Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah media audio yang berbasis lagu kreasi (Scripted Song) bisa meningkatkan kompetensi bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar di Gugus 2 Gerokgak. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dalam bentuk Post-Test Only Control Group Design. Ada eksperimen group dan kontrol group dalam penelitian ini. Mereka diberikan pengajaran yang berbeda. Dalam penelitian ini, semua siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar di Gugus 2 Gerokgak diambil sebagai populasi. Para siswa kelas lima dari SD Negeri 2 Tinga-Tinga (kelompok eksperimen) dan SD Negeri 3 Tinga-Tinga (kelompok kontrol) dipilih sebagai sampel melalui Random Sampling. Setelah diberi cara pengajaran yang berbeda, penulis menggunakan posttest untuk mendapatkan data dan menganalisanya secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Berdasarkan analisis deskriptif, nilai rata-rata dari kelompok eksperimen adalah 85.9, sedangkan kelompok kontrol 71.36. Dengan kata lain, kelompok eksperimen meraih nilai yang lebih tinggi untuk kompetensi bahasa Inggris dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil data analisis secara inferensial melalui independen sampel t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari t-observed adalah 6.500, melebihi nilai dari tcv (t-critical value) pada 1.667 (α= 5%). Jadi, hasil dari t-test mengindikasikan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Hal tersebut juga membuktikan bahwa media audio berbasis lagu kreasi (Scripted Song) bisa memberikan pengaruh (peningkatan) terhadap kompetensi bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci : media audio, kompetensi bahasa Inggris, lagu kreasi. This study aimed at finding out whether or not the audio media based on scripted songs give a significant effect to the fifth grade students’ English competence of primary schools at sub district 2 Gerokgak. This study was an experimental research in the form of Post-Test Only Control Group Design. There were experimental group and control group in this study. They were given different treatments. In this study, all fifth grade students of primary schools at sub district 2 Gerokgak were taken as the population. The fifth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Tinga-tinga (experimental group) and SD Negeri 3 Tinga-tinga (control group) were determined as the sample of the study through Random Sampling. After giving different treatments, the researcher used a posttest to obtain the data and analyzed them descriptively and inferentially. Based on descriptive analysis, the experimental group’s mean score was 85.9, while 71.36 for the control group. The experimental group achieved higher score in English competence than the control one. The results of the inferential statistical analysis through independent sample t-test show that value of t-observed was 6.500, exceeding value of tcv (t-critical value) at 1.667 (α= 5%). Thus, the result of the t-test indicates that there was a significant difference between the experimental and the control group. The study proves that the audio media based on scripted songs could give a significant effect to the students’ English competence. keyword : audio media, English competence, scripted songs.

Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan yang signifikan hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris antara siswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran audio media berbasis lagu kreasi dengan siswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran konvensional di gugus 1 Seririt. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu dengan rancangan post test only control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa yang ada di gugus 1 Seririt dengan jumlah siswa 99 orang. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan teknik simple random sampling. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian adalah 2 kelas SD N 1 Seririt sebagai kelas control dan SD N 2 Seririt sebagai kelas eksperimen yang terdiri dari 58 siswa. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode tes dengan tes hasil belajar. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris antara siswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran audio media berbasis lagu kreasi dengan siswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran konvensional (tA = 123,21 > tt = 2,000). Nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan audio media berbasis lagu kreasi (81.8) lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol yang menggunakan metode konvensional (72.2). Dapat disimpulkan audio media berbasis lagu kreasi berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas V mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di gugus 1 Seririt.Kata Kunci : audio media berbasis lagu kreasi, kompetensi bahasa Inggris, hasil belajar This research aimed to find the significant differences upon students’ English competence between students who taught by using audio media based on scripted songs with the students who taught by using conventional teaching technique in fifth grade students at sub district 1 Seririt. This research was an experimental research and post-test only control group design as the design of this research. The population was all of the students in sub district 1 Seririt that consist 99 numbers of students. To choose the sample, the simple random sampling was chosen as a technique. There were 2 classes as the samples SD N 1 Seririt as control group and SND 2 Seririt as experimental group that consist of 58 students. The data collection was collected by using post test. The data was analyzed by descriptive quantitative. The results of this research showed that there was significant science result between students who taught by using audio media based on scripted songs with the students who taught by using conventional teaching technique (tA = 123,21 > tt = 2,000). The mean of experimental group that taught by audio media based on scripted songs (81.8) was higher than control group who taught by using cooperative teaching technique (72.2). Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan dampak dari penggunaan lagu kreasi sebagai media audio terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen yang menggunakan Posttest-Only Control Group Design sebagai model penelitian. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas 5A dan kelas 5B di SD Negeri 3 Sukasada yang dipilih dengan cara simple random sampling. Melalui lotere, kelas 5A terpilih menjadi kelompok eksperimen dan kelas 5B menjadi kelompok kontrol. Untuk kelompok eksperimen diperlakukan dengan menggunakan lagu kreasi sebagai media audio. Di sisi lain, kelompok kontrol diperlakukan dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran konvensional. Di akhir perlakuan, post test yang sama diberikan kepada kedua kelompok untuk memeriksa kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Hasil dari post test menunjukkan bahwa siswa di kelompok eksperimen mendapatkan pencapaian yang lebih baik daripada siswa di kelompok kontrol. Hal itu dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 84.86 sedangkan nilai rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 74.73. Selain itu, hasil dari analisis t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai t-observed (tobv) adalah 4.636 pada degree of freedom 42. Nilai tersebut lebih besar daripada nilai t-critical (tcv) yaitu 2.0181 pada level signifikansi 0.05. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa null hipotesis (Ho) pada penilitian ini ditolak sedangkan alternative hypothesis (Ha) diterima. Sebagai kesimpulan, penggunaan lagu kreasi sebagai media audio memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Kata Kunci : lagu kreasi, kompetensi Bahasa Inggris, anak-anak This study aimed to find the impact of using scripted songs as an audio media toward English competence of fifth grade students. This study is an experimental study which use Posttest-Only Control Group Design as the research design. The samples of this study were 5A class and 5B class of SD Negeri 3 Sukasada chosen through simple random sampling. Through lottery, 5A class chosen become the experimental group and 5B class became the control group. For the experimental group was treated by using Scripted Songs as an audio media. In other hand, the control group was treated by using Conventional Teaching media. By the end of the treatments, the same posttest was administered to check the students’ English competence. The result of the posttest shows that the students in experimental group got better achievement rather than the students in control group. It was proven by the mean score of experimental group was 84.86 while the mean score of control group was 74.73. Moreover, the result of t-test analysis shows that the t-observed (tobv) was 4.636 at degree of freedom 42. It was higher than the t-critical (tcv) value that was 2.0181 at level significance 0.05. It indicated that the null hypothesis (Ho) in this study was rejected while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. As the conclusion, the use of Scripted Songs as audio media gave significant impact toward the students’ English competence. keyword : Scripted Songs, English competence, young learners

Abstract

This experimental study aimed at finding out the significant effect of Scripted Song-based Audio Media towards English competency of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Tejakula in academic year 2014/2015. The design of this study was post-test only control group design. Random sampling technique was employed in order to define which class selected as control group or experimental group, resulted in class 5 of SDN 2 Tejakula randomly selected as the control group which was taught by using conventional teaching media and class SDN 1 Tejakula randomly selected as the experimental group which was taught by using Scripted Song-based Audio Media. Both groups consisted of 20 students each. The results of data analysis showed that the students who were taught by implementing Scripted Song-based Audio Media performed better than those who were taught by implementing conventional teaching media. The descriptive statistic analysis result of mean score of listening post-test in experimental group was 79, while in control group was 68. The mean score of speaking post-test in experimental group was 81 and in the control group was 70. In reading, the mean score in experimental group was 78.2 while in the control group was 68.7. The mean score of writing post-test 90.4 for experimental group and 76.1 for control group. The mean score of English competency in experimental group was 80.9 while the control group was 71.1. The results of t-test analysis of the tobs was 6.256. It was higher than the value of the tcv at 2.024394164(α = 0.05). Moreover, the result of observation indicated that the implementation of Scripted Song-based Audio Media motivated the students in comprehending English competence. In conclusion, Scripted Song-based audio media contributed in giving a significant effect to students’ English competency. keyword : English competency, Scripted songs

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang bertujan untuk menemukan efek signifikan dari pengimplementasian audio media berbasis lagu kreasi pada kemampuan kompetensi anak kelas 5 SD. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Tahun ajaran 2014/2015 di Gugus 1 Kecamatan Busungbiu, Kabupaten Buleleng. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode posttest only control group, dimana dihasil akhir akan membandingkan antara nilai sumatif siswa dengan nilai posttest siswa. Hasil analisis secara deskriptif dan inferential menunjukan bahwa nilai rata-rata dari kelas eksperiment menunjukan efek yang signifikan jika disbandingkan dengan kelas control dan dukung dengan hasil t-test yang sesuai. Hasil tersebut membuktikan bahwa pengimplementasian audio media berbasis lagu kreasi memberikan signifikan efek terhadap kompetensi siswa kelas 5 SD.Kata Kunci : audio media, kompetensi, lagu kreasi This experimental study aims at finding the significant effect of Audio Media based on Scripted Songs upon the fifth grade students’ competency in primary school at Sub-District 1 Busungbiu, Buleleng in academic year 2014/2015. The design of this study was post-test only control group design. The implementation of cluster random sampling technique administrated that SD N 1 Busungbiu as experimental group which was taught by using Audio Media based on Scripted Songs and SD N 3 Busungbiu as the control group which was taught by using conventional teaching technique .Both groups consisted of 22 students each. The results of data analysis show that the students who were taught by Audio Media based on Scripted Songs performed better than those who were taught by implementing conventional teaching technique. The mean score of experimental group was 82.9 and the control group was 70.28. It was proved by the results of t-test analysis shows that the tobs was 7.793. It was higher than the value of the tcv at 2.009 (α = 0.05). In conclusion, Audio Media based on Scripted Songs gave significant effect toward students’ English competencykeyword : audio media, competency, scripted songs

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa relevansi dari materi pembelajaran dengan silabus dan tipe dari penggunaan strategi mengajar untuk mata kuliah Reading 1 di Jurusan Pendidikan bahasa Inggris. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah para dosen pada mata kuliah Reading 1 di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan daftar cek. Data dikumpulkan dari hasil daftar cek para dosen dan penguji ahli. Data didapatkan dengan analisa deskriptif. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan relevansi dari materi pembelajaran dan kriteria dari materi pembelajaran yang baik pada level "Sedikit relevan" untuk digunakan sebagai sumber belajar siswa Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dari dua penguji ahli yang menyatakan 30% dari kriteria yang telah tercapai. Strategi pengajaran yang sering digunakan pada mata kuliah Reading 1 adalah small group work, problem solving, cooperative group, performance activities, writing and inquiry based learning. Kata Kunci : kemampuan membaca, materi pembelajaran, strategi pembelajaran This research was conducted to analyze the relevance of instructional materials to the syllabus and the types of teaching strategies used for Reading 1 course in English Education Department. The subjects of the study were the lecturers in Reading 1 course of English Education Department, Ganesha University of Education. This research was a descriptive qualitative research by utilizing checklist. The data were collected from the lecturers and expert judges’ checklist. The data obtained were descriptively analyzed. The finding of the research showed the relevance of Instructional Materials and the criteria of a good material in the level of “Slightly Relevant” to be used as learning resource for English Education Department students. Based on the result of analysis from two expert judges stated 30% of criteria which had been reached. The teaching strategies that used frequently in Reading 1 course were small group work, problem solving, cooperative group, performance activities, writing and inquiry based learning.keyword : instructional material, reading skill, teaching strategies

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna, fungsi dan strategi yang digunakan dalam penerjemahan peribahasa dalam film yang berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron. Analisia peribahasa ini dilakukan karena kata – kata yang terikat dengan budaya bahasa atau dikenal dengan istilah peribahasa sangat menarik untuk dipelajari dan terkadang makna yang mereka tidak selalu sesuai dengan yang diungkapkannya. Peneliti menggunakan film sebagai sumber pengambilan data karena film memberikan gambaran tentang penutur bahasa asing dalam percakapanya sehari – hari dan film yang berjudul The Avengers : Age of ultron digunakan karena film ini merupakan film baru dan merupakan film yang paling tunggu – tunggu di tahun 2015. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui makna dari peribahasa dalam film berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron, (2) untuk mengetahui fungsi peribahasa dalam film berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron dan (3) untuk mengetahui strategi penerjemahan peribahasa dalam film yang berjudul The Avengers : Age of Ultron. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data tersebut dikumpulkan dengan menonton, mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikaasi makna, fungsi dan strategi dalam penerjemahan peribahasa. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah ScramCypher yang menyediakan transkripsi bahasa Inggris dan Indonesia untuk film tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 83 peribahasa yang ditemukan dalam film tersebut. Makna dari peribahasa tersebut dianalisis menggunakan konsep kontekstual oleh Halliday (2010) dan dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar peribahasa tersebut menggunakan konteks situasi dalam penggunaannya dalam film tersebut. Fungsi peribahasa tersebut dianalisis menggunakan teori McCharty dan O’dell dan sebagian besar peribahasa tersebut memiliki fungsi untuk mengkomentari orang. Dalam analisa strategi penerjemahan, hanya 60 dari 83 peribahasa yang terjemahkan dengan benar dan strategi yang paling sering digunakan dalam penerjemahan tersebut adalah 1) translation by paraphrase, 2) using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form, 3) using an idiom of similar meaning and form and 4) translation by omissionKata Kunci : Fungsi, Peribahasa, Makna, Strategi This study aims at finding out the meanings, functions and strategies used in the translation of idioms in movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron. The analysis of the idioms was done because words which are culturally bound with language or known as idioms are very interesting to be learned and sometimes their meanings are not exactly as what they say. The researcher used a movie as a source of data collection because it gave a reflection of native speakers in their daily conversation and the movie entitled “The Avengers : Age of Ultron” is used because this is a brand new movie in 2015 and it is the highest grossing movie of 2015. The purposes of this research were: (1) to find the meanings of idioms in the movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron, (2) to find out the functions of idioms in the movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron, and (3) to find out the strategies used in the translation of idioms in the movie entitled The Avengers : Age of Ultron. This research was designed as a descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through watching, identifying, and classifying the meanings, the functions and the strategies used in the translation of idioms. The subject in this study is ScramCypher who provided both English and Indonesian subtitles in the movie. The result of this study showed that there are 83 idioms found in the movie. The meanings of idioms were analyzed using contextual concepts of meaning by Halliday (2010) and it can be concluded that most of the idioms consider context of situation on its usage in the movie. The functions of idioms were analyzed using McCharty and O’dell theory and most idioms found in the movie functioned to comment on people. In analyzing the translation strategies, there were only 60 idioms out of 83 which were translated equivalently and the most frequent translation strategies used are 1) translation by paraphrase, 2) using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form, 3) using an idiom of similar meaning and form and 4) translation by omissionkeyword : Function, Idioms, Meaning, Strategies.

Abstract

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meneliti apakah ada efek yang signifikan dari pengguanaan snake and ladder board game terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris pebelajar anak-anak, terutama siswa-siswi sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini adalah sebuah penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan post-test only control group design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas empat di sekolah dasar Sukasada, kabupaten Buleleng tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling untuk memilih sampel. Ada dua kelas yang terpilih sebagai sampel, SD Negeri 2 Sukasada sebagai kelompok kontrol dan SD Negeri 3 Sukasada sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil-hasil memperlihatkan bahwa rata-rata dari kelompok kontrol yang diajar mengguanakan teknik konvensional adalah 79.6 dan rata-rata dari kelompok eksperimen yang diajar menggunakan snake and ladder board game adalah 84.1. Hasil dari penghitungan sampel independen t-test menunjukan nilai dari tobs (t observation) adalah 4.791 dimana tcv (t critical value) dalam signifikansi alfa 0.05 (5%) dan tingkat kebebasan 62 adalah 1.998. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa snake and ladder board game memberikan efek yang signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas empat sekolah dasar di Sukasada, Kabupaten Buleleng tahun ajar 2015/2016.Kata Kunci : Prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris, snake and ladder board game, pebelajar anak-anak The main purpose of this research is to investigate whether there is any significant effect of snake and ladder board game on young learners’ English learning achievement, especially the fourth grade students of elementary school. This research was an experimental research using post-test only control group design. The population of this study was 103 fourth grade students of elementary school in Sukasada, Buleleng regency in academic year 2015/2016. This research used cluster random sampling technique to choose the samples. There were two classes as the samples, SD Negeri 2 Sukasada as the control group and SD Negeri 3 Sukasada as the experimental group. The data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistic analysis. The results showed that the mean score of control group that was taught by conventional technique was 79.6 and the mean score of experimental group that was taught by snake and ladder board game was 84.1. The result of the independent sample t-test calculation showed the value of tobs (t observed) was 4.791 where the tcv (t critical value) in alpha significance 0.05 (5%) and the degree of freedom 62 was 1.998. It could be inferred that the tobs (t observed) was higher than the tcv (t critical value). It can be concluded that snake and ladder board game gives the significant effect on students’ English learning achievement of the fourth grade students of elementary school in Sukasada, Buleleng regency in 2015/2016 academic year.keyword : English learning achievement, snake and ladder board game, young learners

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menginvestigasi signifikansi efek penggunaan permainan papan monopoli teradaptasi pada hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas 6 sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Banjar pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen menggunakan desain post-test only control group. Populasi dari penelitian ini terdiri dari 179 siswa kelas 6 di Kecamatan Banjar. Teknik cluster random sampling digunakan dalam penelitian ini dalam pengambilan sampel. Kelompok siswa kelas 6 SD N 1 Banjar terpilih sebagai kelompok kontrol, sedangkan kelompok siswa kelas 6 SD N 9 Banjar terpilih sebagai kelompok eksperimental dengan jumlah sampel total sebanyak 62 siswa. Data yang terkumpul dianalisa menggunakan analisa statistikal deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata kelompok eksperimental (89,01) lebih besar daripada skor rata-rata kelompok kontrol (82,78). Hasil uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan independent t-test menunjukkan bahwa tobserved (2,725) lebih besar daripada tcritical value (2,000) pada tingkat signifikansi 0.05 (α=0.05). Ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara skor kelompok eksperimental dan kelompok kontrol. Maka, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan permainan papan monopoli teradaptasi memberikan efek yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas 6 di Kecamatan Banjar.Kata Kunci : permainan papan monopoli teradaptasi, hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris, sekolah dasar The goal of this research was to investigate the significance of the effect of adapted monopoly board game on the English learning achievement of the sixth grade students of primary school in Banjar Sub-District in 2015/2016 academic year. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada efek yang signifikan pada penggunaan monopoly board game sebagai media pembelajaran terhadap prestasi belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima. Penelitian experimen ini mengimplementasikan desain penelitian post-test only control group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas lima SD di Banjar, Kabupaten Buleleng. Sample penelitian ini adalah 26 siswa kelas lima di SDN 1 Banjar dan 26 siswa kelas lima di SDN 9 Banjar yang ditentukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok siswa di kelas eksperimen mampu menunjukkan prestasi belajar yang lebih baik daripada kelompok siswa kelas control. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dari hasil t-test dimana nilai tobs adalah 5,819, sedangkan nilai tcv adalah 2,008 (tobs > tcv). Hal ini berarti bahwa penggunaan monopoly board game mampu memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan pada prestasi belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima SD. Kata Kunci : prestasi, game, monopoly, pebelajar anak-anak This research was purposed to investigate whether or not there was a significant effect on the use of adapted monopoly board game as a learning media towards the fifth grade students’ English learning achievement. This experimental research implemented post-test only control group design. The population of this research was all the fifth grade students of primary school in Banjar, Buleleng Regency. The samples of this study were 26 students of fifth graders in SDN 1 Banjar and 26 students of fifth graders in SDN 9 Banjar, administered using cluster random sampling technique. The result showed that the group of students in experimental group could perform better achievement rather than the group of students in the control group. It could be proven from result of the t-test in which the tobs was 5.819, meanwhile the tcv was 2.008 (tobs > tcv). It means that the use of monopoly board game gives significant effect to the fifth grade primary school students’ English learning achievement.keyword : board game, English learning achievement, monopoly, young learners
