The present research aimed to discover improvements in EFL students’ writing skills ability through a news video-based learning strategy in news item text. The researcher applied a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest classroom research design (pre-experimental). The data obtained in this research were calculated using the manual statistical method and SPSS statistics version 27. The data were analyzed using the statistical formula of paired sample t-test computation. The population of the research was all of the students in the Acceleration class of MAN 2 Kota Makassar, where the participants consisted of 14 students as well as the sample of the research. Based on the mean score of the students’ pretest was 78 in average to good categories while the mean score of the students’ posttest was 84 in good to excellent categories. Moreover, the result of the data was supported by the t-test analysis, in which the t-test value was higher than the t-table value (-3,113>2,160). So, it can be summarized that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, which means a News Video–based Learning Strategy through YouTube of VOA Learning English effectively increases EFL students’ writing skills while composing a news item text paragraph.

The research aimed to investigate whether using YouTube videos improve students' pronunciation ability. Employing a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, the study focused on students in eighth grade at SMPN 3 Baebunta, with a sample size of 30 students from class 8.A. Data collection involved pre-tests and post-tests. The analysis revealed a notable increase in post-test mean scores compared to pre-test scores, indicating an improvement from a very poor to a good category. Statistical analysis using a t-test with a significance level of 0.05 demonstrated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). Thus, according to the study's hypothesis, the utilization of YouTube videos significantly enhanced students' pronunciation skills at SMPN 3 Baebunta. Consequently, the researcher concluded that the use of YouTube videos improved students' pronunciation at SMPN 3 Baebunta.Keywords: Pronunciation,YouTube Videos.

Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan bahasa Inggris dasar kepada anak-anak usia sekolah dasar golongan elit BB, mengubah persepsi para orang tua mereka terhadap pentingnya bahasa Inggris, dan mensosialisasikan hasil pelatihan ini kepada pemerintah untuk memberikan perhatian lebih terhadap pendidikan bahasa Inggris anak-anak usia sekolah khususnya yang secara ekonomi tergolong tidak mampu. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menggunakan metode yang bervariasi, yaitu (1) ceramah: penjelasan tentang bahasa Inggris dasar, (2) diskusi: memberikan kesempatan kepada peserta untuk menanyakan hal-hal yang kurang dipahami, (3) bermain: untuk menghindari kejenuhan; dan (4) Tes: untuk mengetahui kemajuan peserta sesuai dengan apa yang telah diajarkan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa program terlaksana dengan lancar, peserta memperlihatkan minat, motivasi dan perhatian yang baik meskipun kesulitan yang relatif normal dihadapi mereka , orang tua peserta memiliki persepsi yang positif terhadap pentingnya bahasa Inggris, sosialisasi hasil kegiatan direspon positif pemerintah setempat, dan sekitar 90% peserta mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan terhadap materi bahasa Inggris dasar, dan sisanya perlu diberi latihan-latihan tambahan.

Speaking is a productive skill in which the activity involves two or more people interacting to transfer or get messages and information. The objectives of this study are to find out if the use of film subtitles is effective for improving students' speaking ability. The researcher employed a one-group pre- and post-test experimental design utilizing quantitative methods. Data collection was conducted through pre-tests, treatments, post-tests, and questionnaires. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between students' English-speaking ability before watching movies with subtitles and after watching movies without subtitles. This means that watching movies with subtitles can improve students' speaking ability at SMPN 21 Makassar.

Postur dosen sebagai salah satu bentuk komunikasi nonverbal dalam proses belajar mengajar memiliki peran tersendiri terhadap atmosfir pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Hal ini juga diyakini turut berdampak terhadap minat dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana postur dosen memengaruhi minat dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran dan pengajaran keterampilan bahasa Inggris. Metode penelitian kualitatif dipilih untuk mengeksplorasi lebih jauh mengenai pengaruh postur dosen terhadap minat dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah keterampilan bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa atensi, perasaan nyaman, dan rasa ingin tahu merupakan tiga (3) indikator yang menunjukkan adanya pengaruh postur dosen terhadap minat dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Temuan pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara implikatif variasi posisi postur dosen pada saat mengajar sangat berperan penting dan dibutuhkan oleh mahasiswa.

This research aims to find out the profile of pedagogical competence of English. The subject of the research was two English teachers at SMPN 1 Liukang Kalmas. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The interview and documentation were used as the main tools to collect data. The results of this research showed that the two English teachers demonstrated good in organizing educational development activities due to: (1) In implementing learning activities English teachers’ lessons begin with prayer, apperception, motivation, and clear objectives, setting a positive tone. (2) In responding to learners’ mistakes as stages of the learning process teachers constructively respond to students' mistakes, offering support and rewards that enhance motivation and confidence. (3) In classroom management English teachers’ cooperative classroom atmosphere is fostered through rotating group activities, keeping students engaged. (4) In providing opportunities for learners to express opinions in discussion. The teachers also facilitate interactive discussions, and group problem-solving, and address challenges like limited internet access, ensuring sustained student enthusiasm and optimal learning outcomes.

This study aims to find out whether or not the School English Community has any influence on the speaking abilities of students at SMAN 1 Pinrang. Employing a quantitative research method. The primary objective is to quantify the relationship between participation in the English community and improvements in students' speaking skills. A Likert scale questionnaire was administered to a sample of 20 students, comprising both active members of the English community and those not involved in the community. The speaking test measured variables such as accuracy, fluency, and comprehensibility. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics to determine the strength and significance of the relationship between engagement in the English community and speaking ability. The research results show that the English community influences student speaking ability. Students who were more involved in community activities exhibited higher levels of confidence, better fluency, more accurate vocabulary usage, and improved pronunciation compared to their peers who were not active in the community. It can be seen from the result of the speaking test that the average score of the students who joined the English community was a little bit higher than that of the students who did not. In conclusion, the English community can influence students’ speaking ability at SMAN 1 Pinrang.

This research aims to explain the academic procrastination in thesis writing of English Education students. It purposed to determine (1) the tendency of academic procrastination in English Education students (2) find out the causing factors of academic procrastination in thesis writing of English Education Students. The method used in this research is the qualitative descriptive method. The participants of this research were 4 final year students of English Education Universitas Negeri Makassar. In collecting data, structured interviews are conducted by utilizing pre-provided interview questions. The results of the research concluded that (1) there is a tendency to do academic procrastination in students which is characterized by delay in starting and completing thesis, delay (lateness) in doing thesis, time gaps between plans and actual performance, and do more enjoyable activities (2) the causing factors of academic procrastination in writing thesis can be internal and external. Internally, it can be physical (sick and physically tired) and psychological (fear of being wrong, lacking ideas, fear of consultation, laziness and preferring enjoyable activities). From the external aspect, it can be in the form of facilities, environment, and writing thesis in English.Keywords: Academic Procrastination, English Education Students, Thesis Writing

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of YouTube educational channel on students’ listening comprehension. This research method was Pre- experimental design. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 8 Luwu Timur in the academic year 2022/2023 through a random sampling technique. The sample of this research is 30 students from XI MIPA 1. The instrument of this research was listening test, which delivered as the pretest and the post-test. The research findings showed that using YouTube educational channel in learning listening was significant to improve students’ listening comprehension. It was proved that the mean score of students’ pretest was 64.17 and the mean score of students’ posttest was 85.17. From that data, it could be concluded that the use of YouTube educational channel could improve students’ listening comprehension. Keywords— YouTube Educational Channel, Listening Comprehension

Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan praktikal kepada guru-guru bahasa Inggris MAN Pangkep mengenai pengucapan bunyi-bunyi memediasi penggunaan bahasa pengajaran dalam kelas. Pelatihan ini terdiri atas beberapa kegiatan, yaitu (1) penyajian materi mengenai bunyi-bunyi fonem, (2) tanya-jawab atau berdiskusi tentang hal-hal yang dianggap memerlukan klarifikasi, (3) penugasan peserta secara individu dan kelompok untuk mencari teks yang menjadi bahan bacaan atau latihan melafalkan bunyi vokal dan konsonan bahasa Inggris yang tepat, baik dan benar, dan (4) penyajian peserta untuk membaca nyaring teks. Ceramah dengan presentasi visual melalui proyektor, diskusi, konsultasi individu/kelompok kepada pelatih, dan presentasi/ demonstrasi. adalah metode yang diterapkan pada pelatihan ini. Hasil pelatihan ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) pemahaman peserta masih variatif mengenai dasar-dasar teori mengenai bunyi fonem yang meliputi bunyi vokal monoftong, diftong, dan triptong dan bunyi konsonan dan klaster konsonan bahasa Inggris, dan (2) sekitar 85% peserta mampu menyelesaikan tugas bacaan yang dikemas dalam bentuk audiovisual (video rekaman) yang menunjukkan kemampuan peserta membaca teks bahasa Inggris dengan baik, benar, dan tepat sesuai dengan teori yang diberikan.
