Abstract

This research aims to develop an optimization model for tahsinul qiro’ah (Qur’anic reading improvement) through a Qur’anic reading mapping program integrated with the talaqqi method at Pondok Jannatun Naim Lampung. Specifically, the study analyzes the initial condition of students’ reading abilities, describes the design and implementation of the reading mapping program combined with talaqqi, identifies supporting and inhibiting factors, and evaluates the effectiveness of the model. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach conducted at Pondok Jannatun Naim Lampung involving seventh-grade students. Data collection techniques include participatory observation, in-depth interviews with caregivers, teachers, and students, and documentation analysis. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Initial findings from the pre-mapping evaluation using a reading checklist for 17 seventh-grade students indicate diverse reading proficiency levels, with most students showing notes such as “less fluent”, “needs improvement”, and “still lacking in tajwid application”. These findings highlight the necessity of a systematic and targeted learning strategy. The proposed model integrates diagnostic reading mapping as a basis for individualized talaqqi instruction, enabling teachers to monitor student progress accurately and provide tailored guidance. This research contributes a novel conceptual model for optimizing Qur’anic reading instruction in modern Islamic boarding schools by combining traditional talaqqi with systematic evaluation tools.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning, communication, and connection are essential competencies for meaningful mathematics learning, yet their development may also depend on how students respond to academic difficulty. This study examined the structural relationships between Adversity Quotient (AQ) and students’ mathematical reasoning, communication, and connection abilities, including the direct and indirect pathways among these constructs. A quantitative cross-sectional design using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed with 106 seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Natar, Lampung, Indonesia. Data were collected using an AQ questionnaire and a 15-item social-arithmetic test assessing mathematical reasoning, communication, and connection abilities, and were analyzed using SmartPLS 3.0. The results showed that AQ was positively associated with mathematical communication (β = 0.573, p < .001) but was not significantly associated with mathematical reasoning (β = -0.139, p = .183) or mathematical connection (β = -0.071, p = .399). Mathematical reasoning was positively associated with communication (β = 0.390, p < .001), while communication showed the strongest direct relationship with connection (β = 0.712, p < .001). Significant indirect effects were found for AQ on connection through communication (β = 0.408, p < .001) and for reasoning on connection through communication (β = 0.278, p < .001). These findings identify mathematical communication as a central structural bridge linking adversity-related responses and reasoning with students’ ability to establish mathematical connections, offering an integrated perspective on affective and cognitive processes in mathematics learning, particularly within lower-secondary mathematics education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The tahfidz program has increasingly become an important component of Islamic education, not only as a Qur'an memorization activity but also as a strategic medium for strengthening students' religious character. However, many tahfidz programs are still primarily evaluated based on the quantity of memorization, while their managerial dimensions and contribution to character formation have not been systematically synthesized. This study aims to analyze tahfidz program management as a strategy for developing students' religious character through a structured library research approach in Islamic education.  This study employed a qualitative structured library research design by synthesizing nine primary studies identified through Google Scholar, Garuda, SINTA-indexed journal portals, institutional journal repositories, and publisher websites, supported by additional conceptual and methodological references published between 2018 and 2026. The data were examined through qualitative content analysis involving data reduction, thematic classification, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The findings show that effective tahfidz program management consists of planning memorization targets and character indicators, organizing mentors and memorization schedules, implementing talaqqi, memorization submission, murajaah, and tasmi', as well as supervising and evaluating memorization through mutabaah books, memorization cards, periodic assessment, and follow-up guidance. Across the reviewed studies, these managerial functions were reported to be associated with religious character, including discipline, responsibility, honesty, patience, istiqamah, good manners, self-confidence, and love for the Qur'an. The principal conceptual contribution is a preliminary five-function management model that maps managerial processes onto mechanisms of religious value internalization. The synthesis suggests that Islamic schools, madrasahs, and pesantren can consider managing tahfidz programs as integrated character education systems rather than merely as memorization-oriented activities.

Abstract

Islamic higher education institutions increasingly adopt Outcome-Based Education (OBE) to satisfy accreditation demands and demonstrate measurable graduate achievement. However, Islamic values are often positioned as institutional slogans rather than as auditable design elements within curriculum governance. This study formulates an integrative curriculum governance model that operationalizes maqasid shariah within OBE and continuous quality improvement (CQI). A Systematic Literature Review was conducted using a PRISMA-informed protocol on 24 core studies selected from 112 initial records published between 2015 and 2025. The search covered Scopus, SINTA/Garuda, DOAJ, and Google Scholar using predefined keywords, inclusion criteria, quality appraisal, and thematic coding. The synthesis reveals three fragmented trajectories: OBE is strong in measurable curriculum design, maqasid is strong in ethical-philosophical orientation, and quality management is strong in evaluation and accountability. The novelty of this article lies in converting maqasid from a normative value framework into an operational curriculum-governance logic that can be mapped into graduate profiles, learning outcomes, assessment rubrics, value-integrated learning, and CQI documentation. The proposed five-stage model provides a replicable pathway for Islamic higher education to align academic measurability with Islamic epistemological identity and social responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model in Fiqh education by examining its effectiveness, challenges, and optimization strategies. The study employs a qualitative approach using content analysis of relevant literature on the implementation of the Jigsaw model in Fiqh education across various educational levels. The data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns related to learning outcomes, social and communication skills, student engagement and motivation, as well as implementation challenges and strategies. The findings indicate that the Jigsaw model contributes positively to students’ cognitive learning outcomes, social and communication skills, engagement, and learning motivation. These outcomes are associated with individual responsibility, peer interaction, peer teaching, and positive interdependence during the learning process. However, its implementation faces several challenges, particularly in terms of time management, differences in students’ abilities, content division, and equitable participation within groups. The implementation of Jigsaw can be optimized through the use of digital learning media, systematic content organization, collaborative scaffolding, and assessment that considers both the learning process and outcomes. These findings suggest that the Jigsaw model has potential as an alternative approach to Fiqh education that supports academic achievement while fostering students’ social skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze leadership in Islamic education management and its implications for improving the quality of Islamic education. This study is motivated by the need for Islamic educational institutions to not only improve academic achievement but also strengthen governance, educator professionalism, religious culture, learning innovation, and student character. This study employs a qualitative approach using an integrative-conceptual literature review method through the identification, selection, and synthesis of various journal articles, academic books, and scientific documents relevant to educational leadership, Islamic education management, and the quality of Islamic education. Data were analyzed using thematic synthesis by grouping findings into the dimensions of visionary, transformational, spiritual, instructional, and participatory leadership. The results of the study indicate that leadership in Islamic education management serves as an integrative mechanism that connects institutional vision, managerial functions, the reinforcement of Islamic values, educator development, the improvement of learning quality, stakeholder participation, and a culture of continuous improvement. This study concludes that the quality of Islamic education is the result of the interaction between management effectiveness, moral exemplarity, a religious organizational culture, and the quality of the learning process. The implications of this study underscore the importance of strengthening a model of Islamic educational leadership that is not only administrative but also strategic, spiritual, instructional, participatory, and oriented toward sustainable quality.

Abstract

Digital transformation requires education systems to move beyond the technical adoption of platforms and devices toward pedagogically grounded, inclusive, and sustainable learning designs. This article aims to analyse the urgency, planning models, implementation determinants, and digital media strategies needed to strengthen digital learning in Indonesia's twenty-first-century education system. Using a qualitative structured integrative literature review, this study synthesised conceptual, empirical, and policy literature on digital learning, instructional design, TPACK, SAMR, blended learning, learning analytics, artificial intelligence in education, and Indonesian curriculum policy. The data were analysed through content analysis and thematic synthesis to identify recurring concepts, relationships among components, and implications for educational governance. The results indicate that digital learning in Indonesia is shaped by five interrelated dimensions: system context, instructional design, operational implementation, digital media strategy, and continuous evaluation. The study further proposes an integrative conceptual model that connects ADDIE, TPACK, critical SAMR reflection, blended and hybrid learning, and data-informed evaluation within the specific context of Indonesian education. The discussion argues that digital learning should be understood not as media migration but as systemic pedagogical transformation. The study implies that teachers need stronger digital pedagogical competence, institutions need coherent digital learning ecosystems, and policymakers need to ensure equitable infrastructure, ethical data governance, and sustained professional development.
