Abstract

One of the efforts to overcome the limited service capacity of an existing tower is by adding reinforcements to the tower. With the reinforcement, the desired outcome is for the tower to be able to accommodate additional loads, which may include tower expansion (increasing the height of the tower) and the addition of instruments such as antennas and BTS. This research uses a descriptive research method and a case study at the Product Development and Steel Creative Industry division of PT. Krakatau Baja Konstruksi. The descriptive method is a research method conducted by analyzing existing phenomena and data. The primary data for this research was obtained directly from the field during Industrial Practice at PT. Krakatau Baja Konstruksi, specifically in the Product Development and Steel Creative Industry division. The result of this research is the design or visualization of a Steel Plate in DXF format, which is then transferred to another program or device, namely Cypcut. The Cypcut program will later generate the input for the CNC laser machine, which will be used to produce the Reinforcement Steel Plate for the Pinogaluman Lolak Tower in North Sulawesi.

Abstract

This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) employing the PRISMA framework to analyse the development and evaluation of English Language Teaching (ELT) materials in Indonesia between 2016 and 2023. From an initial pool of 1,263 records, 24 studies were included following a rigorous screening process. The findings indicate a growing emphasis on IT-based materials, which accounted for 50% of the studies reviewed. Evaluation practices were observed in 79% of the studies, with 81% of these employing instruments, of which 52% were validated. Validation methods predominantly involved qualitative expert reviews and focus group discussions, underscoring the need for broader adoption of robust quantitative approaches. Despite progress, research remains limited on non-IT-based materials and the application of advanced validation techniques. This study highlights the importance of enhancing evaluation practices and aligning ELT material development with contemporary educational demands. It offers valuable insights for researchers, educators, and policymakers committed to advancing language education in Indonesia. How to cite this paper: Ikhsanudin, Putri, T. Abstract

Vocational High Schools (SMK) aim to produce workers with the technical (hard skills) and non-technical (soft skills) abilities needed to succeed in the era of globalization. Graduates are expected to thrive and compete in the global job market. This study aims to: (1) determine the level of learning achievement in SMAW welding among 12th-grade students at SMKN 2 Kota Serang, (2) analyze the factors influencing SMAW welding competency achievement. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological type and data collection techniques including document analysis, observation, and interviews. The data sources in this study were the Head of the Study Program, productive teachers, and 12 students from classes XII TPL 1 and TPL 2. The results of the study indicate that students' competency achievement, particularly in terms of theoretical mastery, is still relatively low. Conversely, students' practical skills showed better results, especially in steel plate welding activities. However, in underhand welding positions according to the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), both theoretical understanding and practical skills still need to be improved. In terms of visual inspection of welding results, most students have understood the basic theory and are able to identify several types of welding defects, although their understanding of international standards such as ISO 5817 is not yet optimal. Factors influencing competency achievement include the quality of teaching methods, student motivation and discipline, and the availability of practical facilities, particularly limited equipment. Overall, students' competency achievement in SMAW welding is not yet fully optimal and still requires improvement, both in cognitive and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

Vocational education requires teachers to possess professional competencies that are relevant to industrial developments, including skills in weld inspection. However, most vocational high school (SMK) teachers still face limitations in understanding inspection procedures based on international standards. This condition creates a gap between the teaching process and the needs of industry, which emphasizes weld quality. Therefore, a systematic training program is needed to improve the quality of welding instruction in vocational schools. This activity aimed to strengthen the competencies of vocational school teachers in conducting weld inspections according to the American Welding Society (AWS) standards. The methods included needs assessment, delivery of theoretical materials, practice of visual inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT), as well as process and outcome evaluation. The training was implemented in a participatory manner through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice with experienced instructors. The results indicated that teachers gained better conceptual understanding of weld inspection standards. Moreover, their technical skills in visual inspection and the application of NDT methods improved significantly. Process evaluation showed active participation and high enthusiasm among participants, while outcome evaluation demonstrated high levels of satisfaction with the instructors’ competence and the relevance of the materials to school practices. Overall, the training effectively bridged teachers’ competency gaps and enhanced the relevance of vocational learning to industry standards.
