Abstract

Radiopharmaceutical 99mTc-Glutathione has been developed for cancer diagnostic in nuclear medicine. Interactions between chemotherapy drugs and radiopharmaceuticals can altered radiopharmaceuticals performance.  Drug interaction 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) with a radiopharmaceutical 99mTc-Glutathione in mice cancer model has been proven in pharmacokinetics study. The biological half-life distribution of 99mTc-Glutathione for cancer model mice when administrated with 5-FU become longer to 0.340±0.121h if compared with 99mTc-Glutathione. Biological half-life elimination for cancer model mice given with 99mTc-Glutathione is 72.712±2.427h. Administration of 5-FU makes the biological half-life elimination of 99mTc-Glutathione shorter to 17.030±3.459h. Biodistribution study of 5-FU continued with 99mTc-Glutathione for cancer model mice showed higher physiological uptake in the kidney was observed (39.77±2.70%ID/g) for 99mTc-Glutathione has lower uptake on kidney (29.55.3.73 %ID/g) with p<0.05. Based on calculation on cancer model mice with colon cancer compared with muscle, shown target/non-target (T/NT) ratio 2.93 for 5-FU continued with 99mTc-Glutathione has ratio 0.42. Low ratio T/NT may affect to poor organ visualization for cancer diagnosis.  Acute toxicity study has shown drugs safety for clinical purpose. The knowledge about chemotherapy drug interaction with a radiopharmaceutical is important to have a correct diagnosis of the patient on clinical application.

Abstract

There have been a few number of studies, which epistemologically discuss the idea of pluralism and its relation to philosophy. The existing studies on pluralism put greater emphasis on the interpretation of the Quran than its epistemological aspect, particularly the epistemology of Neo-Platonism. Neo-Platonism is a school developed by Plotinus (d. 270) and Porphyry (d. 303) from Alexandria. Plotinus promulgated the idea of The One and the many. The relation of The One and the many is an emanational relation and entrustment. The consequence of this relation is that the many are representation of The One. The author finds that Islamic thoughts, mainly Islamic philosophy, sufism, and Islamic theology have been inevitably influenced by Neo-Platonism?s idea. As the result, those three disciplines highlight the importance of pluralism, which emphasizes wisdom of life. The wisdom of life is a fruit of Islamic thoughts which are shaded with high eclecticism. Such eclecticism has been characterized with an abductive source of knowledge, i.e. an abstraction from various sources to develop what so-called a non-distinctive oppositional knowledge.

Abstract

Sha?rûr methodology and legal implications have been widely written by researchers, but only some researchers elaborate Sunnah in depth analysis. In discussing Sunnah, Sha?rûr mentioned the problems that have serious implications, such, whether all the words, actions and silence of Muhammad is the result of revelation or ijtihâd of Muhammad himself? Sha?rûr assumed that Sunnah is actually the result of ijtihâd of Muhammad himself and it is not revelation. Therefore, definition that has been established on Sunnah (everything that comes from Muhammad either of the words, deeds and statutes) is not appropriate. Dissolving this definition for Sha?rûr became possible because these definitions are not made by Muhammad himself, but by the next generations. According to him, Sunnah is derived from the word sanna which means the ease and flow smoothly. Thus, what is said, done and set by Muhammad is an example of how such limits practiced in space and time of Muhammad. He is not the last and not the only laws that must be done. Based on the definition that has been made, Sha?rûr divided Sunnah into two categories, namely sunnah risâlah and sunnah nubûwah. Sunnah risâlah maintains on law, morals, and good manners, while sunnah nabûwah preserves objective sciences. Further, it implies that the adherence to sunnah risâlah is an obligation, adherence to sunnah nubûwah is non-compulsory.

Abstract

BIODISTRIBUSI RADIOFARMAKA 99mTc(V)-DMSA. BIODISTRIBUTION OF 99mTc(V)-DMSA RADIOPHARMACEUTICAL. Study of biodistribution of 99mTc(V)-DMSA radiopharmaceutical in normal white rat has been carried out. Biodistribution showed a smaller activity accumulation per gram renal (3,8 ± 0,4 %), in comparison to that 99mTc(lV)-DMSA (22,3 ± 0,2 %) at 30 minutes after intra venous injection. Also, the accumulation of activity was apparent in skin, bone and lung. Since 99mTc(V)-DMSA has a short blood clearance time, 1,2 ± 0,6 % of 99m(V)-DMSA activity remained in the blood after 30 minutes from the injection. The mayor route of excretion was via the urine, within 24 hours after injection, 99mTc(V)-DMSA was 2,6 ± 1,6 % of the activity per mL urine.

Abstract

The existence of leprosy or kusta or Morbus Hansen or Hansens disease has been known for years, including in Indonesia. Starting from the discovery of Mycobacterium leprae isolates from ancient bone (about 1.000 years B.C), the archaeological excavations results in East Nusa Tenggara, interesting questions arise about how the development of leprosy in eastern Indonesia is. Biology molecular study would become a powerful tool to investigate the presence of leprosy bacillary whether there are similarities between the genomes of M. leprae isolates in the primeval and the present. PCR examinations were performed on mandibular bone fragments from ancient human who lived 1000 years B.C. discovered in archaeological surveys on the island of Lembata and three leprosy patients from East Nusa Tenggara. The DNA extraction was performed using a kit from Qiagen products and its TTC repeating pattern was seen with the method of direct sequencing. It turned out that the TTC profile obtained from samples of archaeological was as many as 13 copies, while the repetition of TTC in three samples of leprosy patients were 15, 17 and 26 copies. The different number of TTC repetition shows the different isolates of M. leprae between in the ancient times and the present. Further studies are needed to verify the differences in the genome that occur, for example from the study of SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms).

Abstract

Leprosy stills a public health problem in West Sulawesi which has a Case Detection Rate (CDR) around 43.69/100.000 population. Household contacts of leprosy are a high risk group to be infected, due to droplet infection mode of transmission of the disease. A nose swab examination and serological study was conducted to detect exposure of M. leprae of people who live in leprosy endemic area. Detection of M. leprae in the nasal cavity will represent the exposure rate from outside and the measurement of specific antibody is represented the result of exposure to the immune system. Two group of inhabitants (30 household contacts of leprosy and 30 nonhousehold contacts) were involved in the study. They live in Banggae district, a leprosy endemic area of Majene Regency, West Sulawesi. Sixty nose swab samples and sixty capillary blood samples from the same invidividuals of the two groups were collected and sent to Leprosy laboratory of the Institute of Tropical Disease, Airlangga University Surabaya. A Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) was performed to the nose swab samples for detection of M. leprae. The blood samples were examined serologically to measure the level of anti PGL-1 antibody. PCR examination of nose swab samples showed 1/30 positive result in the household contact group and also 1/30 positive result in non-household contact of leprosy (statistically no significant difference, p > 0.05). Serological study showed higher sero-positive result in the household contact group (15/30 or 50%) compared to non-household contact (11/30 or 36%), but statistical calculation revealed no significant difference between the two groups (p > 0.05) on sero-positive results of leprosy. It is concluded that household and non-household contact in leprosy have the same risk to be affected by the disease. The term of household and non-household contact need to be redefined. The possible role of exposure from the environment was also discussed, especially from non-human resource of M. leprae.
