Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of products and promotions on consumer purchasing decisions in the Shopee marketplace, with purchase motivation as a mediating variable. The approach used is a quantitative approach with an explanatory research type to test and prove the hypothesis of the relationship between variables. The theory used as a basis is the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which explains that positive attitudes, social support, and perceived control play an important role in shaping consumer intentions and behavior. Data were obtained from Shopee consumers in Malang City who made non-food and non-drink purchases during the COVID-19 pandemic, using a judgmental sampling technique. The results of the study indicate that products and promotions have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, both directly and through purchase motivation as a mediating variable. These findings reinforce the importance of product quality, promotional strategies, and the role of consumer motivation in increasing online purchasing decisions on e-commerce platforms.

Abstract

Abstract: The increasingly intense competition in the modern banking industry demands strategic human resource (HR) management to maintain competitive advantage. The success of financial institutions, particularly Bank Jatim as one of the largest regional development banks in Indonesia, is determined not only by asset and profit growth but also by the quality of employee performance, as they serve as the frontline in delivering services. Internal challenges such as the effectiveness of reward programs, the relevance of training, and variations in employee work motivation have the potential to affect the company’s target achievement, despite positive trends in financial indicators. This study aims to analyze the effect of rewards and training on employee performance at Bank Jatim, Lumajang Branch, with work motivation as an intervening variable. The study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design, involving 127 employees as respondents. Data were collected using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0. The results indicate that rewards and training have a significant positive effect on employee performance, while work motivation does not significantly affect performance nor mediate the influence of the two variables. Rewards have the strongest effect through interpersonal recognition, while training is more impactful through instructor quality, though the relevance of training materials still needs improvement. Work motivation tends to be high in terms of self-actualization but low in terms of job security, thus limiting its contribution to performance.

Abstract

The banking industry faces growing competition due to technological advances, shifting consumer behavior, and digital innovation. In this context, the success of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Tulungagung Branch depends on the quality of its human resources (HR), which serve both operational and strategic roles. This study aims to examine the effect of training and competence on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable. A quantitative explanatory research design was applied, involving 70 employees as respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 3.0. The analysis confirmed strong validity and reliability (loading factor 0.731–0.912; Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70). Training and competence explained 70.6% of performance variance and 71.5% of motivation variance. Training significantly influenced motivation, while competence had a significant effect on performance. However, motivation did not significantly affect performance and did not mediate the relationship. Thus, performance enhancement is best achieved through direct training and competency development.
