Abstract

Taxes are levied based on legal norms to cover the costs of producing collective goods and services to achieve general welfare and to increase the development of a country. One source of tax funds comes from Land and Building Tax. Refusal to pay, evasion, or resistance to taxes is generally a violation of the law. Taxes are one source of government funds for development, both central government and regional government. If a person has fulfilled the subjective and objective requirements, then he is obliged to pay tax. However, the problem often faced by the government is the lack of taxpayer awareness of their obligation to pay taxes. In this community service, the Indocakti Malang College of Economics team carried out assistance activities regarding reducing land and building tax payments for residents of RT 10 RW 05 whose land and buildings are still leased.

Abstract

New research from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that the incidence of caesarean sections in childbirth continues to increase globally, accounting for more than 1 in 5 (21%) of all births. Although there is a considerable amount of literature on complications following caesarean section, the demand for caesarean section without medical indication and at maternal request is increasing. This study aimed to identify the reasons why mothers choose to have a caesarean section without a medical indication. Mothers may choose to have a caesarean section due to fear of vaginal delivery, concerns about perceived health risks, previous traumatic childbirth experiences, worries about future sexual life, positive attitudes towards the caesarean section, and the decision-making process. It can be concluded that many expectant mothers are not adequately prepared for this process. Tackling this problem requires collaboration between different stakeholders. WHO has recommended guidelines for non-clinical interventions to reduce unnecessary caesarean sections, targeting women, health professionals and health organizations, facilities, or systems.

Abstract

Abstract

Tuberculosis developed differently in each individual. The role of HIV in the disease development is widely known unlike the role of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infection. Therefore, this study is aimed at to describe the role of those co-infections in the TB development. The study employed observational – case control design with two groups, case and control group. Data collection include TB condition, whether latent or manifest, and history of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C co-infection. The study successfully recruited the total of 32 respondents in each group. At the case group, the number of male and respondent is 19 and 13. Meanwhile, at the control group the number male respondent is 10 and the female respondent is 22. The study found that 20 and 12 respondents were positive Hepatitis B at the case and the control group. Chi-square test resulted significant different between two groups (P=0.0455 and a =0.05) with odd ratio p=0.479. Meanwhile, the study only tested one respondent with positive Hepatitis C at case group and one at control group. Comparison analysis found no significant different between groups (P=1 and a =0.05). This study reveals that TB patients are more likely to have history of Hepatitis B 2.7 times than those at the control group with the same infection but without TB development. Therefore, the possibility of Hepatitis B co-infection has role in the TB manifestation, but not for Hepatitis C co-infection.

Abstract

There have been several studies reporting the effect of hypercholesterolemia on cortical thickness, but it remains a controversy. Some studies suggest that hypercholesterolemia can decrease osteoblast activity and increase osteoclast activity. Meanwhile other studies suggest that hypercholesterolemia is a protective factor of osteoporosis. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study to determine the effect of hypercholesterolemia on cortical bone thickness. Method: This study used 8 rats (Rattus norvegicus) that were divided into 2 groups, including control group (K0) that was given standard diet and experimental group (K1) that was given high fat diet for 28 days and all were executed to obtain the femur bone. The cortical bone thickness was measured by using Optilab Viewer and Optilab Image Raster software. Result: The data analysis was conducted using independent t-test. A p value of <0.05 is considered significant. The results showed that hypercholesterolemia had significant effect on cortical bone thickness. The average cortical bone thickness in the control group was 146.92 µm whereas in the experimental group was 124.53 µm, the mean difference between the two groups was 22.39 µm. There was a 6% decrease of cortical bone thickness. In conclusion, hypercholesterolemia can decrease cortical bone thickness of wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus).
