Abstract

Land suitability evaluation is a crucial component that supports the sustainable development of aquaculture. One economically valuable commodity in this field is the grouper fish. Kulisusu Bay, located in North Buton Regency, is an area with potential for grouper culture in floating cages. The objective of this research is to analyze the suitability of the land in Kulisusu Bay for floating cage aquaculture of grouper. The study begins by identifying key parameters that directly affect the success of aquaculture activities. These parameters include primary and secondary data that are used to build spatial data. Subsequently, a spatial model is constructed based on this data, resulting in a spatial database. Each parameter is then weighted and scored. The final step involves spatial overlay modeling, where the weighted and scored results are used to generate a land suitability map. The research results show that a significant portion of 2,253 hectares is highly suitable, with an additional 810 hectares being suitable for the activity. These areas are primarily concentrated in the central region of Teluk Kulisusu. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the waters of Teluk Kulisusu have great potential for the development of grouper culture in floating cages. However, the support of various stakeholders, including the government, is necessary to ensure that this aquaculture activity is sustainable by implementing environmentally friendly culture practices.

Abstract

Industri tahu adalah industri yang menghasilkan  limbah  cair  yang  mengandung  senyawa  organik  dan  anorganik, sehingga  berdampak  negatif  terhadap  lingkungan  dan  masyarakat  sekitar.  Upaya  untuk  mengatasi pencemaran   akibat   limbah   dilakukan   dengan   cara   fitoremediasi   menggunakan   berbagai macam tanaman air. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah Untuk menganalisis uji penurunan kadar pencemar air limbah tahu ditinjau dari parameter BOD, COD, TSS, suhu dan pH menggunakan metode fitoremediasi dengan memanfaatkan tanaman air (eceng gondok, kangkung air, dan ganggang), menganalisis perbandingan efektifitas fitoremediasi dari tiga tanaman air (eceng gondok, kangkung air dan ganggang) dalam menurunkan kadar pencemar air limbah tahu (BOD, COD ,TSS, suhu dan pH) dan menganalisis pengaruh konsentrasi limbah terhadap penurunan kadar pencemar limbah dalam meningkatkan kualitas air limbah, dengan konsentrasi limbah pada fitoremediasi. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok, dengan perlakuan jenis tanaman air (T) yaitu eceng gondok, ganggang, dan kangkung serta konsentrasi air limbah tahu (L).  Parameter penelitian adalah: BOD, COD, TSS, pH, dan suhu. Hasil penelitian jenis tanaman air yang memiliki efektivitas paling tinggi dalam menurukan kadar cemaran limbah (BOD, COD, dan TSS) adalah tanaman ganggang. Pada perlakuan konsentrasi limbah, diperoleh hasil bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi limbah tahu yang digunakan, maka efektivitas penurunan cemaran limbah akan semakin kecil.

Abstract

Study on some reproductive aspects of blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) in Mayangan waters, Subang, West Java had been conducted for eleven months (Ferbuary-Desember 2003). The blue swimming crab samples (n=556 individuals, consisted of 251 male and 305 female) were caught by fisherman using crab net and trap sized 25x70 cm. This study covered sex ratio, gonad maturity stage (GMS), gonad somatic index (GSI), fecundity and eggs diameter. During the study (carapace width varied from 63,40-159,70 mm for male and 59,30-163 mm for female), sex ratio (male : female) of the crab was 1 : 1,2. Gonad maturity stage of the crab varied from immature to spent condition. Number of the male mature gonad was found higher during February - April, while female one was in February and June. Carapace width of first mature gonad analyzed using by Speraman-Karber method were 101,5 mm (male) and 122,2 mm (female). Gonad somatic index of male and female ranged 0,57-5,59% and 0,35-5,63%, respectively. The highest value of the gonad somatic index was found in June indicating a peak of spawning season of the crab. Fecundity of the crab ranged from 64.380-1.526.600, while egg carried in the abdomen (of ovigerous female) ranged 80.998-1.343.850. The egg diameter varied from 0,09-0,48 mm, with one mode indicating a total spawner.

Abstract

Blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is a fishery commodity that is the mainstay of Indonesian exports. Generally, exporters export crab as frozen, peeled, boiled meat, which is perishable. Considering the high potential of crab catching and the utilization of crab meat as an export commodity, it is necessary to research to determine the physicochemical and microbiological quality of crab caught in Rembang Regency, Central Java. The samples used were frozen fresh crab, frozen boiled, and peeled boiled meat by fishing households and miniplants. The analyses performed were yield, protein content, amino acid profile, TVB-N, microbial contamination, and heavy metals. The results showed a yield of 28.36-42.34%, protein content of 17.98±0.64 and 21.24±1.47% (b/w), total lysine 1.79-1.87%, glutamic acid 4.05-4.78% (b/w), hardness 22.145-38.096 N, and cohesiveness 0.476-0.638. TVB-N values of crab (fresh and boiled) and crab meat ranged from 9.51±1.67 to 54.68±0.00 mg N/100 g sample. There was no Salmonella (negative), Escherichia coli <0.3 APM/100 g sample, and ALT 6.15×108 CFU/g sample. Heavy metal contamination of crab meat was Pb 0.12±0.09 mg/kg sample, Cd 0.15±0.12 mg/kg sample, and Hg 1.48±0.71 mg/kg sample. Captured blue swimming crab in Rembang Regency has good quality. The heavy metal Hg found in peeled crab meat in miniplants was above the permissible threshold, requiring further testing.

Abstract

Cinangka Village, located in Bogor, was historically known as a site for illegal battery recycling. However, the activity ceased 15 years ago. The aim of this study was to determine the potential health impacts of consuming Columbia catfish raised in a pond contaminated by used battery smelting and its potential for causing cancer, non-cancer degenerative diseases, and affecting food safety. The study included testing for heavy metal content in the fish flesh and dissolved metals in the water using XRF and AAS techniques. It also calculated bioconcentration factors and assessed health risks associated with fish consumption, both for cancer and non-cancer conditions, in relation to food safety. The results indicated that the fish is capable of effectively accumulating heavy metals in its body. The flesh was found to be contaminated with Fe (537.53 ppm), Cu (47.69 ppm), Zn (942.53 ppm), As (11.58 ppm), and Pb (13.07 ppm). The pond water itself was contaminated with Fe, Zn, As, Pb, and Cu. Bioconcentration of these metals was observed in the flesh, with Fe (658.33), Cu (4541.90), Zn (17357.83), As (9.94), and Pb (142.53). The Target Hazard Quotient (THQ) > 1 value for all heavy metals in children, while for adults, the THQ > 1 only for Zn, As, and Pb. Both children and adults had a Hazard Index (HI) > 1, indicating that consuming these fish presents a risk of non-cancer degenerative diseases. Consuming fish poses a cancer risk, with the risk level being low to medium for adults and medium to high for children. The safe daily consumption of Columbia catfish for children is 0.004 grams per day, while for adults, it is 0.015 grams per day. The maximum safe consumption limit is 0.026 kg/week for children and 0.091 kg/week for adults. Children are notably more vulnerable to these risks than adults.

Abstract

Health care facilities wastewater (HWW), such as hospital, is classified as domestic wastewater according to Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No.P68/2016. One of the important parameters is total coliform.  The disinfection process using chlorine is effective in reducing the number of coliforms, but it is indicated to cause residues and side effects for other microorganisms in the receiving water bodies. This research is an experimental study by utilizing ozone and probiotics from whey kefir to eliminate coliform bacteria, aiming to determine the strategy for choosing a method for removing total coliform bacteria in HWW using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach. Data processing used Expert Choice 2011 software and it was found that the criteria with the highest score were environmental aspects, namely 0.302 and the priority indicator being minimizing the risk of pollution with the highest score, 0.366. Determination of strategies in the process of eliminating coliform bacteria in HWW by making choices, between the use of chlorine, ozone and a combination of ozone and whey kefir probiotics with five criterias approach (environmental, technological, social, economic, and institutional). Ultimate priority by using ozon was chosen with a score of 0.449; use of ozone and probiotics is the second priority with a score of 0.316; and utilization of chlorine with a score of 0.235.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui strategi pengawasan illegal fishing dalam upaya menjaga sumberdaya perikanan di perairan Barat Aceh. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah secara kuantitatif-deskriptif dengan tabulasi distribusi frekuensi dan metode analisis SWOT. Sampel yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 40 orang responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) tingkat pengawasan pengelolaan sumberdaya kelautan dan perikanan terhadap illegal fishing dari tahun 2015 sampai 2020 mayoritas yang melakukan illegal fishing adalah Warga Negara Indonesia (WNI) dibandingkan dengan Warga Negara Asing (WNA), b) pelanggaran yang bersifat adminitrasi mayoritas pelanggaran kasus pemalsuan dokumen dan jenis pelanggaran yang bersifat destructive fishing (bersifat alat tangkap terlarang) selebihnya adalah bersifat pelanggaran pengemboman. Sedangkan mengenai perkembangan pos pengawasan belum berjalan sesuai dengan tujuan dan sasaran pembanguna nasional dalam bidang kelautan dan perikanan, sedangkan sarana dan prasarana yang tersedia tidak sebanding dengan luas wilayah kerja bagi pihak pengawas. Selanjutnya,(2) Sumber Daya Kelautan dan Perikanan/SDI terhadap dampak illegal fishing menunjukkan pada tingkat penyusutan berupa ikan demersal dalam beberapa tahun terakhir yaitu sebesar  41 – 60 (%). (3) untuk strategi pengawasan terhadap illegal fishing dalam upaya menangani permasalahan illegal fishing menunjukkan bahwa nilai faktor internal (kekuatan dan kelemahan) pengawasan illegal fishing adalah sebesar 2.90 yaitu berada pada posisi dan strategi yang harus diterapkan adalah menggunakan kekuatan untuk memanfaatkan peluang jangka panjang dengan cara strategi diversifikasi. Sedangkan nilai skor faktor eksternal (peluang dan ancaman) berada pada posisi yang kuat yaitu 3.47 dengan strategi yang dapat dilakukan adalah pihak pengawas illegal fishing ini adalah meminimalkan masalah internal sehingga dapat merebut peluang yang lebih baik untuk menjaga sumber daya kelautan dan perikanan bagi pelaku illegal fishing di wilayah perairan barat Aceh.
