Abstract

Young generations, particularly Generation Z and Millennials, are the primary drivers of the rapid expansion of global halal tourism. As the halal industry continues to grow, understanding the preferences and behaviors of young Muslim travelers has become crucial, especially as they represent the largest demographic segment in many Muslim-majority countries. This study synthesizes the key findings of the Youth and Halal Tourism Research book—an academic work involving multiple universities—while integrating additional insights from recent studies on halal consumption behavior among Indonesian youth. The results indicate that halal food and beverages are the most influential factors shaping youth preferences in halal tourism. Other significant factors include Sharia-compliant hotel facilities, religious-spiritual experiences, and interactions with digital technologies such as VR-based tourism. This study contributes a comprehensive overview of the dynamics of halal tourism preferences among young generations, providing valuable insights for policymakers and industry stakeholders who aim to design tourism services aligned with the values and expectations of today's digital-native youth.

Abstract

The transformation of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in the 21st century is a crucial response to rapid developments in technology, information, and educational paradigms. This study aims to examine how Islamic Religious Education learning is transformed in senior high schools to meet the demands of 21st-century education, particularly in fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and digital literacy among students. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and analysis of learning documents. The findings indicate that the transformation of IRE learning is reflected in the integration of student-centered learning models, the use of digital learning media, and the implementation of active and contextual learning strategies. However, several challenges remain, including limited technological infrastructure, varying teacher competencies, and time constraints in curriculum implementation. This study concludes that the transformation of Islamic Religious Education learning in senior high schools requires continuous teacher professional development, institutional support, and adaptive learning strategies to ensure that Islamic values are effectively integrated with 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

Purpose — This study examines how oversight leadership openness, management dominance pressure, governance transparency climate, and auditor moral courage influence auditor discretionary disclosure behavior within Sharia-governed financial institutions. Design/methodology/approach — Drawing on psychological safety theory, accountability and authority perspectives, and ethical leadership theory integrated with Islamic governance principles, this research employs a quantitative approach using survey data from governance and audit professionals in two emerging Islamic financial contexts. Findings — The findings indicate that leadership openness, transparency climate, and moral courage positively enhance discretionary disclosure, whereas management dominance pressure suppresses it. Crucially, psychological safety emerges as a central explanatory mechanism that translates governance conditions into disclosure behavior. The moderating role of Sharia governance ethical climate appears limited, suggesting that ethical norms function more as foundational governance values rather than as interactional amplifiers in this specific behavioral context. Originality/value — This study contributes to governance and auditing literature by integrating relational safety mechanisms with Sharia-based oversight principles. It offers a novel perspective by identifying psychological safety as the primary conduit through which governance structures and individual ethical capacities shape disclosure behavior, moving beyond purely structural or compliance-based views of Sharia auditing. Implications — The results offer practical implications for strengthening transparency, accountability, and ethical reporting in Islamic financial institutions. They suggest that to improve disclosure, organizations must prioritize cultivating a psychologically safe environment and reducing management dominance, rather than relying solely on formal ethical codes or structural compliance.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of science literacy among students in Indonesia, including at SMP Negeri 17 Kota Jambi. The study aims to determine the effect of the STEM-based PBL model on the science literacy of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 17 Kota Jambi. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a pre-test post-test control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class (VII C) with 32 students who received the STEM-based PBL model treatment, and the control class (VII E) with 31 students who used the direct instruction model.  The research results science literacy skills improved, with an average pre-test score of 58.5 and a post-test score of 79.75, while the control class increased from 38.32 to 60.38. The N-Gain value for science literacy in the experimental class was 50.83 (moderate category), which was higher than the control class's 38.32. The t-test results show a significance value of 0.037 < 0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the two groups. It can be concluded that the implementation of the STEM-based PBL model is effective in improving students' science literacy skills in science learning.
