunities for teachers to develop teaching materials by taking into account the character, interests and talents of students. The independent curriculum has begun to be implemented in Lhokseumawe city junior high schools, but in reality this implementation is not accompanied by socialization and training related to the preparing of learning tools. This results in the teaching and learning process that occurs not in accordance with the system intended by the independent curriculum. Teachers need assistance in order to prepare learning tools so that the objectives  of the independent curriculum can be achieved. One of the alternatives that can be done to overcome this problem is to conduct socialization and training in preparation of learning tools adapted to the independent curriculum for MGMP junior high School teachers in Lhokseumawe City. The purpose of this service is so that teachers, especially junior high school mathematics teachers in Lhokseumawe city who are members of MGMP, can prepare learning tools in accordance with the independent curriculum. The method used in this service is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), where in this activity participants actively participate in the entire process carried out from the initial stage to the final stage. Overall, the stages of activities carried out in this service in the form of training in the preparation of independent curriculum learning tools consist of four stages, namely the planning stage, preparation stage, implementation stage, and evaluation stage.
