Abstract

High purine consumption is a factor that is closely related to hyperuricemia. Apart from that, hyperuricemia is also closely related to the occurrence of increased blood pressure (hypertension). The aim of this research is to determine the effect of consuming a high purine diet on increasing uric acid levels and blood pressure in the elderly in Kediri Regency. The research method used was observational analytics with a cross sectional design. The research results in this study are that there is a significant influence between a high purine diet and uric acid levels and blood pressure in the elderly in Kediri Regency. This can be seen from statistical tests using Linear Regression, which showed a significant influence of Sig (2-tailed) between high purine diet consumption and uric acid levels (DP-AU=0.000) with a value of α≤0.05, there was a significant influence of Sig. (2-tailed) between Uric Acid Levels and Increased Systolic Blood Pressure in the elderly (AU-TS=0.028) and diastolen blood pressure (AU-TD = 0.032) with a value of α≤0.05, meaning the hypothesis is accepted that there is a significant influence Between a high purine diet and uric acid levels and blood pressure in the elderly in Kediri Regency. Excessive intake of a diet high in purine causes the accumulation of purine crystals to build up in certain joints which can increase uric acid levels in the blood. High uric acid levels can cause increased blood pressure through the mechanisms, inflammation of the kidneys and endothelium, activation of the renin-angiotensin system, depletion of nitric oxide, proliferation of smooth muscle cells, formation of superoxide, mitochondrial dysfunction, and activation of the polyol pathway.

Abstract

AI and Machine Learning are crucial in advancing technology, especially for processing large, complex datasets. The transformer model, a primary approach in natural language processing (NLP), enables applications like translation, text summarization, and question-answer (QA) systems. This study compares two popular transformer models, FlanT5 and mT5, which are widely used yet often struggle to capture the specific context of the reference text. Using a unique Goddess Durga QA dataset with specialized cultural knowledge about Indonesia, this research tests how effectively each model can handle culturally specific QA tasks. The study involved data preparation, initial model training, ROUGE metric evaluation (ROUGE-1, ROUGE-2, ROUGE-L, and ROUGE-Lsum), and result analysis. Findings show that FlanT5 outperforms mT5 on multiple metrics, making it better at preserving cultural context. These results are impactful for NLP applications that rely on cultural insight, such as cultural preservation QA systems and context-based educational platforms.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of contextual relevance and hyperparameter tuning on the performance of Transformer-based models in Question-Answer Generation (QAG). Utilising the FlanT5 model, experiments were conducted on a domain-specific dataset to assess how variations in learning rate and training epochs affect model accuracy and generalisation. Six QAG models were developed (QAG-A to QAG-F), each evaluated using ROUGE metrics to measure the quality of generated question-answer pairs. Results show that QAG-F and QAG-D achieved the highest performance, with QAG-F reaching a ROUGE-LSum of 0.4985. The findings highlight that careful tuning of learning rates and training duration significantly improves model performance, enabling more accurate and contextually appropriate question generation. Furthermore, the ability to generate both questions and answers from a single input enhances the interactivity and utility of NLP systems, particularly in knowledge-intensive domains. This study underscores the importance of contextual modelling and hyperparameter optimisation in generative NLP tasks, offering practical insights for improving chatbot development, educational tools, and digital heritage applications.

Abstract

Natural disasters in Indonesia result in significant material and nonmaterial losses. According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), disasters in 2021 have caused 709 deaths, 73 missing persons, and displaced 583,840 people. Post-disaster recovery efforts, including economic assistance, are essential for restoring people’s livelihoods. The implementation of economic assistance after the Mount Semeru eruption in the Lumajang Regency included several stages: preparation, socialization and location survey, group formation, technical guidance, provision of stimulant assistance, exit strategy planning, and monitoring and evaluation. As a result, two livestock groups were established in the Bumi Semeru Damai permanent housing area, each consisting of 10 members and legally recognized by a village decree. These groups successfully carried out daily livestock management, enhanced productivity and welfare, improved market access, and increased the understanding of livestock product marketing. The initiative fostered sustainability and independence, with the groups evolving into leading livestock centers specializing in goats in the Lumajang Regency. Critical factors supporting sustainability included a sufficient supply of animal feed that met nutritional requirements. This economic assistance program played a vital role in revitalizing the local economy by utilizing local commodities, forming community-based economic institutions, and strengthening local capacities through a disaster risk reduction approach. In addition, the program secured local government and stakeholder support, contributing to long-term recovery and alignment with sustainable regional development. This case highlights the importance of integrated economic recovery programs in post-disaster contexts for building resilience and improving community welfare.

Abstract

The Cu(II)-EDTA complex is known to have antibacterial and antiviral potential, but its effectiveness against pathogenic bacteria and dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV-2) still needs to be studied. This study synthesized and characterized the Cu(II)-EDTA complex of CuSO4 precursors, and then tested the antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, as well as the antiviral activity against DENV-2 in Vero cells. This study successfully synthesized and characterized the Cu(II)-EDTA complex using CuSO4 as a precursor through the solvothermal method, producing blue crystals with a Cu ratio of 1:1. DSC analysis showed thermal stability up to 250°C with an endothermal peak at 270-300°C. The particles are 6.31 nm in size with a PDI of 0.076, indicating uniform distribution with nanoparticle size (<100 nm). FTIR confirms the formation of the complex through significant shifts in the O-H and C=O bands. SEM shows a layered morphology that can affect the solubility and release of substances. UV-Vis shows maximum absorbance peaks of EDTA at 244 nm and CuSO4 at 740 nm. Antibacterial tests of Cu(II)-EDTA against E. coli and S. aureus showed that Cu(II)-EDTA had less activity than pure CuSO4. For DENV-2, CuSO4 was more effective with an EC50 value of 77.86 μg/mL, lower than Cu(II)-EDTA 356.13 μg/mL, indicating that CuSO4 was better at inhibiting viral replication.
