Abstract

In the Merdeka Curriculum framework, teachers serve as agents in implementing adaptive, learner-centered instruction. Accordingly, teacher development extends beyond pedagogical and professional competencies and is connected to personality competence as an internal foundation of professional practice. Teacher personality is assumed to influence professional development literacy, defined as teachers’ capacity to understand, plan, implement, and reflect on continuous professional growth. However, empirical evidence examining this relationship remains limited, particularly in vocational education contexts. This study aims to analyze the relationship between teacher personality and professional development literacy among teachers at SMK YAPPA Depok. The null hypothesis states that no relationship exists between the variables, whereas the alternative hypothesis assumes a significant relationship. A quantitative descriptive-correlational design was employed, involving all fifteen teachers through a saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s Rho correlation due to non-normal data distribution and ordinal measurement scales. The results indicate that teacher personality and professional development literacy are generally at moderate to high levels, with variation among respondents. Furthermore, correlation analysis reveals a significant relationship between teacher personality and professional development literacy, leading to rejection of the null hypothesis. These findings highlight the role of teacher personality in strengthening professional development literacy.

Abstract

Wayang diakui oleh The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural  Organization  (Unesco),  pada  7  November  2013  sebagai World  Masterpiece  of  Oral  and  Intangible  Heritage  of  Humanity.

Abstract

Background: Advanced Mathematical Thinking, AMT, is crucial in higher mathematics education, yet many students struggle to read and interpret graphical representations, indicating weak representational literacy. Ethnomathematics offers a culturally grounded bridge between abstract mathematics and meaningful real-world phenomena. Aims: This study aims to explore tonal language pitch as an ethnomathematical object that can be used to strengthen literacy in reading representations and support the development of Advanced Mathematical Thinking, AMT, among mathematics education students. Method: An exploratory qualitative approach with a mini-ethnographic design was used. Data were collected through recordings of native speakers of Thai, Mandarin, and Vietnamese, visualizations of frequency–time curves, and students’ activities in interpreting graphs. Results: Acoustic analysis shows that the pitch contours of the three tonal languages have consistent patterns and can be modeled as constant, linear, quadratic, or sinusoidal functions. The findings indicate that the activity of reading pitch curves helps students understand patterns of change, gradients, extreme points, and relationships between variables more intuitively. Conclusion: Pitch curves derived from cultural phenomena make mathematical graphs more contextual and easier to interpret, thereby strengthening literacy in reading visual representations. In addition, this activity promotes the development of AMT aspects such as structural awareness, the ability to generalize patterns, and making connections.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines how digital literacy and Indonesian language proficiency shape university students’ patterns of social media use. Digital literacy is conceptualized not merely as technical ability, but as a reflective and ethical capacity to access, evaluate, and produce information responsibly. Indonesian language proficiency is similarly positioned as a key indicator of students’ logical reasoning, clarity of expression, and politeness in digital communication. Using a mixed-methods approach with 75 Communication Science students, this study collected quantitative data through Likert-scale questionnaires measuring digital literacy, language proficiency, and ethical awareness, while qualitative insights were obtained from open-ended responses describing students’ verification practices, communicative strategies, and perceptions of responsible online behavior. The results show that 84% of students routinely verify information sources before sharing, 78% maintain polite and audience-appropriate language when interacting online, and 92% express pride in using proper Indonesian in digital spaces. These findings indicate that higher digital literacy is associated with stronger discernment, self-regulation, and ethical awareness in social media use, while greater Indonesian language proficiency supports clarity, civility, and context-sensitive communication. The integration of these competencies fosters responsible and reflective participation in online environments. The novelty of this study lies in demonstrating how language proficiency complements digital literacy in fostering responsible digital behavior and strengthening students' communicative ethics. Importantly, these insights have practical implications for curriculum development and character education in higher education, by promoting an integrated approach that combines digital literacy and language ethics to prepare students for responsible digital citizenship.
