Abstract

The research was conducted by researchers at Trienggadeng State Vocational School located on Jl Banda Aceh-Medan KM 152, Kec. Trienggadeng Regency. Pidie Jaya. This research is based on the importance of the network in the ongoing teaching and learning process in the network and computer labs, the network in the lab is currently not managed properly and the distribution of bandwidth is not evenly distributed. To get a good internet connection, it is necessary to distribute bandwidth evenly, which can be done using a proxy router. One of the features for distributing bandwidth evenly in the proxy router can be applied using the simple queue and queue tree methods, knowing network quality can be done using Quality of Service (QoS) measurements. This study aims to determine the analysis of network quality using Qos on proxy routers using the simple queue and queue tree methods. The method used in this study is to use the action research method (action research), the stages of the research are analyzing, data collection, data completeness, making network designs, and taking action. The results obtained for network analysis in a comparative study between simple queue and queue tree networks, the results for the delay obtained by the queue tree are 9 ms, packet loss = 0%, and throughput = 549 k. Whereas the simple queue obtains the value from the QoS measurement by performing calculations with the equation formula to obtain a value of delay = 8 ms, packet loss = 0.15% and throughput = 629 k. Based on the Tiphon standard, it can be concluded that for delay, a queue tree is better with a value above the simple queue with a very good index, the packet loss queue tree is better than the simple queue, the index is very good, the throughput of the simple queue is better compared to the throughput queue tree. This research shows that overall Queue Tree is more optimal for QoS.

Abstract

Students' low mathematical communication skills indicate obstacles in conveying and understanding mathematical ideas, both verbally and in writing. This study aims to analyze students' mathematical communication skills according to Gregorc's thinking style on the topic of relations and functions. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collected through a thinking style questionnaire, a mathematical communication test, and semi-structured interviews. Four eighth-grade students were purposively selected, each representing one type of Gregorc's thinking style. The study's findings indicate that students with an abstract sequential thinking style achieve coherent, logical, and complete mathematical communication, while those with a concrete random thinking style tend to have difficulty conveying ideas systematically. It is concluded that thinking style influences students' mathematical communication styles, so teachers need to consider differences in thinking styles in developing effective lesson plans.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of an analytical firewall on the Mikrotik Cloud Core Router (CCR) device for network protection against Domain Name System (DNS) and Synchronise Flood (SYN Flood attacks in the information technology infrastructure of the North Aceh Regency Government. DNS-based attacks and SYN Flood have demonstrated a significant disruptive capacity for the continuity of electronic public services, illustrating the urgency of robust security protocols on government infrastructure. The study implemented a quantitative-experimental approach, with methodological triangulation in empirical data acquisition through controlled attack simulations, firewall log analysis, and semi-structured interviews with technical personnel. Experiments are designed with variations in attack intensity to evaluate system resilience thresholds, while firewall log analysis facilitates the identification of anomalous patterns through detection algorithms. The analytics process applies parametric evaluation to temporal mitigation metrics, packet processing capacity, and operational implications on network performance, complemented by descriptive statistical analysis that explores data distribution and temporal trends. The results indicate the differential effectiveness of the specific firewall configuration against a specific attack typology, with an empirical determination of optimisation parameters for real-time mitigation. This research contributes to the corpus of knowledge regarding the security of government networks through the derivation of protective models that are adaptive to the operational characteristics of public infrastructure. The findings have substantive implications for cybersecurity policy formulation in the administrative context of local governments, with extensive significance for the implementation of network architectures that are resilient to volumetric attacks and protocol exploitation.

Abstract

In the business world, advertising plays a crucial role in shaping market dynamics. This study analyzes advertising competition among companies by calculating the optimal profits for two to four competitors and postulating a general formula for a larger number of companies. Sensitivity analysis is employed to observe how changes in advertising parameters affect profits. The simulation results indicate that in the case of four companies, the optimal spending (Xopt) ranges from 137246 to 191288, while the optimal profit (Popt) ranges from 38693.1 to 92702. The sensitivity analysis shows that companies with higher advertising effectiveness achieve greater profits, whereas those with lower effectiveness tend to experience reductions in both allocation and profit. With the aid of Maple and Excel, this research extends previous advertising competition models by providing a comprehensive framework for optimizing advertising budgets in oligopolistic markets.

Abstract

Electricity is a vital necessity for society and serves as a key driver across various sectors, including households, businesses, and industries. With the increasing demand for electricity each year, PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Lhokseumawe is required to plan its distribution and power capacity accurately. Inaccurate forecasting may cause imbalances between supply and demand. This study compares two forecasting methods, namely Single Exponential Smoothing (SES) and Double Exponential Smoothing (DES), to predict electricity consumption in the Lhokseumawe region. The dataset consists of monthly electricity consumption per sub-district from 2022 to 2024, with forecasting projections up to 2027. The research stages include data collection, preprocessing, application of SES and DES methods, accuracy evaluation using Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), and the design of a web-based system using Python and Flask. The results indicate that the SES method achieved higher accuracy with a MAPE value of 5.85%, while the DES method obtained a MAPE value of 7.87%. These findings suggest that SES is more suitable for data with random fluctuations, whereas DES is better applied to data with trend patterns. By comparing the MAPE values, this study provides insights into which method is more optimal for electricity consumption forecasting in Lhokseumawe. The outcomes are expected to contribute practically to PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Lhokseumawe in formulating more effective and efficient electricity distribution strategies.

Abstract

Classification is the process of grouping data into specific categories based on their characteristics or features, which plays a crucial role in the analysis, decision-making, and prediction of new data. In academic settings, classification is used to determine the Single Tuition Fee to place students according to their economic ability. Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic has implemented the UKT system since 2020 with eight categories, but some students are still placed in UKT groups that do not match the results of the manual process, which has limited accuracy. This study uses the Random Forest method as a technology-based solution to improve the accuracy and objectivity of UKT classification. The dataset used consists of 10,000 student data with 10 variables, covering economic and social information. The research process includes data preprocessing, Random Forest model training, performance evaluation using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, and model stability testing through 10-fold K-Fold Cross Validation. The results show that Random Forest is able to classify most UKT classes well, especially classes 0–5 and 7. Class 6 has lower performance with a recall of 0.39 and an F1-score of 0.56 due to the limited number of samples. The overall accuracy of the model reaches 96%, while K-Fold Cross Validation produces an average accuracy of 95.50% with a standard deviation of 0.66%, indicating the model is stable and able to generalize to new data. This study proves that Random Forest is effective in UKT classification, producing an objective, fair, and efficient system. This implementation model supports data-driven decision-making in higher education and increases transparency in UKT determination.

Abstract

The advancement of technology in the field of image recognition has significantly facilitated and improved the effectiveness of object detection in computer-based banknote recognition systems. This study aims to automatically identify banknotes based on their denominations, with the objective of minimizing human errors—such as lack of concentration, fatigue, and other factors—and enabling its application in ATMs and automated payment systems. This research compares the accuracy levels and detection success rates between the YOLO and SSD algorithms in recognizing the denominations of banknotes. The YOLO model operates by dividing the image into grids and predicting bounding boxes along with object classes in a single step, resulting in fast and consistent detection. In contrast, the SSD model employs a multi-scale approach by utilizing feature maps from multiple levels to generate predictions. The parameters used in this study include 7 classes of Indonesian banknotes: Rp1,000, Rp2,000, Rp5,000, Rp10,000, Rp20,000, Rp50,000, and Rp100,000. A total of 353 images were used in the dataset, and three images from each class were selected for testing purposes. The results of the study indicate a significant performance difference. The YOLO algorithm achieved a 100% accuracy rate under both normal and low-light conditions, while the SSD algorithm achieved an accuracy rate of 87.2% under normal lighting and 91.4% under low-light conditions.
