Abstract

Amylase producing bacteria have been isolated from Dondang hot springs in Muara Jawa sub-district based on clear zone. Dondang hot springs became the site of the discovery of thermostable bacteria. Obtained 1 selected isolate showed amylase activity with the formation of clear zone around the colony on solid media containing 1% starch. Based on the morphology and physiology tests the selected isolates showed the genus Bacillus sp. The results showed total protein concentration of crude extract of enzyme from amylase producing bacteria isolate that is 2, 4068 μg /mL. Abstract

Penelitian tentang uji fitokimia, toksisitas dan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kasar batang bakau hitam (Rhizophora mucronata Lam.) telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui senyawa metabolit, dan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak kasar metanol. Metode yang digunakan diantaranya uji fitokimia dilakukan dengan uji warna, uji toksisitas dilakukan dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test dan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan ekstrak kasar batang bakau hitam mengandung senyawa flavonoid, fenolik dan triterpenoid. Pada hasil uji toksisitas dari ekstrak kasar metanol memiliki nilai LC50 sebesar 420,9017 ppm dan hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak kasar metanol memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 119,432 ppm. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan ekstrak kasar metanol dengan nilai LC50 memiliki tingkat toksisitas yang toksik dan nilai IC50 memiliki kekuatan aktivitas antioksidan sedang. Abstract

Preparation of sulfonate silica as acid catalyshas been done with rice husk ash material using impregnation method. The process of making the catalyst was conducted on the extraction and impregnation. The results of the study were characterized using FT-IR spectrophotometer and SEM. Abstract

Tanaman insulin (Smallanthus sonchifolius) merupakan salah satu tanaman dari famili Asteraceae yang telah dikenal dan dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat Indonesia sebagai obat penyakit diabetes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui golongan senyawa yang terkandung dalam ekstrak daun, batang dan kulit batang tanaman insulin (Smallanthus sonchifolius) serta menentukan tingkat toksisitasnya terhadap larva udang Artemia salina L. dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Hasil yang didapatkan esktrak daun insulin mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder golongan flavonoid, alkaloid dan steroid; ekstrak batang tanaman insulin mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder flavonoid, alkaloid, fenolik dan kuinon; ekstrak kulit batang tanaman insulin mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin dan fenolik. Berdasarkan uji toksisitas, ekstrak daun dan batang tanaman insulin bersifat toksik dengan nilai LC50 berturut-turut 136,8674 ppm dan 52,6138 ppm sedangkan ekstrak kulit batang tanaman insulin bersifat sangat toksik dengan nilai LC50 27,7459 ppm. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui senyawa metabolit dan aktivitas antioksidan pada ekstrak total metanol. Metode yang digunakan diantaranya uji fitokimia dilakukan dengan uji warna dan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan ekstrak total metanol batang bakau api-api putih mengandung senyawa flavonoid, kuinon, alkaloid, fenolik, steroid dan saponin. Sedangkan hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak total metanol memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 111,5966 ppm. Berdasarkan data nilai IC50 tersebut dapat disimpulkan ekstrak total metanol memiliki kekuatan aktivitas antioksidan lemah. Kata Kunci : Avicennia alba Blume., Metabolit Sekunder, Antioksidan, DPPH.

Abstract

Kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata (L.) King & H.E Robins) is one of the plants of the Asteraceae family that is commonly used by the community as a wound healing medicinal ingredient and has antioxidant and antibacterial activities. This research was conducted to determine the type of secondary metabolite compounds contained in the crude extract, n-Hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol-water fraction kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata (L.) King & H.E Robins) and determine the level of toxicity against to Artemia salina L. using the BSLT method. Phytochemical test results of crude extract leaves kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L.) King & H.E Robins) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and phenolics. The n-Hexane fraction contains steroids and quinones. The ethyl acetate fraction contains flavonoids and phenolics. The methanol-water fraction contains flavonoids, saponins and phenolics. Based on toxicity tests, crude extract, n-hexane, ethyl acetate fractions of kirinyuh leaves is highly toxic with successive LC50 values of 2.88 ppm, 8.12 ppm and 6.86 ppm, then the methanol-water fraction is toxic with an LC50 value of 186.76 ppm. Abstract

Nipah (Nypa fruticans Wurmb.) is one of the plant family Arecaceae were known an used by society as a diabetes medicine, toothache, sprue and headaches. The aims of this research are to know the group of compound that containing in the extract of nipah’s leaf (Nypa fruticans Wurmb.) and determine the level of toxicity to the Artemia salina Linn. Color test and Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method were use for phytochemical screening and determine toxicity, respectively. The result of phytochemical screening indicate that crude extract of nipah’s leaf contains secondary metabolites of flavonoids, phenolics, saponins and steroids. The result of the toxicity test indicate that crude extract of nipah’s leaf with the LC50 20.89 ppm was very strong. Keywords: Nipah’s leaf, phytochemical and toxicity

Abstract

Fabrication and characterization of edible films from galactomannan nipah fruit (Nypa fruticans Wurmb) with the incorporation of methanol extract of tahongai leaf (Kleinhovia hospita L.) as an antioxidant has been conducted. This study aims to determine the best concentration of methanol extract of tahongai leaves to increase the antioxidant activity of edible films using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The results showed that the edible film containing galactomannan 1.5%, glycerol 25% and methanol extract of tahongai leaves with concentrations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% showed antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 224.02 mg/L, 215.82 mg/L, 153.51 mg/L, 129.48 mg/L and 107.87 mg/L respectively. The concentration of incorporation of methanol extract of tahongai leaves to produce the best edible film is 3% which increases antioxidant activity when compared to edible films without incorporation with properties having a moisture content of 15.04%, thickness of 0.21 mm, water vapor transmission of 43.70 g/m2/hour and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) analysis showed the surface morphology was homogeneous and slightly rough.
