Abstract

In the learning process, having access to various educational materials is a fundamental necessity. The information needed to understand thematic education can be found in a variety of learning resources. Where the purpose of providing teaching materials is to make the learning process more interesting and easy to learn, With all the basic skills that need to be mastered, the purpose of developing teaching materials is to make the learning process more interesting and easy to learn. Teachers must have the creative abilities and inventiveness needed to produce teaching materials in order to maximize the potential for developing creative teaching materials for thematic learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of grade IV teachers at SD Negeri 004 Teluk Pinang, Gaung Anak Serka District to make thematic teaching materials based on the 2013 curriculum. The type of research presented here is known as quantitative descriptive research. While class IV-A teachers are the topic of this research, the ability of class teachers to produce thematic teaching materials based on the 2013 curriculum is the object of this research. The presentation formula was used in analyzing the data collected for this investigation. Based on the findings, class IV A teachers at SDN 004 Teluk Pinang, Gaung Anak Serka District, were able to develop thematic teaching materials based on the 2013 curriculum; however, teachers do not use teaching materials to facilitate learning in their classrooms. This is supported by observational data, which obtained 70 percent of the total votes and is included in the strong category.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to think critically and mathematically when solving problems. The purpose of this study was to analyze the ability to think critically mathematically in fourth grade students at public elementary school 001 Air Tiris. This research uses descriptive and qualitative research methods. The participants in this study were all children enrolled in the fourth grade at 001 Air Tiris Public Elementary School. There are 24 fourth grade students in total. The data collected is in the form of written assessments, direct interviews, and mathematical calculations. Based on the results of the research, the level of mathematical critical thinking ability of the fourth grade students at public elementary school 001 Air Tiris is included in the medium category. The average achievement of the correct answer is 50.0%. Each student has unique abilities, so teachers should give them more critical thinking practice. Teachers can develop critical thinking strategies or learning models to improve students' mathematical thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study describes the improvement of the Team Assisted Individualization learning model in the fourth grade of SD Negeri 028 Kubang Jaya in improving students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This research is classroom action research, which consists of two cycles. The subjects in this study were one teacher and fifteen fourth-grade students at 028 Kubang Jaya Elementary School. Data collection was carried out through observation, testing, and documentation, with qualitative data analysis using percentages. Based on the research results and data analysis, it was shown that before the action, 11 (73%) students were in the less critical category, and 3 (20%) students were in the critical category. 6.6% of students are in the quite critical category. Team-assisted, individualized learning applies remedial actions. After taking corrective action with the team-assisted individualization learning model. Then corrective action is taken with the team-assisted individualization learning model. In cycle I, students' critical thinking skills increased; 6 students, or 40%, were in the critical category, and 9 students, or 60%, were in the moderately critical category. Furthermore, in cycle II, the ability to think critically has increased: 8 students, or 53%, are in the very critical category, 4 students, or 26%, are in the moderately critical category, and 3 students, or 20%, are in the critical category. In cycle II, students' critical thinking skills have achieved the target success of the action set. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the team-assisted individualization learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills in fourth-grade mathematics at Public Elementary School 028 Kubang Jaya.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the influence of parents' educational level on student achievement at Public Elementary School 001, Air Tiris. The data collection process here involves a combination of techniques between documentation and observation. There are several types of data analysis, two of which are descriptive analysis techniques and inferential analysis techniques. Twenty-four students from 001 Airtiris Public Elementary School were included in this study as research subjects. The results of this study show that there is a relationship between parents' education and student achievement. To ensure their children do well in school, parents must supervise and guide them during their homeschooling. It is suggested that they can help improve their children's achievement. This is due to the fact that research findings show that parents are the most effective educators for their children's academic success. Students who study at home to achieve good academic results.

Abstract

Growing student motivation is one of the techniques in developing the ability and willingness to learn. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of instructional media on students' learning motivation in mathematics in elementary schools. This type of research is "ex post facto" with a research design using a one-shot case study. The subjects in this study were class IV students at SDN 028 Kubang Jaya class A and B, each of which had 15 students. The sampling technique uses non-probability sampling, namely purposive sampling. The research instruments used were observation and questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses product moment correlation with the help of SPSS 23. SPSS analysis of the product moment correlation shows the significance level of sig. (2-tailed) = 0.531, it can be concluded that the two variables are included in the "enough" category. From this analysis it can be concluded that there is an influence of learning media on learning motivation of 28.19%, other variables not mentioned in the study reach 71.81%.

Abstract

This study uses a STEAM approach to learning outcomes of biological innovation, using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only design with a nonequivalent group design. The population in this study are fourth-semester students of Biology Tadris UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, class IVA, IVB, IVC, and VI D, totaling 36 people. Samples were taken using class IVA and IV D with the purposive sampling technique. The instrument in this study was in the form of five essay test questions. Data analysis used t-test and correlation test (phi (Φ)). Analysis of t-test data from the calculation results shows that the use of the STEAM approach is proven to be better than online lectures without using the STEAM approach. The results of the study were continued with a correlation test (phi test (Φ)), from the results of the calculations, it was concluded that the STEAM approach had a significant effect on the learning outcomes of students’ cognitive domains in the biology learning innovation course.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan STEAM terhadap hasil belajar inovasi biologi, menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain posttest only dengan nonequivalent group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester IV Biologi Tadris UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi kelas IVA, IVB, IVC, dan VI D yang berjumlah 36 orang. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelas VIA dan IV D diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa 5 soal tes essay. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t dan uji korelasi (phi (Φ)). Analisis data uji t Dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penggunaan pendekatan STEAM terbukti lebih baik daripada perkuliahahan online tanpa menggunakan pendekatan STEAM. Hasil penelitian dilanjutkan dengan uji korelasi (uji phi (Φ)), dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pendekatan STEAM berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar ranah kognitif mahasiswa pada mata kuliah inovasi pembelajaran biologi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan hambatan belajar (obstacle learning), mendesain rencana didaktik, melakukan aktifitas dedaktik dan menemukan perubahan setelah dilakukannya tahap retrospektif. Metode menggunakan DDR (Didactical Design Research). Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 5 Sekolah Dasar. Data diperoleh melalui proses observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lemahnya kemampuan visualisasi siswa dan kemampuan penguasaan konsep dasar bangun-bangun ruang maka perlukan benda-benda konret dalam mengajarkan konsep jaring-jaring bangun ruang. Media tekhnologi yang sangat membantu dalam menanamkan konsep jaring-jaring bangun ruang adalah media augmented reality (AR). Perubahan yang dilakukan terdapat pada aktifitas penanaman konsep bagian-bagian lingkaran dengan melakukan aktifitas menemukan jumlah sisi dan titik sudut lingkaran menggunakan media konkret lingkaran.Siswa yang memiliki kemampuan  visualisasi yang rendah akan kesulitan memahami gambar yang muncul di layar handphone, karena gambar yang muncul kecil sehingg menyulitkan siswa yang memiliki kecerdasan visual yang rendah.

Abstract

Culture-based education holds significant value as a tool and strategy for individuals and society in the information and technology age. Consequently, the researchers aim to explore ethnomathematics in typical Bugis food called Tumbu' Bugis. This study employed a qualitative method, utilizing an ethnographic approach and involving local communities familiar with the research study, specifically the Bugis tribe. Through observation and interviews, it was found that the typical food of Tumbu' Bugis contains the concept of geometry on the leaves used as Tumbu' wrappers and on the shape of Tumbu'. The concept of 3D shapes was also found, especially tubes (cylinders). In addition, there is also an algebraic concept in Tumbu' regarding the number of leaves needed to make Tumbu' and the number of Tumbu wrappers produced in one banana leaf. Tumbu' can be used as a medium for learning mathematics in plane geometry, including the properties and area of circumference and rectangular shapes. Comparison materials may also involve Tumbu' Bugis specialties. In conclusion, the typical food of Tumbu' Bugis encapsulates mathematical concepts, facilitating the teaching and learning process for teachers and students, ultimately aiding in achieving learning goals.

Abstract

Mathematics is a scientific field that delves into numbers, measurements, and formulas. When mathematical concepts intertwine with culture, it forms what is known as ethnomathematics. Integrating mathematics with cultural elements can significantly enhance the learning experience. This research aims to identify and elucidate mathematical elements in the traditional Minangkabau art form of Randai. The methodology employed in this study is qualitative descriptive, utilizing a library research approach. No field studies were conducted; the research relied solely on a literature review. The data utilized comprises documents derived from studies of Randai art and other written references relevant to the research problem. The researcher serves as the primary instrument, indispensable to this study. Data collection methods include documentation and an extensive literature review. The findings reveal that traditional Minangkabau randai art encompasses not only artistic expression but also philosophical insights, cultural values, and mathematical elements, known as ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics manifests in Randai art through its form, spatial dimensions, and musical instruments.

Abstract

Jalo cake is a traditional cake found in several regions in Indonesia, including the Kampar area. This research aims to explain the relationship between the typical Kampar jalo cake and mathematics, especially in the cultural context of the Kampar community. The methods and approaches used are exploratory and ethnographic. Data was collected through literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. Researchers rely on field observations and interviews in collecting data. The uniqueness of this research is that the Kampar community and students are not yet aware that jalo cake is related to mathematics learning. The connection between mathematics and jalo cakes includes material about triangular shapes and cylinder shapes, which are studied in the 5th grade of elementary school.
