Abstract

Stainless steel 316L is a metal that can be used for bone implants but exhibits low biocompatibility. The low biocompatibility can lead to inflammation, infection, or rejection within the body's tissue system. It is coated with hydroxyapatite-polycaprolactone to enhance the biocompatibility of stainless steel 316L. This study aims to examine the effects of stirring time, stirring speed, and the appropriate hydroxyapatite-polycaprolactone ratio on the shear strength of hydroxyapatite-polycaprolactone using the dip coating method and to determine the empirical model for the resulting shear strength of the hydroxyapatite-polycaprolactone layer. Hydroxyapatite and polycaprolactone were mixed using acetone and stirred at a speed of 150 rpm for 20 hours. Then, the stainless steel 316L substrate was immersed in the suspension and dried at 56°C for 1 hour. The process conditions optimization in this study employed a 2k modeling approach. The empirical shear strength model in this research is represented as y = -216.9 + 36.42A + 1.426B + 14.43C - 0.2345AB - 2.380AC - 0.08943BC + 0.01468AB*C, with an R2 value of 0.99. The variables with the most significant influence on shear strength, ranked from largest to smallest, are the HA-PCl ratio (A), followed by the two-way interaction between the HA-PCl ratio (A) and stirring speed (B), the three-way interaction between the HA-PCl ratio (A), stirring speed (B), and stirring time (C), followed by the two-way interaction between the HA-PCl ratio (A) and stirring time (C), stirring time (C), stirring speed (B), and the two-way interaction between stirring speed (B) and stirring time (C). The highest shear strength of the hydroxyapatite layer was achieved at a HA-PCl ratio of 5:1.5, stirring speed of 150 rpm, and stirring time of 20 hours, with a value of 5.71 MPa

Abstract

This study explores the values of Islamic constitutionalism as reflected in three significant texts: al-Muqaddimah fi Intizam Waza’if al-Malik, Tsamarat al-Muhimmah Diyafah Li al- Umara wa al-Kubara' Ahl Hakim, and Gurindam Dua Belas by Raja Ali Haji. These works, originating  from diverse socio-cultural contexts, represent a continuum of Islamic political thought that emphasizes justice (‘adl), consultation (shūrā), accountability (mas’ūliyyah), and the ethical limitations of political authority. The study aims to examine how these texts articulate principles of governance consistent with Islamic constitutional ideals and how such principles remain relevant to contemporary constitutional discourse. Using a qualitative- descriptive method, this research analyzes the textual content of each work through the lens of Islamic political ethics and compares their constitutional implications. Findings show that each text, despite its distinct genre and historical setting, upholds a model of leadership that is morally bound, consultative, and justice-oriented. al-Muqaddimah offers a structured political  theory  rooted  in  classical  Islamic  governance,  Tsamarat  al-Muhimmah emphasizes the moral character and restraint of leaders, while Gurindam Dua Belas integrates Islamic and Malay ethical-political teachings through literary expression. The  study  concludes  that  these  texts  provide  a  foundational  framework  for understanding Islamic constitutionalism beyond legal formalism, focusing on the moral  obligations  of  rulers  and  the  collective  rights  of  society.  This  research contributes to the discourse on Islamic constitutional theory by highlighting the ethical and cultural dimensions of Islamic governance embedded in classical and local intellectual traditions.

Abstract

This study investigates how students from different academic disciplines experience vocabulary learning through Duolingo, a mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) application. Unlike previous research that predominantly focuses on quantitative outcomes, this study foregrounds individual learning experiences and disciplinary variations among Indonesian university students, a context rarely explored in international scholarship. Using a qualitative multiple case study design, data were collected from ten students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta across five disciplines: Automotive and Heavy Equipment Engineering, Social Welfare, Communication, Primary School Teacher Education, and two postgraduate programs (Hospital Administration and Educational Technology). Data sources included four-week usage observations, activity logs, in-depth interviews, and reflective journals, analyzed thematically and comparatively across cases. Findings indicate that disciplinary background shapes engagement patterns and learning strategies. Engineering students display instrumental and goal-oriented behaviors, social science students engage interactively with gamified features, teacher education students integrate pedagogical perspectives, and postgraduate learners employ metacognitive strategies. Shared challenges include sustaining motivation, contextual limitations of vocabulary, and technical constraints. Overall, Duolingo enhances learner autonomy and provides flexible, personalized support that complements formal instruction. This study contributes to applied linguistics and educational technology by highlighting the role of disciplinary contexts in shaping MALL experiences and offering insights for curriculum design and language policy.

Abstract

Porous bioceramics have been used in biomedical field, especially for bone implant. To generate pores in bioceramics, pore creating substances are added into the process of making ceramic bodies. The purpose of this study is to make porous bioceramics with tri calcium phosphate (TCP) raw material using albumin with variation in the amount of albumin in the raw material and drying temperature on the physical and chemical properties of TCP. Raw material slurry was made by mixing 7 g of TCP, 2 g of starch and 1.5 g of Darvan 821A with 5 g, 7 g and 9 g of albumin in a beaker glass while stirring at a rate of 150 rpm for 3 hours. The slurry was poured into a mold and heated in an oven at 180°C, 200°C and 220°C for 1 hour. Subsequently the sample was burned at 600˚C for 1 hour, following with sintering at 1.100°C for 2 hours. Bioceramic porosity is greater by increasing the amount of albumin and drying temperature, while the compressive strength decreases. Obtained TCP porosity is in the ranges of 68% -78% and compressive strength 0.14-1.4 MPa.
