Abstract

Generally, the weakness in students' democratic attitudes stems from a lack of understanding of the principles of democracy. Therefore, there is a need for a successful learning model to instill democratic attitudes in students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the group investigative learning model on the democratic attitudes of Elementary School Education (PGSD) students. A quantitative approach and quasi-experimental design were employed in this study. Employing a random cluster sampling technique for sample selection, the population comprised a total of 71 second-semester elementary education students, divided into classes A2 and A7. Questionnaires, observations, and documentation were used for data collection. Data analysis involved descriptive analysis and inferential analysis, using tests for normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing through the independent simple t-test. The data analysis resulted in a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000, which is less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05) in the t-test for the experimental class. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, indicating that the implementation of the group investigative learning model significantly influences students' democratic attitudes.

Abstract

Students still have difficulties in developing their interest in learning and the ability to solve science problems. This has an impact on students having difficulty working in groups, communicating, solving problems, and making decisions as the right solution to a problem. The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze whether there is a difference in learning interest and science problem-solving ability of students who use educational comics and students who do not use educational comics (2) to analyze the influence of educational comics on the increase in learning interest and science problem-solving ability in students. This research is expected to provide data about the use of comics in improving students' problem-solving abilities and interest in learning. This research was carried out with the research subject in the form of 5th grade elementary school students. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control design. The data collection method uses research instruments in the form of questionnaires and tests. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on the hypothesis test, the independent t-test with a significant level (a) of 0.05 obtained a significance value of 0.000 and the paired sample t-test with a significance level of (a) 0.05 obtained a significance value of 0.000. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a difference in learning interest and science problem-solving ability between students who use educational comics and students who do not use educational comics, educational comics also affect the increase in learning interest and science problem-solving skills of 5th grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the emergence of a situation of lack of ability to interpret visual media displayed during learning. This study aims to analyze the level of awareness of PGSD students in relation to visual literacy. This research applied a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey as the main method. A total of 54 PGSD UAD students class of 2023 were selected as samples, and data were obtained through questionnaires distributed using Google Forms. The data analysis technique applied descriptive analysis with the help of Microsoft Excel. The findings of the study show that the level of visual literacy skills of PGSD students is generally in the high category. This indicates that students have the awareness to identify, analyze, review, utilize, and produce visual representations and media. However, there are a number of aspects that indicate a low level of visual literacy of students. The latest information in this study implies that the campus can help provide services or seminars to students related to 1) evaluating images as visual communication, 2) evaluating textual information and image sources, 3) getting used to designing and using visual materials that are useful for learning in elementary schools, and 4) the ability to know the license of each image accessed and used.
