Abstract

Carbon nanodots (Cdots) are a type of semiconductor carbon-based nanomaterial that is gaining popularity due to its excellent characteristics (e.g., biocompatibility, unique optical properties, low cost, eco-friendly, and high stability). In terms of physicochemical properties for an environmentally friendly sensor application, this material also has an excellent ability to detect heavy metal ions in the biosphere. In this study, we proposed a comprehensive optical characterization to examine the sensitivity of the Cdots probe for three heavy metal ions (i.e., Mn, Pb, and Cr ions) and compare the performance. The results of the experiment revealed that each heavy metal ion reacted differently to the physical properties of Cdots. With the addition of Cr, Mn, and Pb metal ions from the original Cdot solution, which is only 1.45 ns, the lifetime of quenched Cdots is 2.55 ns, 3.15 ns, and 2.15 ns, respectively, according to the TRPL experiments. With additional Cr, Mn, and Pb discovered, the intensity of PL dropped by 5.7%, 14.2%, and 21.4%, respectively. Among these various heavy metal ions, Pb ions show the most affected by the quenching effect in Cdots-based photoluminescence, FTIR, and ultraviolet-visible light absorption characterization. Based on the results of three heavy metal ion experiments, this study can be implemented as the heavy metal ion sensor-based luminescence quenching effect of Cdots.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a global health problem, and there is even an increase in cases of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in the world. Therefore, research is needed that can find new anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) that are more effective for tuberculosis treatment. In this study, the effect of (-)-epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG) of tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) combined with the first-line OAT will be observed, in order to find out whether EGCG has anti-tuberculosis activity and can increase the potential of first-line OAT in-vitro. The anti-tuberculosis activity of EGCG was determined by broth dilution method using Middlebrook 7H9 media at concentration of 50, 100, 150, dan 200 ppm, then the potential of first-line OAT before and after combined with the EGCG was observed. The results showed that the activity of EGCG at concentration 50 ppm and 100 ppm could inhibit the Mycobacterium tuberculosis growth by 80%, at concentration 150 ppm by 90%, and at concentration 200 ppm by 100%. First-line OAT activity before combined with EGCG was ≥ 90% at 5 ppm rifampicin, 0.5 ppm isoniazid, 50 ppm pyrazinamide, and 5 ppm ethambutol. Whereas after combined with EGCG, the potential of each drug increased, marked by anti-tuberculosis activity achieved ≥ 90% at lower concentrations, i.e. rifampicin 0.5 ppm, isoniazid 0.25 ppm, pyrazinamide 20 ppm, and ethambutol 2 ppm. These results indicated that the potential of each first-line OAT increases after being combined with EGCG, and EGCG has potentiation effect when combined with those drugs. In conclusion, EGCG can increase the first-line OAT activity

Abstract

Semakin meningkatnya perhatian dalam bioremediasi adalah penggunaan biostimulan yang dapat meningkatkan aktivitas mikroorganisme dalam tanah dan mempercepat proses degradasi kontaminan. Bioremediasi adalah proses biologis yang melibatkan penggunaan mikroorganisme, tanaman, atau enzim untuk mendekomposisi, menetralkan, atau menghilangkan kontaminan dari lingkungan tercemar, terutama dari tanah, air, dan udara. Bioremediasi secara in-situ adalah biodegradasi oleh mikroba pada kontaminasi dalam matriks tanah bawah permukaan dan dapat diolah di lokasi terjadinya cemaran. Bioremediasi secara ex-situ memerlukan penggalian tanah yang terkontaminasi dan dilakukan di luar lokasi terjadinya cemaran. Teknik ex-situ tidak digunakan pada tanah yang berada di pusat kota ataupun di bawah bangunan, karena membutuhkan ruang penggalian yang cukup besar. Cemaran tanah dapat didefinisikan sebagai suatu zat dalam tanah pada konsentrasi yang lebih tinggi dari biasanya oleh bahan limbah yang memiliki dampak merugikan kesehatan manusia dan ekosistem. Bahan limbah umumnya dibuang ke perairan sebagai cairan, di mana sebagian dapat larut, sementara yang lainnya dapat mengendap di permukaan tanah, kemudian meresap ke dalam dan mencemari tanah. Cemaran kemudian dapat bergerak lebih dalam ke lapisan tanah melalui proses perkolasi, yang bergerak dari lokasi dengan konsentrasi tinggi ke konsentrasi lebih rendah. Pergerakan cemaran melalui perkolasi dapat menyebabkan pencemaran air tanah, yang merupakan sumber vital bagi banyak ekosistem dan pemukiman manusia. Biostimulan Organic Waste (BOW) berbahan baku sampah organik pasar memiliki nilai unsur-unsur C-organik, N, P dan K yang tinggi. Nilai unsur-unsur telah memenuhi persyaratan teknis minimal pupuk cair organik dan pembenah tanah.

Abstract

Komponen makanan telah dikenal memberikan fungsi perlindungan terhadap benda asing yang mengakibatkan masalah kesehatan bagi masyarakat. Mikronutrien seperti vitamin dan mineral sangat penting bagi tubuh manusia dan kebutuhan hariannya harus dipenuhi melalui sumber makanan. Jika kebutuhan harian tidak terpenuhi karena beberapa kondisi, maka diperlukan tambahan suplemen makanan. Beberapa vitamin dan mineral berfungsi sebagai imunomodulator dan melindungi respons imun inang, sehingga mencegah penurunan daya tahan tubuh akibat serangan patogen. Berdasarkan acuan berbagai penelitian, artikel ini membahas fungsi suplemen vitamin dan mineral sebagai imunomodulator dalam meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh melalui sistem imun dan mekanisme kerja yang memperantarai fungsi ini. Kekurangan vitamin dan mineral dapat menyebabkan penurunan kinerja sistem imun, yang menjadi penyebab utama keadaan patologis dan imunologis yang tidak menguntungkan. Dari berbagai hasil penelitian secara in vitro dan in vivo dapat disimpulkan bahwa mikronutrien utama yang berperan dalam respons imun, yaitu: vitamin A, C, D, E, B6, B12, folat, dan mineral seng, zat besi, tembaga, dan selenium, dapat meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh terhadap infeksi.  Kekurangan asupan harian mikronutrien dari makanan dapat diatasi dengan memanfaatkan suplemen makanan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Most pre-school students sometimes face some difficulties to convey their intended meaning to the listener. This is due to the students’ insufficient communicative competence. The lack of communicative competence then arises the communication strategies (CSs) to communicate effectively. It is, therefore, important to investigate the communication strategies used by beginner students in language classroom interaction. The research was to find out the kinds of communication strategies used by the students in classroom interaction. It employed qualitative research. The participants were the students of TK Mulia Bhakti Makassar. There were two classes, TK A and TK B. TK A consisted of 12 students and TK B consisted of 9 students. The data were obtained through classroom observation. The findings showed that six kinds of communication strategies mostly appeared. Those were topic avoidance, message abandonment, word coinage, appeal for assistance, circomlocution, and mime. Keywords: Beginner, communication, communication strategies, classroom interaction, foreign language teaching

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendalami pentingnya tentang penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia yang tepat berdasarkan etika berbahasa pada siswa di UPT SPF SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. Bahasa Indonesia yang digunakan secara tepat, baik secara tata bahasa maupun etika, sangat penting dalam membentuk karakter dan memperkuat komunikasi secara efektif dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman siswa UPT SPF SMP Negeri 26 Makassar mengenai penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia yang tepat masih terbatas, terutama terkait dengan aspek etika berbahasa dalam interaksi sosial. Tak hanya itu, adanya kesenjangan antara pengetahuan yang diajarkan di sekolah dan praktik penggunaan berbahasa dalam keseharian mempengaruhi tingkat kesadaran siswa dalam berbahasa dengan tepat. Pengabdian ini juga menemukan bahwa penyuluhan dan pembelajaran yang intensif mengenai etika berbahasa, baik dalam konteks formal maupun informal, dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa untuk menggunakan bahasa sesuai dengan kaidah-kaidah Bahasa Indonesia yang tepat. Oleh sebab itu, pembelajaran etika berbahasa di sekolah perlu diperkuat melalui berbagai metode, seperti diskusi, simulasi, dan pemberian contoh konkrit dalam keseharian, guna menciptakan generasi muda yang tidak hanya fasih dalam berbahasa, tetapi juga memiliki kesadaran sosial dalam berkomunikasi.

Abstract

Graphene oxide is a two-dimensional substance that shares the same structure as graphene and can be produced using several methods. The difficulty for green technology lies in developing a cost-effective and efficient method to produce graphene and graphene oxide without relying on chemical processes. A highly sustainable technology involves the use of a laser diode, which is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly. This technique produces a material known as laser-induced graphene/graphene oxide (LIG/LIGO). From a commercial standpoint, the laser diode is typically purchased without an electronic stabilizer component. Nevertheless, laser stability is crucial for the production process of LIG/LIGO. The objective of our study is to examine the impact of laser current management on the production of graphene on a polyimide (PI) sheet utilizing a 450 nm diode laser. The laser controller we utilize is the National Instruments (NI) PXIe-1085 device. The optical power of the laser diode was measured between 0.21 and 0.79 W. After the laser current was stabilized, the power slightly shifted, ranging from 0.18 to 0.86 W. Both experiments were conducted with a current range of 0.3 to 1 A. Before regulation, the laser diode experiences current fluctuations in the range of around 0.01 to 0.03 A. The study findings highlight the significance of laser current management in manufacturing LIG/LIGO by ensuring a consistent and precise laser power output, hence minimizing flaws in the final product. However, the analysis reveals that graphene oxide is the predominant yield in this characterization. This fact is caused by the presence of a graphene layer not exposed to the surface during measurement. This approach provides several benefits, such as the capacity to produce graphene/GO in a targeted, non-chemical, and fast manner, as well as its potential for diverse applications.

Abstract

Background: The impact of continuous irregular menstrual cycles can cause reproductive system disorders which can be associated with an increased risk of various diseases such as ovarian cancer, breast cancer and infertility. In general, menstrual cycle disorders in women are caused by work fatigue for working women. Research Objective: To determine the relationship between work fatigue and the menstrual cycle of Sleman Police Women in 2023 Research Method: The research approach used in this research is cross-sectional. The population in this study was 100 policewomen from the Sleman Police. The sample required is 51 respondents. The sampling technique for respondents used a simple random sampling technique. The instrument in this research was to use a questionnaire. Researchers used the Chi Square test Research Results: The results of statistical tests show that the P value = 0.015 means p value < ∝ (0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between work fatigue and the menstrual cycle in Sleman Police Women in 2023. From the analysis results, the OR value is 5.333, meaning that work fatigue is mild 5.3 times more likely to experience regular menstrual cycles compared to heavy work fatigue. Conclusions and Suggestions: There is a relationship between work fatigue and the menstrual cycle in Sleman Police Women in 2023. It is hoped that the Sleman Police will take into account workers' rest time to minimize the occurrence of work fatigue so that they can increase work productivity.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Medication adherence is the patient's behavior in taking medication according to the recommendations of the service provider that have been mutually agreed upon regarding the type of drug, dose, time, and frequency of taking the drug. The level of education and family support are factors that cause medication adherence.This study aims to determine the relationship between education level and family support on medication adherence in hypertensive patients at the Suradita Clinic, Tangerang Regency, Banten in 2024. This type of research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all hypertensive patients who were members of the Prolanis group at the Suradita Clinic. The sample in the study was 116 people. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with inclusion criteria, namely hypertensive patients with a duration of treatment >6 months and receiving pharmacological antihypertensive therapy. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between education level and medication adherence in hypertensive patients (p-value 0.022 <0.05) and there is a significant relationship between family support and medication adherence in hypertensive patients (p-value 0.000 <0.05). The suggestion from this study is for patients to increase their motivation to carry out treatment properly and maintain compliance in taking medication according to the recommendations given by the doctor. Keywords: Hypertension, Compliance, Education Level, Family Support  ABSTRAK Kepatuhan minum obat adalah perilaku pasien dalam minum obat sesuai dengan anjuran pemberi layanan yang telah disepakati bersama sehubungan dengan jenis obat, dosis, waktu, dan frekuensi minum obat. Tingkat pendidikan dan dukungan keluarga menjadi salah satu faktor penyebab kepatuhan minum obat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan tingkat pendidikan dan dukungan keluarga terhadap kepatuhan minum obat pasien hipertensi di klinik suradita kabupaten tangerang banten tahun 2024. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian observasional  analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh pasien hipertensi yang tergabung dalam kelompok Prolanis di Klinik Suradita. Sampel dalam penelitian sejumlah 116 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi yaitu penderita hipertensi dengan lama pengobatan >6 bulan dan mendapatkan terapi farmakologi antihipertensi.. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat pendidikan dengan kepatuhan minum obat pada pasien hipertensi (p-value 0,022<0,05) dan ada hubungan yang signifikan antara dukungan keluarga dengan kepatuhan minum obat pada pasien hipertensi (p-value 0,000<0,05). Saran dari penelitian ini adalah agar pasien meningkatkan motivasi dalam menjalankan pengobatan dengan baik dan tetap menjaga kepatuhan minum obat sesuai dengan anjuran  yang diberikan oleh dokter.   Kata Kunci: Hipertensi, Kepatuhan, Tingkat Pendidikan, Dukungan Keluarga

Abstract

ABSTRAK Antibiotik merupakan terapi yang memiliki indikasi untuk penyakit yang disebabkan oleh bakteri. Antibiotik merupakan golongan obat keras  yang diperoleh harus dengan resep dokter. Namun, saat ini antibiotik mudah didapatkan walaupun tanpa resep dokter. Hal ini menyebabkan penggunaan antibiotik, penyimpanan dan cara buang obat yang tidak tepat. Sehingga masyarakat dapat menjadi resisten terhadap antibiotik. Kegiatan edukasi DAGUSIBU (Dapatkan. Gunakan, Simpan dan Buang) merupakan salah satu cara dalam pengelolaan obat yang baik dan benar. Edukasi ini menjelaskan kepapa masyarakat cara dapatkan, gunakan, simpan dan cara buang obat yang tepat dan benar. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini meningkatkan pengetahuan pada masyarakat Desa Konaweha mengenai cara pengelolaan obat terutama antibiotik. Metode pelaksanaan dalam pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui edukasi ceramah dan diskusi interaktif. Kegiatan edukasi ini telah terlaksana dengan lancar dan baik, hal ini terlihat dari respon serta antusias masyarakat dalam mengikuti edukasi dalam memberi pertanyaan. Dalam hal mendapatkan, menggunakan, menyimpan serta membuang obat yang baik dan benar terutama antibiotik. Sehingga kegiatan edukasi DAGUSIBU perlu diberikan dan rutin dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang DAGUSIBU khususnya antibiotik. Kata Kunci: DAGUSIBU, Antibiotik, Obat, Edukasi  ABSTRACT Antibiotics are a therapy that is indicated for diseases caused by bacteria. Antibiotics are a class of hard drugs that must be obtained with a doctor's prescription. However, nowadays antibiotics are easy to get even without a doctor's prescription. This leads to inappropriate use of antibiotics, storage and disposal of drugs. So people can become resistant to antibiotics. The DAGUSIBU (Get, Use, Save and Dispose) educational activity is one way to manage medicines properly and correctly. This education explains to the public how to obtain, use, store and dispose of medicines correctly and correctly. The aim of this service activity is to increase knowledge among the Konaweha Village community regarding how to manage medicines, especially antibiotics. The implementation method for this service is carried out through educational lectures and interactive discussions. This educational activity was carried out smoothly and well, this can be seen from the response and enthusiasm of the community in participating in the education and asking questions. In terms of obtaining, using, storing and disposing of medicines properly and correctly, especially antibiotics.
