Abstract

The purpose of this study were to determine the effect of temperature and roasting duration on physical characteristics and quality of arabica coffee sensory,: find out the best temperature and roasting duration treatmen to physical characteristics and quality of arabica coffee sensory. This study used a factorial complete randomized design with two factors (200°C, 220°C and 240°C) and duration of roasting (12, 15, and 18 minutes). The variables observed in this study were rendemen (sucrose content of sugar cane crop or sample), water content, color value, acidity and sensory test of arabica coffee. The results showed that temperature and duration of roasting had effect on rendemen, water content, color value, acidity, flavor, taste and color of arabica coffee. The temperature of 220 ° C with 12 minutes of roasting is produceed the best physical characteristics and sensory quality of Singgalang arabica coffee, with 88.1% of rendemen, 1.23% of water content (bb), different color L (Lightness) 6,07, acidity 5.81, scent score 3.5), taste score value of 3.2, color score 3.6.

Abstract

One of the types of coffee cultivated in Solok Regency is Arabica Coffee (Coffea Arabica L). The quality of the coffee produced can be influenced by the proper harvesting and post-harvest process so as to produce ground coffee with good quality. This research is done by the method of observation, descriptive, and hedonic test. Ground coffee produced in Solok Regency has a semi-mechanical harvesting process while the post-harvest process begins with the release of the skin and meat of the fruit, subsequent drying, and release of the skin of horns, sorting and grading, roasted, milling and packaging. This research aims to study the processing and quality of Arabica Ground Coffee in Solok Regency.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important food crop that is the staple food of more than half of the world's population because it contains nutrients that the body needs. Information on the genetic diversity of local rice scattered in the Kuantan Singingi Regency is still not available. Due to this fact, the genetic diversity of local rice can be identified by DNA analysis. A DNA-based molecular marker that can be applied as a plant genetic marker is SRAP. The SRAP (Sequence Related Amplified Polymorphism) marker system is one of the powerful molecular tools for the clarification of individual sex and estimating the genetic diversity of plant species. This study aims to determine the genetic relationship of rice plants in the Kuantan Singingi Regency through SRAP markers. Twenty-four (24) local genotype samples were used in this study. Observational data were processed using Ms. software. Excel and (NTSYS-pc) version 2.02. The results obtained 17 fragments in Primer M, which resulted in a similarity analysis between 71% to 100%. There are two (2) groups at 75% similarity, then there are five (5) groups at 81% similarity and there are four (4) groups that have 100% similarity. The results of this study are expected to be taken into consideration in developing rice breeding strategies in the future.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa. L) is the main food crop in Kuantan Singingi District, but stressful conditions such as drought often cause severe yield losses. The problem of drought never gets a solution, so that many farmers cultivate paddy rice but the planting technique is tugal. This review article aims to resolve this issue. Resolving issues in rainfed lowland rice cultivation, in drought conditions, then it can be done by integrating several relevant disciplines. But on the occasion of this review the authors focus on explaining one solution that can be done in developing or improving the local rice genotype characteristics of Kuantan Singingi Regency. The effort to obtain types of strains, cultivars, varieties (from a cross between local genotypes with superior varieties with certificates) that are able to adapt to drought conditions. In this writer the strain is obtained through a series of activities ranging from exploration, collection, identification characteristics (morphological characteristics and molecular / DNA characteristics), description of local genotypes, then hybridization or biotechnology (Transgene), and finally the selection process. Exploratory research and characteristics can use survey methods by purposive random sampling (purposive random sampling). Data is collected by identifying the characteristics of local rice plants directly to the field. The observations made were (1) geographical coordinates location, (2) morphological observations based on the rice descriptors manual according to the Ministry of Agriculture (2013) and IRRI (2007). The observed characters are qualitative and quantitative characters towards the character of grain and rice. Observation data were processed using Ms. software. Excel and (NTSYS-pc) version 2.02. The observations showed a diversity of morphological characters both quantitative and qualitative of grain and rice. Keywords : Local rice, Development, Kuantan Singingi Regency

Abstract

Jagung (Zea mays L.) merupakan tanaman serealia penting sebagai sumber karbohidrat bagi jutaan penduduk di dunia. Kutudaun (Hemiptera: Aphididae) merupakan salah satu hama penting pada tanaman jagung. Namun informasi tentang jenis kutudaun yang menyerang tanaman jagung hibrida di Solok, Sumatera Barat masih sangat terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui jenis spesies hama kutudaun yang menyerang tanaman jagung di Nagari Bukit Payo, Kecamatan Tanah Garam, Kabupaten Solok. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan Januari hingga Juni 2019. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei. Tanaman jagung yang dijadikan sampel dipilih secara acak (sampling). Pengambilan kutudaun tersebut dilakukan sebanyak 2x dengan waktu pengambilan selama musim tanam jagung hibrida. Kutudaun diperoleh dengan cara mengumpulkan koloni kutudaun yang terdapat pada bagian daun, batang dan tongkol dari tanaman jagung. Kemudian kutudaun langsung dimasukkan ke dalam tabung eppendorf yang telah berisi alkohol 96% menggunakan kuas, lalu diberi label lokasi dan tanggal pengambilan sampel. Selanjutnya kutudaun sampel dibawa ke Laboratorium Bioekologi Serangga, Departemen Proteksi Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Andalas untuk mengetahui jenis dan jumlah individu kutudaun. Kutudaun diidentifikasi berdasarkan karakter morfologinya dengan menggunakan buku panduan Aphids on the World’s Trees, Aphids on the World Crops, Aphids on the World’s Herbaceous Plants and Shrubs. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman jagung hibrida di Kecataman Tanah Garam, Kabupaten Solok terserang hama kutudaun (Hemiptera: Aphididae), namun populasi kutudaun tergolong rendah yaitu 262 kutudaun. Kutudaun yang ditemukan pada tanaman jagung di Nagari Bukit Payo, Kec. Tanah Garam, Kab. Solok adalah sebanyak 2 spesies yaitu Rhopalosiphum maidis Fitch dan Myzus persicae. Rendahnya populasi kutudaun yang menyerang tanaman jagung hibrida tersebut disebabkan karena beberapa faktor, seperti varietas jagung, pola tanam, dan praktek budidaya yang dilakukan oleh petani setempat.Kata kunci: Populasi, Aphididae, Jagung, Identifikasi, Kutudaun

Abstract

Sorgum adalah salah satu bahan pangan sumber karbohidrat lokal selain beras. Sorgum memiliki kandungan nutrisi yang tidak kalah dengan beras dan berpotensi sebagai bahan pangan alternatif untuk mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap bahan pangan impor yakni gandum. Kajian teknkik budidaya dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas biji sorgum masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pemberian pupuk kandang ayam terhadap pertumbuhan dan kualitas biji tanaman sorgum yang ditanam di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Andalas pada bulan November 2020 hingga Maret 2021. Analisis protein dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian pada bulan Mei 2021. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan perlakuan dosis pupuk kandang ayam (0 kg/tan, 0.25 kg/tan, 0.5 kg/tan dan 0.75 kg/tan) diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman sorgum. Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada kadar protein dan produksi protein pada biji tanaman sorgum. Dosis pupuk kandang ayam 0.75 kg/tan menghasilkan kadar protein biji lebih tinggi sebesar 13.48 % dan produksi protein 39.57 g/100 biji namun tidak berbeda dengan perlakuan dosis pupuk kandang ayam 0.5 kg/tanaman.

Abstract

Tanaman kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) adalah salah satu jenis komoditas perkebunan yang menduduki posisi penting di sektor pertanian Indonesia. Terbukti hasil olahannya yang memiliki nilai ekonomi yang tinggi. Produksi kelapa sawit ditentukan oleh media yang digunakan salah satunya pemupukan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kompos sampah pasar terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis jacq.) pada fase Main-Nursery. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kebun percobaan kampus III universitas andalas, pada bulan februari sampai agustus 2018. Metode percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan dan setiap unit percobaan terdiri dari 2 Polybag sehingga didapatkan 50 Polybag bibit kelapa sawit. Perlakuan terdiri atas P0 (Kontrol atau tanpa perlakuan), P1 (pemberian kompos sampah pasar 600 g/polybag), P2 (pemberian kompos sampah pasar 800 g/polybag), P3 (pemberian kompos sampah pasar 1000 g/polybag), P4 (pemberian kompos sampah pasar 1200 g/polybag). Variabel yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter bonggol, panjang helaian daun. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kompos sampah pasar berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman. Sedangkan pada jumlah daun, diameter bonggol dan panjang helaian daun tidak berbeda nyata. Dosis terbaik pada pemberian kompos sampah pasar adalah 1200 g/polybag dimana pada dosis 1200 g/polybag ini memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan dosis 600 g/polybag, 800 g/polybag, 1000 g/polybag dan 1200 g/polybag.

Abstract

Ketergantungan Indonesia terhadap produk impor terutama tepung terigu semakin tinggi dari tahun ke tahun. Hal ini menjadi pertimbangan untuk mencari jalan keluar dari permasalahan ini karena Indonesia sendiri mempunyai potensi berupa umbi, serealia dan beberapa kacang-kacangan yang merupakan sumber karbohidrat berupa pati dan diharapkan dapat mengurangi penggunaan terigu. Pati pada masing-masing tanaman berbeda jumlahnya dan dipengaruhi oleh komposisi yang ada pada pati tersebut. Komposisi yang ada pati juga mempengaruhi ekstraksi yang dilakukan. Pati dari umbi-umbian lebih mudah untuk diekstrak walaupun hanya menggunakan air. Hal ini terjadi karena rendahnya kandungan protein dan lipid yang terdapat pada umbi sedangkan pada serealia dan beberapa kacang-kacangan hal ini lebih sulit dilakukan karena kandungan protein dan lipid lebih tinggi. Ekstraksi yang disarankan pada ekstraksi serealia dan beberapa kacang-kacangan adalah menggunakan alkali karena dapat menghilangkan pati pada permukaan sehingga menghasilkan pati yang lebih murni. Satu hal yang harus menjadi pertimbangan dalam melakukan ekstraksi pilihlah metode yang ramah lingkungan agar tidak menimbulkan kerusakan.Metode yang dapat dilakuan untuk menghasilkan pati ada 3 jenis yaitu metode ekstraksi dengan air, ekstraksi dengan alkali dan ekstraksi dengan enzim.

Abstract

Palm oil production in Indonesia must be optimized to meet world market demands. The steeper the slope of the land, the more erosion and weed growth will occur. This can result in disrupted oil palm growth due to erratic competition, air, and light between oil palm and weeds around the plant. This study aims to determine the relationship between the slope of the land with the production level of Fresh Fruit Bunches of oil palm in the PT. Bina Pratama Sakato Jaya Unit Kiliran Jao Sijunjung Regency. The research is in the form of a survey with a purposive random sampling method. Observation parameters consisted of the weight of fresh fruit bunches, the diameter of stem circumference, and plant height. Data processing using a simple linear regression method. The plantation area of ​​PT. Bina Pratama Sakato Jaya is currently 4,678.79 Ha. Slope significantly affects the production of oil palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB). The highest average production was obtained on flat (0-3%) and gentle slopes (3-8%), and the lowest average production on slopes (15-30%) and very steep (30-45%)

Abstract

Regency of Deli Serdang in the Province of Sumatera Utara has high diversity of landrace rice that has adapted to various climatic and edaphic condition including drought. Studies on various local rice genotypes tolerant to drought is of important to be carried out. This will help plant breeders with germplasms for future breeding program. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a water-soluble compound with high osmotic pressure and unlikely to have specific interaction with biological chemicals. With these properties, PEG is often be used in studies of plant response to drought stress. The experiment reported here was aimed at determining rice genotypes, local to Regency of Deli Serdang, tolerant to drought. The experiment was carried out at Laboratory of Physiology and Glass House of Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara, Medan from February to April 2020. A two-way factorial experiment was assigned in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replicates. The first factor was 23 local rice genotypes plus 4 genotypes tolerant to drought and the second factor was the concentration of PEG 6000 i. e 0 and 20% (w/v). Observations included percent of germination, plant height, length and number of roots protruding from paraffin-wax layer, leaf chlorophyll content, seedling fresh and dry weight, index of tolerance, probability of resistance, and proline content. Data were analyzed with analysis of variance and mean separation of DNMRT at 5%. Results demonstrated that 6 local rice genotypes, Gemuruh, Ramos Merah, Arias, Sialus, Silayur, and Sirabut were resistant to drought stress under the experimental condition.
