Abstract

Abstract

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is widely recognized as an effective approach to developing students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills. However, its implementation often encounters significant challenges, particularly in teachers’ ability to identify relevant contextual issues. This study investigates the perceptions and challenges faced by students in the Teacher Professional Education (TPE) Program in selecting and designing contextual issues for PBL. Using a sequential exploratory mixed-method design, the research began with a qualitative phase analyzing student assignments, followed by a quantitative phase involving questionnaires to assess perceptions and influencing factors. Results revealed that most TPE students have not yet fully developed the ability to select appropriate issues to serve as contexts in PBL. 90% of participants found it "Difficult" to identify relevant issues, while only 10% considered it "Easy." Among the factors contributing to these difficulties, limited knowledge of relevant issues (30%) was the most significant, followed by a lack of understanding of PBL concepts (23%) and difficulty connecting theory to practice (18%). Other barriers included limited access to resources (13%), time constraints (8%), and other minor reasons (8%). These findings emphasize the importance of structured and practical training programs to enhance teachers' competence in identifying contextual issues for PBL. The study concludes with recommendations for designing intensive professional development programs and highlights the need for further research with larger and more diverse samples to validate these findings.

Abstract

The memorization and understanding of the Qur'an play a vital role in shaping a Qur'anic generation. This study aims to explore the memorization patterns in the Tahfidz and Tarjamah Qur'an programs at Darul Hufadz Islamic Senior High School. Using a qualitative research approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation from 38 informants, including the principal, five mentor teachers, and 32 students. Data analysis followed a process of reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings indicate that the Tahfidzul Qur'an program follows a daily memorization pattern known as "One Day One Verse," where students memorize one verse and its translation each day. The program emphasizes regular recitation, memorization, comprehension, and the practical application of the Qur'an’s teachings, with parental oversight. Collaborative reading sessions between teachers and students, coupled with repetition—where verses are repeated over 40 times and listened to more than 60 times—reinforce the memorization process. This structured approach effectively cultivates a Qur'anic generation, ensuring deep engagement with the Qur'an. The study highlights the importance of consistent memorization routines and active teacher involvement in fostering both cognitive and spiritual development among students.

Abstract

The challenges of 21st-century education require students to be proficient in learning, digitally literate and have a strong character. As the learning process is still teacher-centered, with the lecture method predominating, students require additional motivation. When delivering educational content, students must demonstrate zeal and pose more questions. Counting box media is anticipated to be a substitute for instilling character through problems that students must be able to solve when learning mathematics counting. The author attempted to implement counting box media to enhance the mathematics learning outcomes of MI students because it aids and facilitates counting. The counting box learning media is a box made of thick cardboard with essential tools and materials added to it. This study utilized the experimental design method with a Pretest-Posttest Control design and Cluster Random Sampling technique. The data collection method utilized in this study is learning outcomes exams. For processing data with SPSS 16. Tests hypotheses using the Paired Samples Test. This investigation yielded exciting findings. In addition to influencing student learning outcomes, counting box media can also help instill character in madrasa students. The characteristics and characteristics of these characters will be discussed in this article.
