Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of food price control policies on people's purchasing power at Pasar Raya MMTC Medan. Traditional markets have a strategic role in the local economy as a center for basic needs transactions. However, fluctuations in food prices often create uncertainty that impacts people's purchasing power. This study uses a qualitative approach by collecting data through interviews with five sellers and five buyers in traditional markets. The results of the analysis show that food price control policies have a positive effect on price stability, which directly increases people's purchasing power. Sellers feel helped by stable prices, because it makes it easier to plan their businesses, although profit margins have decreased slightly. On the other hand, consumers enjoy more affordable food prices, although in some cases there is a decrease in product quality and uncertainty about the availability of goods. In addition, the findings of this study reveal that food price control policies are in line with Islamic economic principles that prioritize justice and social welfare. Overall, this policy shows quite good results in creating price stability and increasing consumer satisfaction. However, the effectiveness of the policy can be improved by improving implementation in the field and balancing the interests of consumers and business actors. The government is expected to continue to monitor and evaluate this policy, while considering input from various parties to improve the effectiveness of food price control in the future.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the impact of several independent variables—namely Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Population, Exchange Rate, and Inflation—on the dependent variable, Imports in North Sumatra, during the period from 2001 to 2017. The research adopted a quantitative approach, utilizing secondary data as the primary source. The sample consisted of time series data from 2001 to 2017, sourced from publications by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sumatra. Data analysis was carried out using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method, with SPSS 20 as the data processing tool. The findings of the study indicate that, collectively, GRDP, Population, Exchange Rate, and Inflation have a significant simultaneous effect on imports in North Sumatra Province during the observed period. Partial tests reveal that GRDP, Population, and Inflation each have a positive and significant influence on imports, whereas the Exchange Rate is negatively and significantly associated with imports in North Sumatra. The combined explanatory power of GRDP, Population, Exchange Rate, and Inflation accounts for 94.5% of the variation in imports, with the remaining 5.5% attributed to other factors not included in the model.

Abstract

Finding out how the macro and micro economies affect Indonesia's economic growth is the aim of this study. The problem with the national economy is the scope of macroeconomics. There will surely be difficulties when a country's economy expands. The nation's state governments must address that impediment since it is an internal problem. The problems of inflation and unemployment cannot be separated from the problems of Indonesia's population size and quality due to a variety of obstacles. Of course, an autonomous nation implements its policies to deal with these problems. Whether a policy is successful or not, it is something to aim for. A skilled labor force capable of importing and exporting goods that can make the nation visible to the rest of the world can support the country's economic growth.

Abstract

This study examines the exchange rate pass-through (ERPT) phenomenon on palm oil import prices in Indonesia during the period 2013-2022. The research aims to analyze the extent to which changes in the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar affect palm oil import prices and volumes. Using multiple linear regression methods, the study evaluates the relationship between exchange rate variables and palm oil imports. Analysis results show an incomplete pass-through level, with only 16.8% of import variations explained by exchange rate changes. A correlation coefficient of 0.410 indicates a weak positive relationship that is statistically insignificant. The research concludes that external factors such as global prices, trade dynamics, and economic policies have a more dominant influence compared to exchange rate fluctuations in the context of Indonesian palm oil imports

Abstract

The agricultural sector is vital in most developing countries' economies, especially Indonesia. Economic development is carried out to improve community welfare. Improving farmers' welfare is one of the visions and missions of agricultural development in achieving food self-sufficiency and improving farmers' welfare. Deli Serdang Regency is one area with an excellent agrarian sector, especially rice farming. Even though the rice farming sector is still the primary sector in the economy of Deli Serdang Regency, there are still problems related to farmer welfare. Some issues include fluctuating grain prices and rice production, which must still be optimal. Besides that, climate change and a need for more understanding regarding the technical matters of managing rice plants and equipment must be improved, impacting rice farmers' productivity. This research aims to determine the factors of rice production, grain prices, capital, Labor, consumption, land area, technology, and education relevant to improving rice farmers' welfare in Perbaungan District, Deli Serdang Regency. Data processing uses Multiple Linear Regression. Based on test results. The results of multiple linear regression testing show that simultaneous hypothesis testing of capital, land area, grain prices, and Labor together have a positive and significant effect on the welfare of farmers in the Perbaungan District. Keywords:  Capital, Land Area, Labor, and Farmers' Welfare

Abstract

The high population is not a reason, as a factor causing the increased burden on the government to provide subsidies in various formal and non-formal sectors. Still, the high population can be used as an opportunity for the government to carry out various positive economic activities, such as increasing the standard of living. Community life through growing training for productive workers in the field of entrepreneurship, training to become an entrepreneur both in cities and in rural areas, so, in this case, we support government activities to continue to race to improve the standard of living of the community which in the end can increase per capita income. The Medan Labuhan community has activities in the coastal area that are the center of their economic activities. One unique reason we focused our research on this sub-district is that according to statistical data for the city of Medan, the productive age in this sub-district is very high, above 60% of the total population of Medan city. Method The research used is the population; in this research, people of productive age live in the Medan Labuhan sub-district. The sampling technique used is nonprobability sampling, namely a sampling technique where not all members/elements of the population have the same chance of being sampled. The sampling location itself was the Medan Labuhan District location. Keywords:  Population, Productive Age, Population, Labor
