Abstract

Xylose and arabinose are pentosesugars that present in hemicellulose, part of lignocellulose biomass.These pentose sugars can be fermented by yeast into ethanol.The aim of this research was to utilize yeast isolated from durian fruit (DuriozibethinusL.) in fermentation of xylose and arabinose to produce bioethanol.Phenotypic test of isolates was conducted by growingthe isolates in various agar media, i.e.YPD (Yeast Peptone Dextrose), YPA (Yeast Peptone Arabinose), and YPX (Yeast Peptone Xylose) containing dextrose, arabinose, xylose, respectively, assole carbon source to see cell growth.  The yeast isolates were further identified using API AOC 20C kit method. Yeast isolates were applied for fermentation of glucose, arabinose, and xylosein incubated cultures.  Ethanol production in the fermentation was analyzed bygaschromatography. Yeast isolates were identified as Kodamaea ohmeri, Candida famata, Candida guilliermondii, and Crytococcuc laurentii. Based on gas chromatography data, it was found that ethanol produced in the fermentation for three days, the highest ethanol content on xylose substrate was fermented by Candida famata-Awhich is0.021% (v/v) ethanol resulted from initial concentration of 5% xylose (w/v).  While on arabinose substrate, the highest ethanol content was fermented by Crytococcus laurentii-Bwhich is 0.0034% (v/v) ethanol resulted from initial concentration of 5% arabinose (w/v).

Abstract

The composites of hydroxyapatite and SiO2 were successfully synthesized. The hydroxyapatite was prepared from golden snail shells (Pomacea canaliculata L). The hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite-SiO2 composites were characterized using XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDS. Furthermore, hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite-SiO2 composites were used to remove Pb(II) from aqueous solution. Various adsorption parameters such as pH of the solution, contact time, and initial Pb(II) concentration were used to study the adsorption process. The optimum pH of the solution for removal of Pb(II) by hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite-SiO2 composite at pH 6 and contact time at 60 minutes. Both adsorbents follow the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity of the hydroxyapatite-SiO2 composite is greater compare to hydroxyapatite, respectively 135.14 and 123.46 mg/g. The pseudo-second order kinetic model had a correlation coefficient (R2) greater than the pseudo-first order so pseudo-second order kinetic is better to describe adsorption kinetics

Abstract

The alumina-activated carbon has the ability to adsorb and desorb the procion red MX-5B. The research evaluated the influence of desorption agent, contact time, and temperature on desorption process of procion red MX-5B dye with alumina-activated carbon composite and the adsorption capacity of the composite after desorption process. The desorption agents used in desorption process were solution with pH 2−10, H2O2 30 % (v/v), methanol 70% (v/v) and ethanol 70% (v/v). The variation of contact time was in the range from 30 to 270 min and the temperature was set between 30−75 °C. The result concluded that the highest desorption efficiency up to 98.56% was achieved using ethanol 70% (v/v) for 240 min at 45 °C. The desorption kinetic followed the pseudo-first-order with the release constant (kdes) of 6.56 × 10-2 min-1. The SEM micrograph showed there is a more porous surface on the composite after the desorption compared to before the desorption. The EDX analysis indicated that alumina content in the composite was reduced after desorption process. FTIR spectra of the composite before and after desorption process showed a peak of Al−O at 592 and 590 cm-1 which was proved that alumina still exists in the composite after the desorption process. The alumina-activated carbon composite was re-used to adsorb procion red MX-5B dye. After three times of desorption and re-adsorption process, the capacity adsorption was decreased from 12.38 to 7.38 mg/g.

Abstract

Desinfektan dan hand sanitizer merupakan bahan kimia yang sering digunakan untuk pencegahan penularan virus covid-19. Mahalnya harga desinfektan dan hand sanitizer, serta banyaknya informasi secara online tentang pembuatan kedua bahan tersebut maka banyak masyarakat yang membuat desinfektan dan hand sanitizer sendiri. Pembuatan desinfektan dan hand sanitizer tanpa memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup justru memiliki resiko terhadap kesehatan dan lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan pembuatan desinfektan dan hand sanitizer yang tepat yaitu sesuai standar WHO, dengan penambahan aroma alami ekstrak daun serai. Ekstrak daun serai bersifat antibakteri, antiseptik dan memiliki aroma yang segar. Kegiatan juga memberikan pelatihan cara penggunaaan desinfektan dan hand sanitizer yang tepat. Khalayak sasaran dalam kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat dusun IV desa Tanjung Seteko, kecamatan Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan meningkatnya pemahaman dan ketrampilan masyarakat dalam pembuatan desinfektan dan hand sanitizer yang dibuat dengan penambahan ekstrak daun serai

Abstract

Eggshell is a solid waste that is available in abundance but is being left unused. Eggshell containing calcium in a high amount. Calcium can be used as a precursor for hydroxyapatite (HAp). Modification of HAp with SiO2 is expected to improve its low mechanical properties for biomedical applications. In this study, HAp is synthesized from the eggshell. Then, it was modified by adding SiO2 utilizing the coprecipitation method with concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, respectively. The HAp and HAp/SiO2 were characterized using; X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The analysis HAp and HAp/SiO2 were density, compressive strength, and hardness. The best mechanical properties of HAp/SiO2 were characterized using SEM-EDS. The HAp were prepared successfully with a ratio of Ca/P was 1.673, close to the theoretical 1.67. The addition of SiO2 caused a decrease in crystallite size and density but increased compressive strength and hardness. The best mechanical properties of HAp/SiO2 were obtained with SiO2 of 30% and 40% with similar values.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness and increase in absorption of the chitosan-ZnO composite in the process of removing methylene blue when using the photodegradation method with the help of a UV lamp. Chitosan was synthesized from shrimp shell waste composite with metal oxide ZnO. The results of the characterization using XRD obtained the diffraction peak for chitosan at an angle of 2θ, namely 19.85°; 29.43°; 34.76° and chitosan-ZnO composite at an angle of 20.18°; 28.93°; 33.57° The SEM-EDX characterization shows that chitosan-ZnO has small, light-colored grains and more gaps and contains elements of chitosan and Zn. In the FTIR characterization, there was a decrease in intensity at a peak of around 3360 cm-1 which was caused by the chitosan-ZnO composite producing OH groups which reacted with methylene blue dye. In testing the effect of contact time using a UV lamp, there was an increase in the percentage of degraded methylene blue compared to without using a UV lamp. The maximum contact time is obtained at 60 minutes. While testing the effect of methylene blue dye concentration, the maximum absorption concentration was 45 ppm at 60 minutes of contact time. The adsorption capacity of the composite against methylene blue dye without UV light was 18.91 mg/g while using a UV lamp it increased to 20.145 mg/g. Based on this research, the chitosan/ZnO composite can be used quite well as a methylene blue dye remover.Keywords: Chitosan, Chitosan-ZnO, Photodegradation, Adsorption, Methylene blue.

Abstract

Berkembangnya industri kuliner di Indonesia, para pemasar di tantang untuk meningkatkan reputasi merek mereka. Reputasi merek sangat penting, seiring dengan banyaknya jumlah merek yang beredar di pasaran. Peningkatan reputasi merek dapat dilakukan dengan pemakaian berbagai media sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian deskriptif adalah pendekatan yang melaporkan keadaan objek maupun subjek yang diteliti sesuai dengan apa adanya pada saat penelitian berlangsung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Rumah Makan Mbak Daeng melakukan strategi komunikasi dengan memanfaatkan media sosial dan telah memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan penjualan. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan tingkat kepuasan yang dimiliki oleh konsumen serta kesan yang diberikan oleh konsumen terkait dengan produk, tempat, harga, dan promosi yang dilakukan.

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu : 1) untuk mendeskripsikan proses pelaksanaan Praktek Kerja Lapang (PKL) di SMKN Tapango, 2) untuk mendeskripsikan faktor apa saja penghambat pelaksanaan PKL SMKN Tapango. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah pihak sekolah SMKN Tapango, siswa kelas XI tahun ajaran 2019-2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara dengan informan tanpa perantara, data arsip, dan dokumtasi. Hasil penelitian dari analisis proses pelaksanaan Prakerin telah dilaksanakan dengan baik sesuai dengan rencana yang di tetapkan pada dokumen pelaksanaan PKL. Relevansi sekolah dengan DUDIKA terhadap proses pelaksanaan prakerin telah berjalan dengan baik sesuai dengan rencana namun masih harus di perkuat lagi di mitra DUDIKA agar berselaras dengan yang di ajarkan sekolah. Faktor penghambat dalam pelaksanaan Prakerin yaitu tempat PKL yang jauh dari tempat tinggal, proses pembimbingan serta ketidaksesuaian antara kurikulum sekolah dengan DUDIKA.  Kata Kunci: Analisis Praktek Kerja lapang, Persepsi siswa, SMKN Tapango

Abstract

The Indonesian government has taken significant strides towards promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) by offering subsidies to the public and encouraging local governments to embrace this sustainable transportation solution. This research aims to assess the preparedness of local governments, with a particular focus on Makassar City, in implementing policies to facilitate the integration of electric vehicles into their transportation systems. Employing a qualitative research approach, this study delves into statutory documents and regulations to gauge the progress and readiness of Makassar City's government in embracing EVs. The findings indicate that while the Makassar City Government has taken initial steps by introducing programs such as the Mobile Doctor Service Car program, Co'mo Car Electric Motor Program (Te'tere), and providing electric vehicles for officials, there is still a notable absence of comprehensive policies governing the use of electric vehicles. To ensure the sustained growth of EV adoption in Makassar City, it is imperative for the local government to formulate and enact relevant regulations, be it through regional laws, mayoral decrees, or other legal frameworks. These regulations should encompass various aspects of electric vehicle usage, including incentives, charging infrastructure, and sustainability practices. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of establishing a robust network of public electric vehicle charging stations to support the growing EV community in Makassar City. These facilities will play a pivotal role in enhancing the convenience and accessibility of electric vehicles for both residents and visitors, thus further promoting their adoption.

Abstract

Fishing for yellowfin tuna has been carried out by fishermen for the last 10 (ten) years, where fishing for yellowfin tuna has been carried out continuously, which can cause fishing activities to be environmentally unfriendly and have an impact on reducing the production of fish catches.This research aim to determine the value and status of sustainability of yellowfin tuna fishing in talaud islands district, using an ecosystem approach to fisheries management social domain and economic domain. The research method is descriptive. The research sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The social domain is very good and economic domain is good.
