Abstract

The National Population and Family Planning Board of North Sumatra Province continue to socialize the ideal number of children in a family of 2, but the TFR is still high at 2.9. Information about the Family Planning (KB) program expected to change people's thinking patterns about the number of children. Ideal. The research objective was the influence of media frequency and exposure to information about kb on the perception of the ideal number of children. This study is a further analysis of the 2017 IDHS using a cross-sectional. The population in this study were all women of childbearing age 15-49 years. The sample in this study was 2300 WUS — bivariate analysis using cross-tabulation and chi-square test. The results of this study indicate that the respondents who stated the ideal child were 1-2 people as many as 48% while 52% stated that the ideal child was ≥ three people. There is a relationship between the frequency of reading newspapers (p = 0.01), listening to the radio (p = 0.028), watching TV (P <0.001), using the internet (P <0.001), reading exposure to family planning programs in newspapers (0.001), the radio (0.005), exposure to seeing family planning programs on TV (0.001) with the ideal number of children. The National Population and Family Planning Board of North Sumatra Province must be able to choose effective information media to increase public perceptions about the ideal number of children, such as urban communities better use radio and internet media and rural communities use newspaper information media.

Abstract

Every family wants to have a certain number of children, this is inseparable from the value of children in each different family so sometimes a family wants 3 to 5 children. The ideal number of children owned by a person will frustrate the achievement of the 2 children program launched by the Indonesian government. The ideal number of children according to someone will be influenced by many things such as education, housing and access to information media. This study uses secondary data of 2017 IDHS using a structured questionnaire and asked the WUS. The study population was married women of childbearing age in North Sumatra Province. The sample in this study was 2459 women of childbearing age who were married. The agency in the 2017 IDHS research used a structured questionnaire. Bivariate data analysis uses Chi-square test and for multivariate analysis uses ordinal logistic regression. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between residence (p value <0.001), level of education (p value <0.001), radio listening access (p value <0.023), access to the internet with the ideal number of children (p value <0.023) with a preference for the ideal number of children. There was no relationship between family planning field visits (p = 0.376) with the ideal number of children of childbearing age.National Population and Family Planning Agency  must be more intense in providing education and outreach about the ideal number of children to women of childbearing age in urban areas. North Sumatea Province BKKBN must be more intense in socializing enough 2 children's programs on the internet and radio media so that women of childbearing age have a preference for the ideal number of 2 children.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a very dangerous problem, especially with the transmission of STIs. The incidence of STIs is still high because people's knowledge of STIs is still low, and people are still ashamed to admit to STI sufferers so that STI cases are still high. The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis of risk factors of sexually transmitted infections in North Sumatera province (secondary data analysis for the 2017 IDHS). This study conducted a secondary data analysis of the 2017 IDHS in North Sumatra Province. This research was conducted on 1717 women of childbearing age in North Sumatra Province. This study used the Chi-square test and Prevalent Rate (PR). The results of this study show chi-square analysis results showed a relationship between the source for STI knowledge: health professional (p 0.001), knowledge of the source for STI knowledge: a religious institution (p 0.001), male STI symptoms (p 0.001) with sexual transmitted infections symptoms with a p-value 0.001. A woman of childbearing age who has a partner with STI symptoms has a 26.088 times greater risk of suffering from an STI than a woman of childbearing age whose partner does not have STI symptoms. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are related to STI knowledge: health professional, knowledge of the source for STI knowledge: a religious institution, male STI symptoms. Symptoms of STIs in women of childbearing age partners are closely related to the incidence of STIs in women of childbearing age.

Abstract

Background: Midwives' actions under service standards are useful in applying the norms and performance levels needed to achieve the desired results. Midwives in providing antenatal care will have a significant impact on antenatal care services Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design. This study's population was 41 midwives who worked in the District of Kota Pinang, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency (total sampling). The instrument used was a questionnaire about age, education, knowledge, attitudes, and midwives' actions in providing antenatal care. The bivariate analysis used exact fisher test and prevalent rate (PR). Results: The exact fisher test results showed that the midwife's age (p = 0.192), education (p = 0.175), knowledge (p = 0.390) (PR = 2.311) were not related to the midwife's actions in antenatal care. The variable of midwife attitudes (p = 0.018) (PR = 5,500) was related to the actions of midwives in antenatal care. Conclusion: A midwife who has a good attitude has a risk taking good actions than a midwife who has a bad attitude. It is hoped that the South Labuhanbatu Health Office will be more active in improving the skills of midwives in providing antenatal services with training on antenatal care..

Abstract

Background: Postpartum birth control is one of the family planning programs that still have low coverage. Midwives have a big role in increasing postpartum family planning coverage. Postpartum mothers will often contact the midwife so that the midwife can advise the postpartum mother to use postpartum birth control. The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of midwives and postpartum mothers in the use of postpartum family planning in the Asahan regency Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design, the location study was Asahan regency, and the population was 81 postpartum mothers in Asahan Regency. The researcher used purposive sampling with the criteria of giving birth in the last one month and having more than two children. The instrument used was a questionnaire. This research will conduct cross-tabulation distribution. Results: The results of the cross-tabulation showed that 24 birth control users at the midwife's clinic gave birth at a midwife clinic, 18 people gave birth at a midwife clinic (22.2%), and 21 people had postnatal health checks (25, 9%), received advice on using postpartum family planning as many as 15 people (18.5%) and received family planning counselling after delivery as many as 14 people (17.3%). This study indicated that postpartum family planning was carried out in the midwife clinic as many as 18 people (22.2%) and in the hospital or public health centres as many as nine people (11.1%). Conclusion: Postpartum mothers who do postpartum health checks to midwives are more likely to use postpartum family planning than postpartum mothers who do not undergo postpartum health checks. Postpartum mothers who advised to use postpartum family planning from a midwife will have a greater risk of using postpartum FP than postpartum mothers who do not receive postpartum FP.

Abstract

The Family Planning Program (FPP) is one of the strategies carried out by the government to suppress the increase in population growth. Unfortunately, women of reproductive age (WRA) often stop participating in FPP or drop it out, unaware of increasing the risk of conception. This study uses secondary data from the 2017 IDHS for 945 WRAs who have used modern FPP methods. It uses cross-tabulation to determine the distribution of husbands' approval regarding the FPP method, wanting more children, side effects of family planning, the role of family planning service providers, and the incidence of dropping out of FPP in North Sumatra Province. The results indicated that 238 out of 707 WRAs (25.8%) dropped out of FPP. The FPP dropping out in North Sumatra Province mostly occurred to WRAs who experienced side effects of FPP methods (238 WRAs) and who changed their minds to want more children (67 WRAs). The BKKBN of North Sumatra Province must provide training to FPP service providers on the side effects of the methods to improve their counseling skills, which must be used properly to serve the WRAs before they decide to use contraceptives.
