Abstract

Highlights This study found that ESKAPE pathogenic infections at Universitas Airlangga Hospital were dominated by Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Klebsiella pneumoniae, with sputum as the most commonly collected specimen providing valuable data for infection control strategies. Most patients exhibited significant clinical manifestations involving neurological disorders, with the respiratory system being the most affected information that may enhance the effectiveness of patient management in the hospital.   ABSTRACT Background: Infections pose a significant threat in Indonesia, particularly in healthcare settings where healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are prevalent. At a hospital in Jakarta, the prevalence of ESKAPE pathogens was reported to be 69.8%. However, detailed data on the infection profiles of these pathogens remain scarce. This underscores the importance of studying ESKAPE pathogenic bacteria to better understand their characteristics. Objective: This study aimed to determine the infection profile of ESKAPE pathogens in hospitalized patients at Universitas Airlangga Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia in 2022. Material and Method: This descriptive observational study employed a retrospective design using secondary data from non-ICU inpatients at Universitas Airlangga Hospital infected with ESKAPE pathogens in 2022. Total sampling was applied to eligible medical records. Result: The study included 119 specimens from inpatients infected with ESKAPE pathogens that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of these, 78% were Gram-negative bacterial infections, with Klebsiella pneumoniae being the most prevalent (29%). Sputum was the most commonly collected specimen (49%). Most patients were male (57%), aged 56–65 years (29%), and had no comorbidities (46%). Additionally, 63% of patients had used invasive devices during hospitalization. The majority were admitted to low-care inpatient wards. The primary clinical features were neurological complaints (29%) and respiratory disorders (37%), predominantly associated with Klebsiella pneumoniae. Conclusion: ESKAPE infections were primarily caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae, a Gram-negative bacterium, most frequently identified in sputum samples. The predominant clinical manifestations were decreased consciousness and respiratory disorders. Affected patients were mainly male, aged ≥56 years, hospitalized in low-care wards, with a history of invasive device use and no comorbidities.

Abstract

Starting from the limitations of real learning media in learning, this study aims to explore students' perceptions of the use of Mini Cultivator as a learning medium. The research method used is quantitative using the urgency, seriousness, and growth (USG) matrix. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire. The results of the study showed that students' perceptions on the aspect of media effectiveness received the highest priority with a percentage of 25.07%, followed by motivation at 25.06%, usefulness at 25.04%, and innovation at 24.81%. Students' positive perceptions of Mini Cultivator media are reflected in the results of the USG analysis. The results of the assessment on the "urgency" dimension indicate students' awareness of the importance of using Mini Cultivator in learning. The "usefulness" dimension shows that students see Mini Cultivator media not only as an addition, but as an important element in learning. The "development" aspect shows that Mini Cultivator media is relevant and closely related to the topic or concept being studied.

Abstract

Abstract

The availability of clean water in Wamena City is a target for fulfilling local government development. In the suburbs, a Public Hydrant (HU) in the Sinakma area has been constructed to meet the community's clean water needs. The fulfillment of clean water needs for network distribution has also existed in Wamena City which was built in 2016 sourced from the Walesi River with the construction of a reservoir in the Napua area, but the distribution was disrupted because the Napua Intake was damaged by landslides. However, due to the condition of landslides and logging that are quite a lot in the upstream area, currently the intake does not function and affects the distribution of water in Wamena City. In 2023, an Intake and several reservoirs with the Wasi River water source in Walesi District have also been built, which are expected to meet the city's water needs. But in reality, the building has not been able to meet the needs of clean water because it cannot capture the flow of water properly.

Abstract

Rivers are one of the sources of water for the life of living things. Rivers are often used in various ways by humans. The Bonto River is one of the rivers in Yahukimo Regency that is used as raw water for drinking water. In order to meet the need for clean water, it is necessary to analyze the water quality of the Bonto River. Determining the source of raw water in an area is the first step in determining the location or place as a raw water supplier for clean water treatment purposes.  The purpose of this study is to identify the water quality of the Bonto river and evaluate the condition of the Bonto river water with the water quality standards that have been set to be used as an alternative source of raw water for clean water treatment. Water sampling in this study was carried out by observation and measurement directly in the field, and laboratory tests. Raw water quality data is compared to the current raw water and drinking water quality standards. The water quality standards used are the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 492/MENKES/SK/IV/2010, dated April 19, 2010 concerning the Terms and Conditions and Supervision of Drinking Water Quality, and in accordance with the water quality requirements. Each sample of water and sediment is examined in the laboratory to be analyzed according to its needs, namely regarding water quality. Testing of water quality samples was carried out at the Papua Regional Health Laboratory Center.
