The purpose of this study is to identify the magnitude of the role of the agricultural sector in regional development, identify leading sectors in Karangasem Regency and the development of the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Karangasem Regency. This study use secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of Karangasem Regency and Bali Province. Descriptive statistical analysis technique is used to describe the role of the agricultural sector in regional development. The analysis shows 1) the agricultural sector has a very big role in the formation of the Karangasem Regency GRDP, which was 24.61% in 2019 and was the sector that contributed the most. 2) the agriculture sector is a potential sector in Karangasem Regency. 3) the competitiveness of the agricultural sector falls into the slow category and its production could only meet the needs of the community. This research is expected to help the government in determining policies and increasing efforts in optimizing the agricultural sector because the agricultural sector has a very big role in society’s income and employment. In addition, the agricultural sector as the leading sector in Karangasem Regency shows slow competitiveness, so the government is expected to be able to improve facilities and develop programs to optimize the agricultural sector.

This research uses descriptive analysis method, location quotient (LQ), dynamic location quotient (DLQ) approach, combined analysis of LQ and DLQ and differential shift from shift share analysis approach. The analysis suggests that the contribution of the agricultural sector to the regency’s economy quantitatively decreased from the beginning to the end of the study period. In contrast, the economic contribution of the tourism sector in the regency have increased. This study suggests that Gianyar has six sectors that have the potential to become leading sectors in the future, two sectors that are presently leading and possibly will still lead in the future, eight prospective sectors, four mainstay sectors and three lagging sectors. On this study period that is between 2014-2018, the agricultural sector shows weak competitiveness, while the tourism sector shows strong competitiveness.

This study aims to measure the performance of UD Limas Mertha Mandiri (UD. LMM) through the Balanced Scorecard approach. UD. LMM is a company engaged in the field of staple food (agricultural products). The research method used was the sample census method with a total of 38 respondents, including 18 employees and 20 regular customers. In conducting assessments, appropriate performance measurements are needed, not only for the financial sector but also for the non-financial sector. Position is calculated using the Balanced Scorecard method. The results show that: (1) The view of finance is considered quite good because it is measured using five ratios, namely liquidity ratios, profitability, solvency ratios, leverage ratios and activity ratios. (2) The customer's point of view is a good standard because it meets customer expectations. (3) The internal business process perspective is considered good because the time to process the order transaction is valid. (4) The learning and growth perspective is in a good standard because employee productivity increases and net income increases. The advice that can be given to the next researcher is to improve the company's performance using SWOT, which makes the company's performance more measurable.

Abstract

Dry land is land whose use for the development of agricultural commodities is limited, due to constraints on the availability of nutrients and water. The research objectives are: to identify the suitability of dry land for upland rice, corn and peanuts; identify limiting factors and improvement efforts to increase land productivity. The method used is a survey to determine the characteristics of the land in the field and to take soil samples that are analyzed in the laboratory. Determination of sample points based on the results of overlapping maps of soil types, land use maps, slope maps using QGIS 3.4, so that a homogeneous land unit map (SLH) is obtained, and 6 SLH is obtained as observation points. The results of field and laboratory data analysis were matched with the growing requirements for upland rice, corn and peanuts. The actual land suitability for upland rice, corn, and peanuts is classified as S2 (fairly suitable) to N (not suitable). The limiting factors are slope, erosion hazard, temperature, texture, rainfall, pH, N-total, P2O5, Cation Exchange Capacity, Base Saturation, availability of oxygen, and C-organic. Improvement efforts that must be done are making terraces, fertilizing urea, fertilizers containing phosphate, mulching using plant residues, giving organic matter, and improving drainage. After improving the limiting factors that can be improved, the potential land suitability classes for upland rice, corn and peanuts are S1 (very suitable), S2 (fairly suitable) and S3 (marginally appropriate).

Abstract

Financial Performance Of Vegetable Distribution Business (Case Study: Wijaya Vegetables In Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, Bali Province). One of the current problems in the agricultural sector is unjust trade caused by long supply chains. Wijaya Vegetables has succeeded in innovating to shorten the market chain so that its business model and financial analysis are important to be understood. Wijaya Vegetables is a sociopreneurship that distributes fresh vegetables directly from farmers in Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, Bali Province. Financially, Wijaya Vegetables has a relatively increased profit. Asset composition which is dominated by current assets shows good business activity. The R/C ratio value of 1.28 indicates that the business is financially viable, and the average monthly profit margin of 40% indicates that the business has healthy growth. The allocation of profits used for social aspects should be reconsidered considering the amount is quite large. Utilization of debt should also be maximized. Further research that discusses the social aspects and business model of Wijaya Vegetables is important to do.
