This study involved 42 students (22 male students, 20 female students) of three elementary schools in Bandung City. Participants were selected using purposive sampling with the following inclusive criteria (1) aged 10-12 years and (2) following badminton extracurricular activities. The instrument used in this research was an instrument model for assessing badminton skills measuring two basic skills, namely high serve and clear lob skills. Obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics analysis and correlational test using SPSS software version 29.0. The results of the analysis showed that the student skills were divided into two categories, namely good and very good categories. Meanwhile, the correlational analysis showed that there was a correlation between high service and clear lob skills with a correlation coefficient of 0.62 and a p_value of 0.001. It indicates that the high service and clear lob basic skills have an impact on each other in game conditions and are interrelated in basic skills. Furthermore, based on the findings, the high service and clear lob basic skills in badminton of elementary school students taking part in badminton extracurricular were generally categorized as good and very good, since high service and clear lob skills are the skills that can be used as parameters of basic and primary skills to be mastered by students.

Abstract

Character development and student independence are major challenges in junior high school education, especially in this increasingly complex era. This study examines the effectiveness of the implementation of the Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model in improving students' independent behavior at SMPN 29 Bandung. Using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, this study involved 100 students who were observed during three learning cycles. Data collection was conducted through a combination of structured questionnaires and systematic observations. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in students' independence scores from 76.69 to 89.85, reflecting the success of the TPSR intervention. This model has been proven effective in developing various aspects of independence, including decision-making, interpersonal skills, and personal and social responsibility. More importantly, this study revealed that students were able to transfer the skills learned into the context of everyday life outside of school. These findings provide strong empirical evidence to support the implementation of the TPSR model as a pedagogical strategy in developing student independence. It is recommended that schools adopt and implement the TPSR model systematically and sustainably to maximize its positive impact on students' character development.

The Khalaf Islamic boarding school curriculum consists of religious and general curriculums, which are designed in balance between religious knowledge and contemporary science. In conclusion, the Khalaf Islamic boarding schools offer an adaptive educational model in line with the demands of the era and needs of society in the digital era without losing the noble characters as the identity of Islam.
