Abstract

Chronic exposure to cotton dust in the textile manufacturing industry has been a possible risk factor for pulmonary obstruction. Not many studies, however, have investigated its impact in combination with personal variables like age, gender, and length of service, particularly in developing countries. The present study investigated the impact of cotton dust exposure, age, gender, and length of service on the incidence of pulmonary obstruction among textile workers in Surakarta, Indonesia. Observational analytic study using cross-sectional design was done on 88 eligible workers. Quantitation of exposure to cotton dust was done with a High-Volume Air Sampler and lung function ascertained using spirometry. Data analysis was done through simple and multiple binary logistic regression at a significance level of 0.05. The incidence of pulmonary obstruction was 56.8%. Being exposed to cotton dust levels exceeding the threshold limit value (TLV) of 0.2 mg/m³ significantly increased the risk of pulmonary obstruction (OR: 4.18; 95% CI: 1.51–11.63; p=0.006). Employment duration was also significantly associated with pulmonary obstruction (OR: 1.21 per year; 95% CI: 1.03–1.44; p=0.023), while age and gender were not significant predictors. The accuracy of the final model was 75%, which is considered to be acceptable in occupational health studies in predictive modeling. The current research reaffirms that long-term exposure to cotton dust and extended working hours are critical risk factors for pulmonary obstruction in textile industry workers. Therefore, it is recommended to long-working-hour employees to have proper control of the exposure and continuous lung function monitoring.

Abstract

This study examines how digital servant leadership (DSL) influences hackathon innovation performance in Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), with a focus on the mediating role of AKHLAK cultural values. Amidst ongoing digital transformation, SOEs have embraced DSL as a leadership style that emphasizes inclusivity, empowerment, and ethical service delivery. The study utilizes a mixed method approach comprising descriptive statistics and Structural Equation Modeling using Partial Least Squares (PLS SEM) to analyze quantitative and qualitative data gathered between November 2023 and January 2024. Key findings reveal that DSL significantly enhances innovation outcomes by fostering a psychologically safe, collaborative environment essential for successful hackathon execution. The presence of AKHLAK values Amanah, Kompeten, Harmonis, Loyal, Adaptif, and Kolaboratif strengthens cultural alignment, acting as a mediator that links leadership behaviors to employee engagement and innovation performance. Hackathons hosted by SOEs demonstrate varied formats, scales, and domains, yet all share critical success factors such as structured mentorship, inclusive participation, and strong post event support systems. The analysis of measurement and structural models shows robust construct validity and reliability across all latent variables. Convergent and discriminant validity meet accepted thresholds, while predictive relevance and model fit indices confirm the soundness of the proposed framework. Statistical mediation effects highlight the transformative impact of AKHLAK in linking DSL to performance gains in public service innovation. These findings contribute to public sector leadership theory and practice by proposing a replicable framework that combines digital servant leadership, AKHLAK-based cultural alignment, and participatory innovation formats. The Indonesian experience offers insights for other developing nations seeking to embed ethical leadership into digital transformation agendas. By institutionalizing values and enabling employee driven innovation, SOEs can better navigate complex governance landscapes while delivering measurable public value.

Abstract

Predictive analytics (PA) has become a cornerstone of digital transformation in banking, offering tools for improved decision-making across risk, marketing, and operations. This study investigates the moderating role of organizational readiness—comprising infrastructure, talent, and culture—on the relationship between PA adoption and strategic performance in banks. A cross-sectional survey of 50 banking institutions was conducted, measuring predictive analytics usage, organizational readiness scores, and key financial performance indicators such as Return on Assets (ROA), Non-Performing Loans (NPL), and cost-to-income ratios. Using hierarchical regression and interaction analysis, findings reveal that while PA adoption positively influences strategic performance, its impact is significantly enhanced in institutions with high organizational readiness. Institutions with stronger infrastructure, better-trained staff, and supportive analytics cultures reported higher returns from analytics initiatives. These results underscore the importance of socio-technical alignment in unlocking the full potential of predictive analytics. Banks are encouraged to view PA not as a standalone technological tool but as part of a broader transformation requiring cultural, structural, and strategic integration.
