Abstract

Covid-19 has caused more than 14 million confirmed cases and more than 6 hundred deaths as of 21 July 2020 globally. However, there is no approved drug to treat the disease. Xanthone is a potential therapeutic option for the virus that have been tested using molecular docking. There were 12 of xanthone compounds and its derivatives which have been docked against two protein crystals, 2GX4.pdb and 6FV1.pdb, which obtained two potential compounds of hydroxyxanthone derivatives with sulfonate and chloro substitution. These compounds are potentially developed into one of the agents for the treatment of infection COVID-19 disease. Based on energy data and interactions with amino acid residues when compared with its own native ligands, namely NOL and E8E, respectively. Energy docking and energy docking interactions are equal to - 43.3057and - 45.5805 Kcal/mol respectively, during interactions with amino acid residues in the form of Gly 142, His 163, Cys144, Glu166, Gln164 and His 41. Based on these two data, it can be concluded that trihydroxyxanthone compounds 4 and 8 with chloro and sulfonate substitution are very potential to be developed as drug agents for Covid-19 disease therapy through protease inhibition.

Abstract

The SrCl2 with natural iron sand is the basic material for making Strontontium M-Hexaferrite (SrM) as a generator of electricity in the form of permanent magnets samples which are doped to make the utilization of SrM more effective by adding metal ions that have almost the same size as cobalt (Co) and cupper (Cu) using the coprecipitation method. The synthesis process was carried out in the chemical laboratory of the FKIP, the Highway Engineering Laboratory, the Faculty of Engineering and the advanced Biology Laboratory of the FMIPA UNRAM. In this study, concentration variations and temperature variations were used during the calcination process, namely (x = 0.0; 0.4; 0.8 and 1.0) (T = 800; 1000 and 1100 0C). These variations greatly affect the sample, where the greater the concentration and calcination temperature, the darker the resulting color in the sample and this is in accordance with the purpose of the calcination process, namely the greater the temperature at the time of calcination, the higher the water content in the sample reduced because the solvent in the sample evaporates. In addition to these materials, the solvent used also plays an important role in the process of making samples, namely using 25% HCl to dissolve, 37% NaOH so that the precipitation process is faster and distilled water as a neutralizer.

Abstract

This experimental research aims to characterize the complex compound M-curcumin (M=Cu, Co, Ag) based on turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn) rhizome as a candidate for photosensitizer in solar cells. The basic material used for manufacturing the M-curcumin complex compound in this study was curcumin from turmeric rhizome extract added to Cu2+, Co2+, and Ag+ metal ions. The results of the synthesis of the M-curcumin complex were characterized by FTIR and Uv-Vis spectrophotometers. The FTIR spectrophotometer test showed a curcumin compound in the viscous curcumin extract, characterized by an absorption wave number corresponding to the curcumin compound. In the M-curcumin complex, the bond between the metal and the ligand only appears in the Co-curcumin complex at the absorption number of 498.77 cm -1. The results of the UV-Vis spectrophotometer test showed that the maximum wavelength absorption in curcumin extract was 430 nm (abs = 0.688), Cu-Curcumin complex lmax 300 nm (abs = 2.573), Co-curcumin complex lmax 425 nm (abs = 1.067), and complex Ag-Curcumin lmax 430 nm (abs = 1.36). The UV-Vis and FTIR characterization showed that the Co-curcumin complex has good potential compared to the organic compounds (curcumin) and can be used as an alternative photosensitizer in solar cells
