Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to implement the Six Sigma method on formal men's jacket products in the garment industry to increase the level of sigma. The methodology is based on the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) approach. The new approach in this study is the determination of 5W+1H using a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with five expert judgments. The design of this study has applied the Six Sigma method at the Measure stage. It is a measurement before improvement and after the Control stage as a measurement after improvement. The results of this study have increased the level of sigma from 3.5765 to 3.7839, so there is an increase of 5.48%. Increasing the sigma level contributes to a decrease in defects at the finish line by 44.09% every month. Implementing the Six Sigma method to the DMAIC approach has succeeded in increasing the level of sigma, automatically reducing the percentage of defects and increasing the productivity of formal men's jackets in the garment industry.

Abstract

Vehicle type approval (VTA) total registration of electronic vehicles in Indonesia for the accumulation period until August 2023 is 81,525 units with a composition of 4-wheeled vehicles 18,300 units. The use of electric vehicles is still a tiny portion compared to the motorized vehicle population in Indonesia, which will reach more than 146 million units in 2022. It is different from developments in Europe, the United States, and China, where more research into the use of electric vehicles is being carried out. The readiness of the automotive industry system to produce electric vehicles is absolutely necessary to achieve superior productivity levels. National automotive companies need to anticipate that changes in production systems will also change along with changes in processes and components in electric vehicles. In the next few years, world-class manufacturing production systems will refer to LARG (lean, agile, resilient, and green) aspects. Lean, agile, resilient, and environmentally friendly manufacturing industrial operations are critical. This research aims to determine the level of application of LARG aspects in the electric vehicle automotive industry. The method used was exploratory, and a questionnaire was filled out with industry experts and analyzed using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and objective matrix (OMAX). The results of this study confirm that all aspects of LARG require improvement. Resilience (R) and green (G) have performance below 10 percent, so these two aspects are priorities for improvement by the electric car industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

The competition in the automotive industry is increasingly challenging, where the company's task of ensuring customers are satisfied with the products we produce is the main factor in winning them. That is the value of the manufacturing industry to continuously improve quality. This study aims to reduce the reject rate and determine the priority of problems in the fuel tank production process. This study uses the six sigma method based on a simple problem-solving methodology consisting of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. This method combines various statistical tools and other process improvement approaches. The results of this study show that the company's Sigma level in February carried out in the welding & press section obtained a sigma value of 4.0 and process capability of 1.34. This means that the quality control process that has been carried out has not been going well because the product is defective and still needs to be improved. Finally, this paper provides some recommendations for improving process capability.
