Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the effect of voltage variations on the power ignition box on the torque and power of the Honda Scoopy motorcycle in 2017. (2) determine the effect of variations in the voltage on the power ignition box on the fuel consumption of the Honda Scoopy motorcycle in 2017. (3) Knowing the effect of voltage variations on the power ignition box on exhaust emissions of the Honda Scoopy motorcycle in 2017. (4) Knowing the best voltage variations on the power ignition box are on power torque, fuel consumption, and exhaust emissions of the 2017 Honda Scoopy. Engine performance, including power torque, fuel consumption, and vehicle exhaust emissions, will be obtained by the maximum vehicle engine if the combustion system works optimally. One way to maximize the combustion system is using a power ignition box. The research method used is experimental. The research data was obtained using a sample of Honda Scoopy motorcycles in 2017. The independent variable used a power ignition box with voltage variations of 14.4 V, 14.7 V, 15.0 V, 15.3 V, 15.6 V, and 15 .9 V. The dependent variable is the power torque using a Dynamometer, fuel consumption using stationary test and road test on predetermined roads, and exhaust emissions using a Gas Analyzer. The results of this study are: (1) The maximum torque is obtained at a voltage variation of 15.6 V of 9.57 N.m, an increase of 8.5% from the standard state. The maximum power is obtained at the 15.6 V voltage variation of 6.63 HP, up to 8.5% from the standard state. (2) The maximum fuel consumption for the stationary test was obtained at a voltage variation of 14.7 V of 4.25 ml/min, decreased by 0.18 ml/min. The increase in average fuel consumption is at a value of 4.55 ml/min. The maximum fuel consumption for the road test was found at a voltage variation of 14.7 V of 30 m/ml increasing to 15 m from the standard state. The average increase in fuel consumption was 24.93 m/ml from standard conditions. (3) The maximum CO (carbon monoxide) of 0.3% at a voltage variation of 14.4 V, down 0.11% from standard conditions. The maximum HC (hydro carbon) is 16.00 ppm at a voltage variation of 15.0 V, down 15.33 ppm from standard conditions. Maximum CO2 (carbon dioxide) is 2.0% at a voltage variation of 15.9 V, down 0.10% from standard conditions. The maximum O2 (oxygen) is 9.25% at a voltage variation of 15.6 V, down 3.23% from standard conditions. The best configuration for the Box Power Ignition is at a voltage of 15.3 V.Keywords: Honda Scoopy, Box Power Ignition, Torque and Power, Fuel Consumption, Exhaust Emissions.

Abstract

The electrification ratio in Indonesia is currently still 87%. This means that there are still 8.5 million residents or the equivalent of 2500 villages that have not received electricity. Indonesia has a lot of potential for renewable energy such as water energy. 7 GW capacity from renewable energy, 66% of which comes from hydropower. The manufacture of pico-hydro scale power plants can be a cheap alternative. Pico-hydro can be applied to irrigation canals so that it can produce small-scale electrical energy. One type of water turbine that can be utilized is a vortex type water turbine. The study used experimental methods. The independent variables are variations in the number of blades 2, 4, and 6 and the distance between the blades and the outlet is 1 cm. The dependent variable of the research is the power and efficiency produced by the vortex water turbine. The data analysis technique in this study used quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The basin used is a conical basin type with the upper diameter is 40 cm, the lower/oulet diameter is 6.5 cm, and the height is 32 cm. The water discharge in this test has 7 variations, that is 1,12 l/s, 1,26 l/s, 1,54 l/s, 1,68 l/s, 1,82 l/s, 1,96 l/s, and 2,11 l/s. This test produced the highest electrical output power of 9.66 Watts, at a total of 2 blades, the discharge is 1,86 l/s. At the number of blades 6 at a discharge of 1.96 l / d is the highest efficiency value of 6.3%.

Abstract

Hydroelectric power is one of the options in utilizing renewable energy. The generators that are made usually use waterfalls. Low water flows such as rivers have not been utilized optimally. This becomes a reference for utilizing river flow by turning it into a whirlpool or vortex flow. This study analyzes the effect of variations in the number of blades and the distance between the blades and the outlet on the electrical output power of a vortex type water turbine. The research method used is experimental. The independent variables are variations in the number of blades 2, 3, and 4 and variations in the distance between the blades and the outlet 4 cm, 6 cm, 8 cm, and 10 cm. The dependent variable of the research is the output power and efficiency of the vortex type water turbine. Data analysis techniques using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the maximum data for calculating the electrical output power and efficiency with a water discharge of 6.34 L/s was obtained at the number of blades 4 and the distance between the blades and the outlet 6 cm, namely 9.72 Watt and 65.77%. Based on these results indicate that the more the number of blades, the higher the electrical output power produced. Meanwhile, the variation of the distance between the blade and the outlet increases at a height of 6 cm and relatively decreases at a height of 8 cm and 10 cm.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi rekomendasi turbin angin yang sesuai untuk pengukuran berdasarkan potensi angin di Kabupaten Jaten. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Sumber data untuk penelitian ini meliputi pengukuran kecepatan dan arah angin yang diperoleh menggunakan mikrokontroler berbasis IoT. Purposive sampling digunakan untuk mengumpulkan sampel. Alat yang digunakan untuk pengambilan data terdiri dari anemometer untuk mengukur kecepatan angin dan wind vane untuk menentukan arah angin. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan kecepatan angin rata-rata tertinggi teramati pada ketinggian 10 meter Di Kabupaten Jaten kecepatan angin rata-rata 0,47 m/s, dengan kecepatan tertinggi 3,38 m/s. Arah angin dominan bertiup dari Tenggara ke Barat. Potensi angin di daerah ini tidak cukup tinggi untuk dimanfaatkan secara efektif sebagai sumber energi angin yang signifikan karena besarnya yang rendah. Dalam konteks Kabupaten Jaten, kincir angin Savonius vertikal direkomendasikan untuk memanfaatkan kecepatan angin rendah. Jenis turbin Savonius yang dapat digunakan seperti turbin Savonius tipe Helical 2 bilah dengan end plate memiliki kecepatan potong 1,906 m/s dan turbin Savonius tipe S 2 bilah dengan penambahan 4 sirip memiliki kecepatan potong 1,8 m/s.

Abstract

This study with stationary test aims to (1) To investigate the effect of using step up voltage on Honda Beat motorcycles on fuel consumption with stationary test. (2) To investigate the variation of the best voltage from the use of step up voltage on the fuel consumption of Honda Beat 2013 motorcycles with stationary test. (3) To investigate the effect of the use of a mixture of bioethanol and pertalite fuels on the fuel consumption of Honda Beat motorcycles with stationary test. (4) To investigate the variation of the best concentration of mixing bioethanol in pertalite on the fuel consumption of a Honda Beat 2013 motorcycle with stationary test. (5) To investigate the best configuration of a mixture of bioethanol and the use of step up voltage on the fuel consumption of a Honda Beat motorcycle with stationary test. Data collection techniques are needed to obtain results. valid data from the tests that have been carried out. Experimental techniques were used to collect data from each of the variables studied. So that the determination of variables is very necessary by carrying out clear research and testing procedures in order to facilitate the process of collecting data from the results of these experiments. The test results on the stationary test, namely the use of step up voltage, there is an effect on fuel consumption, the best is set at voltage of 14,3 V at 3.65 ml/min. The use of variations in the concentration of bioethanol in pertalite has an effect on fuel consumption with the best results using a 20% bioethanol concentration of 4.56 ml/minute. The best configuration was obtained when the step up voltage was set at 14.1 V and the 25% bioethanol concentration was 4.01 ml/min. more perfect due to a decrease in the level of fuel consumption in the tested vehicle.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the counter flow performance of a double pipe heat exchanger using an experimental method with the influence of the flow rate of hot and cold substances. The results showed that the counter-flow double-pipe heat exchanger produced a total heat transfer coefficient of 69.229 W/m2℃. The double pipe heat exchanger produces Reynolds number of 82.17 and Nusselt number of 1.18 in hot fluids, while in cold fluids it produces Reynolds number of 4.528.42 and Nusselt number of 31.52. The double pipe heat exchanger has an effectiveness rate of 116.16%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to: 1) Analyse the factors affecting the damage of medium-sized excavator pumps with type 330LC-9s; and 2) analyse the impact of pump damage on medium-scale excavators with Type 330L C-9s. This type of research is qualitative with purposive sampling techniques. The population of the sample of this research was an employee in the rental workshop of excavators, with with a sample chief mechanic, expert technician, and three operators. The researchers conducted active participation observations. The results of this study are: 1) The factors causing the failure of the hydraulic pump excavators R 330LC-9s are the lack of attention of operators in operations in the field, the use of instruments that do not match their capacity, a lack of periodic service, and mechanical repairs that are not in accordance with procedures. 2) When the hydraulic pump excavators R 330LC-9s have problems, they become low-power, so noise and operational function are not at their maximum. So we need to replace spare parts, replace oil, and regularly maintain both mechanically and procedurally.

Abstract

Minyak jelantah merupakan limbah rumah tangga dan industri pangan yang jumlahnya melimpah, serta berpotensi mencemari lingkungan apabila tidak dikelola dengan baik. Disisi lain, minyak jelantah masih mengandung trigliserida yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku biodiesel melalui proses transesterifikasi. Penelitian ini bertujun untuk merancang dan menguji kinerja mesin BULUK (Bahan Ulang Limbah Untuk Kendaraan) sebagai alat pengolah minyak jelantah menjadi biodiesel, serta menganalisis karakteristik mutu biodiesel yang dihasilkan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental yang meliputi tahapan rancang bangun alat, proses transesterifikasi menggunakan katalis NaOH, serta pengujian mutu biodiesel berdasarkan standar SNI 7182:2015. Proses pengolahan dilakukan dengan variasi suhu reaksi dan tahaoan pemurnian. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari 3 liter minyak jelantah diperoleh biodiesel sebanyak 2,25 liter dengan rendemen sebesar 75%. Hasil uji mutu menunjukan bahwa kadar air, kadar abu, viskositas, dan titik nyala biodiesel telah memenuhi standar SNI, sedangkan parameter densitas dan titik kabut masih memerlukan optimasi lebih lanjut.

Abstract

This Community service program aims to apply a crossflow water turbine in Daleman Village, Tulung Subdistrict, Klaten Regency. This program, conducted by students from the Mechanical Engineering Education Departments of Sebelas Maret University, primarily seeks to harness the renewable energy potential in the area and raise community awareness. The activities included field surveys, system design, turbine installation, and training for villagers on operation and maintenance. The results show that the program increased the community's awareness and understanding of renewable energy and strengthened their capacity to manage and maintain the implemented technology. The collaboration between students, faculty, and the community throughout the program also fostered positive and sustainable relationships. Overall, this community service initiative significantly contributed to achieving energy self-sufficiency and improving the quality of life for the residents of Daleman Village.

Abstract

Currently, the Indonesian people are faced with various problems in terms of waste management, both organic and inorganic waste. Some of the wastes that can be used are palm waste, coffee grounds and HDPE plastic waste which can be used as alternative fuels, one of which is through the pyrolysis process. Pyrolysis is a process of chemical decomposition of a material thermally in the absence of oxygen. This pyrolysis process converts RDF-5 biomass into a liquid smoke product in the form of bio-oil. This study aims to determine the quantity of pyrolysis oil through the best variation of the composition ratio used. In this study used composition ratio variables, namely 50%:30%:20%, 40%:40%:20%, and 30%:50%:20%. The results of this study obtained the best quantity from a mixture ratio of 50% palm waste, 30% coffee grounds and 20% HDPE plastic to produce 200 ml. The composition ratio affects the quantity of pyrolysis oil results. RDF-5 from palm waste and coffee grounds with HDPE plastic waste binder produces a quantity that tends to decrease as the composition ratio of palm waste waste decreases.
