Abstract

This paper seeks to highlight the similarities and differences of science, Islam, and the philosophy of science. The discussion of this paper begins with the assignment of definitions of these three topics. The next discussion is the concept of the three such as the three components of science and the four requirements or rules of science; teachings and objectives of Islam; and the two tasks, objects, and benefits of the philosophy of science. The relation between science and philosophy of science is evidenced from the structure of objectivity, the subjectivity of scientists, and the efforts of control or judgment. The relationship between religion and philosophy of science can be seen from the dominance of morality in the ideal imagination as a standard of product, attitude, and activity. Another proof of the relationship between Islam and the philosophy of science is the variant of Islamic epistemology in the form of bayānī, burhānī, and 'irfānī. The relationship between science and religion of Islam is reflected in the appreciation of al-Qur'ān and al-Ḥadīth which is responded by the presence of religious educational institutions primordially.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the concept of brotherhood of hope in QS Al-Hujurat verses 11-13, to describe the concept of brotherhood of hope in the Qur'an according to Tafsir al-Misbah and Tafsir al-Azhar in QS Al-Hujurat verses 11-13, describe the implications of brotherhood of hope in QS Al-Hujurat verses 11-13. The method used is library research with a comparative approach and the theory of meaning and understanding between Tafsir al-Misbah and Tafsir al-Azhar in QS al-Hujurat: 11-13. The data analysis process with data collection, data reduction and conclusions. This study explains that the siblinghood of hope is formed from several types of relationships, namely: traditional full sibling individuals who have the same biological parents, half sibling individuals who have one parent in common, step sibling individuals who do not have the same biological parents but have a relationship resulting from marriage between parents, adoptive sibling individuals who are legally adopted by a family, and fictive sibling individuals who have been related siblings. The brotherhood of hope according to M. Quraish Shihab is a brotherhood that is not limited to relationships between believers but across religions and social groups. According to Buya Hamka, the relationship is based on ideological similarities and one descent.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Progressive Islam values and the concept of Islam Nusantara as a foundation for anti-bullying education models in Indonesia. Using a systematic literature review method, this research analyzes how the progressive Islamic values developed by Muhammadiyah—emphasizing rahmah (compassion), 'adl (justice), and tajdid (renewal)—and the cultural approach of Islam Nusantara promoted by Nahdlatul Ulama—emphasizing tasamuh (tolerance), wasathiyyah (moderation), and musyawarah—can be synergistically integrated to build comprehensive anti-bullying education. The findings indicate that bullying in Indonesian education is a complex socio-cultural phenomenon requiring holistic intervention. The integration of both Islamic approaches offers a powerful framework encompassing curriculum, school culture, and systemic policy dimensions. Implementation faces contextual challenges, including rhetoric-practice gaps, limited teacher capacity, cultural resistance, and resource constraints. Success factors include macro-level policy support, strategic partnerships, student empowerment, and evidence-based approaches. This research contributes to the development of culturally and religiously contextualized anti-bullying education literature and offers a conceptual blueprint for Islamic schools in Indonesia.

Abstract

Disappointment is one of the most prevalent negative emotions experienced by adolescents and can disrupt psychological well-being if not properly managed. This study aims to develop an integrative Islamic model of emotion regulation based on the Qur’anic concepts of tafakkur (cognitive reappraisal) and tadzakkur (spiritual meaning-making). Employing a qualitative approach, this research employed a literature study method and a thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses containing the expressions "la’allakum tatafakkarun" and "la’allakum tadzakkarun."  Data were examined through classical-to-modern interpretations and connected with contemporary psychological theories, including Gross’s emotion regulation framework, Pargament’s religious coping, and Park’s meaning-making model. The findings demonstrated that tafakkur functions as a rational-reflective process that allows individuals to reinterpret disappointment, while tadzakkur strengthens emotional recovery by reconstructing meaning through divine awareness and remembrance. Both serve as complementary mechanisms for cognitive and spiritual regulation, promoting emotional resilience and holistic well-being in Muslim adolescents. This study provides a conceptual contribution to Islamic Psychology by bridging Qur’anic epistemology and modern psychological theory. It also suggests that the integration of tafakkur and tadzakkur can be applied in character education and spiritually-based counseling interventions to help adolescents manage emotional distress constructively.

Abstract

This study contributes to the state of the art by addressing the scarcity of empirical research on homesickness within the unique context of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which differ substantially from Western residential education settings commonly examined in the literature. While previous studies have explored homesickness, social adaptation, and academic stress in general boarding or international student populations, this research advances the field by integrating these constructs with family attachment and prior separation experiences as moderators. Data were obtained from pesantren students in Yogyakarta region utilizing a cross-sectional survey approach and analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The research utilized five validated tools to assess social adaptation, academic stress, homesickness, prior separation experiences, and familial attachment. The model accounted for 65.8% of the variance in homesickness levels. Social adaptation markedly diminished homesickness (β = -0.241, p < 0.001), whereas academic stress exacerbated it (β = 0.326, p < 0.001). Family attachment was identified as the most significant predictor of homesickness (β = 0.487, p < 0.001), suggesting that stronger familial connections paradoxically heighten feelings of homesickness. Previous separation experience acted as a protective factor (β = -0.198, p < 0.001) and attenuated the association between academic stress and homesickness. The findings indicate that homesickness in pesantren is a complex issue necessitating specialized intervention programs that take into account adolescents' attachment styles and prior separation experiences to improve psychological well-being and adaptive outcomes.

Abstract

One of the most essential values in the Islamic boarding school education system is the concept of the Panca Jiwa Pondok that was developed by Imam Zarkasyi in the Gontor Boarding School. These values serve as a guideline for students' lives and reflect the richness of local wisdom that can be developed within the scientific framework of Islamic Psychology. This article aims to critically examine the relevance of the five values of the Panca Jiwa Pondok to modern psychological theories such as Logotherapy, Self-Determination Theory, Positive Psychology, Attachment Theory, and Existential Psychology. This article analyzes the academic literature from indexed journals in the last ten years through the qualitative literature study method. It relates it to Qur'anic verses and Hadith as the primary normative sources. The study results show a strong wedge of meaning between Islamic values that live in Islamic boarding schools and fundamental concepts in modern psychology. The integration between the local values of Islamic boarding schools, Islamic teachings, and contemporary psychological theories has the potential to strengthen the construction of Islamic Psychology that is more contextual and relevant in answering the educational needs and spiritual mental development of students in the contemporary era. This study emphasizes the urgency of developing Islamic Psychology that is not only normative but also rooted in the social and cultural reality of the ummah.
