Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of improving students' science process skills by applying inquiry learning with a flipped classroom approach on dynamic fluid materials. This study applies a pre-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects were students of class XI in one of the public high schools in Kampar Regency, Riau Province with a sampling technique based on certain considerations (purposive sampling). The sample in this study was one class of XI IPA students which was reopened by 25 students with an average age of 17 years. The research data was obtained through a science process skills test in the form of multiple choice as many as 20 items that have been validated and tested. The results showed that inquiry learning with a flipped classroom approach on dynamic fluid materials can improve science process skills after learning activities with an N-gain of 0.31 are categorized as moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a scientific Literacy profile on a competency domain that refers to the PISA 2015 framework. Such competences include explaining scientific phenomena, interpreting data and scientific evidence, planning and evaluating investigations. The instrument used consists of 32 multiple choice. Based on the results of the analysis, the validity of the test used was 0.83 while the reliability is 0.76, both of which are high category. The research was conducted on the student class XII in one of the SMA Negeri in Bandung. The results show that the competence of student science literacy still low and need to be improved. Competence explains scientific phenomenon gets percentage 56, interpret and scientific proof gets percentage 58, while planning and evaluating experiment gets percentage 40.

Abstract

The research was conducted to identify the correlation between interest in learning towards students' analytical skills on the concept of work and energy. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with purposive sampling technique of determining the sample. The research sample consisted of 28 people with the characteristics of 20 girls and 8 boys in Senior High School Bandung. The instruments used were questionnaires and tests. The results showed that students' interest in the concept of work and energy was at a very high criterion of 21.43% and a high criterion of 78.57%. The students' analytical skills were in the low criteria of 37% and very low of 63%. Based on calculations using the SPSS IBM 23, the Cramer V value was 0,000 (less than 0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a correlation between student interest in learning and analytical skills on the concept of work and energy. The results of this study indicate the importance of student interest in learning as a provision for receiving learning, especially in students' analytical skills. Therefore, teachers are expected to create a pleasant learning atmosphere to increase student interest in learning and analytical skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the astronomical misconceptions of student-teacher candidates using the Confidence Discrimination Quotient. The research method uses Explanatory Sequential Design, with a four-tier instrument Astronomy diagnostic test and interviews. Participants are 93 students spread across six universities in Indonesia. The misconceptions identified include: temperatures during the summer are warmer than in winter because the Earth is closer to the Sun; tides caused by the phases of the Moon; The moon always rises at the same time every day. This study concludes that most students experience misconceptions related to the motion and position of celestial bodies.

Abstract

This research aims to know the representation of multiple intelligence types in physics textbooks for Junior High School. The data source of this research is the BSE Science (physics subject matters) textbook adapted from 6 books, such as a book for VII grade levels 1 and 2, a book for VIII grade levels 1 and 2, and a book for IX grade level 1 and 2. This research uses using a qualitative descriptive method by analyzing textbooks using by checklist system instrument, which had developed by Seyyed Ayatollah Razmoo and Zahra Jozaghi (2010). This checklist system refers to 8 multiple intelligence types by Howard Gardner (1999). These eight intelligence types would be specified in several activities related to each type. The data analysis result shows that the physics subject of Science in the BSE textbook for Junior High School is more centered around logical intelligence, which is intended for an experiment, collecting data, logical thinking, and numerical calculation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the book has not accommodated the entire intelligence.

Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan bahan ajar IPBA terintegrasi yang mengakomodasi kecerdasan majemuk terhadap peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa SMA pada tema pemanasan global. Penerapan bahan ajar dimulai dengan analisis kebutuhan, menganalisis kurikulum dan bahan ajar yang digunakan serta studi lapangan. Langkah yang dilakukan dimulai dari mengidentifikasi kecerdasan majemuk siswa untuk mengelompokkan siswa di kelas berdasarkan kecerdasan majemuk dominannya, menerapkan penggunaan bahan ajar IPBA terintegrasi yang mengakomodasi kecerdasan majemuk, diakhir pembelajaran diberikan tes penguasaan konsep. Desain penelitian menggunakan static-group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 60 siswa SMA kelas X di kota Bandung, terdiri dari 30 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 30 siswa kelas kontrol. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan sebanyak 53,3% siswa pada kelas eksperimen menunjukkan aktivitas kecerdasan majemuk yang sama dengan kecerdasan dominan yang dimilikinya selama diberikan treatment. Peningkatan penguasaan konsep pada tema Pemanasan Global yang berkategori sedang (<g> = 0,49) pada kelas eksperimen dan (<g> = 0,32) pada kelas kontrol. Efektivitas bahan ajar IPBA terintegrasi yang mengakomodasi kecerdasan majemuk berkategori tinggi (effect size, Δ = 1,46). Kata-kata kunci: Bahan Ajar IPBA Terintegrasi, Kecerdasan Majemuk, Penguasaan Konsep, Pemanasan Global. Abstract The aim of this research was to determine the effect of integrated earth and space science intructional materials that accommodate multiple intelligences towards the mastery of concept gain on global warming topic at secondary school. The use of the instructional materials began with analyzing student’s need, curriculum, and instructional materials. Research taken start with identifying student’s multiple intelligences in order to grouping them based on their dominant intelligences, using the instructional materials, lastly giving a mastery of concept test. Design of the research used static-group pretest-posttest design. The subject amount 60 tenth grades student in Bandung, consist of 30 student on experimental group and 30 student on control group. The result showed that 53,3% student on experimental group have a same dominant intelligence between their activities in class and their identification result during treatment. Mastery of concept on global warming topic gain showed a medium category (<g> = 0,49) at experimental group and (<g> = 0,32) at control group. Effectiveness of the instructional materials showed high category (effect size, Δ = 1,46). Abstract

Abstract The ability of junior high school science teachers in making item question to measure high order thinking skills is very low and relevanless between the items with science competence and the curiculum. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen and guiding junior high school science teachers in the form of workshop. Workshop was carried out through three webinars of strengthening materials (science, learning and assessment, Analysis of Basic Science Competencies for SMP/MTs, and authentic assessment of high-level reasoning) and online mentoring using google classroom and WhatsApp Group for two weeks. To explore the competence of Science teachers in constructing high-level reasoning items, task-rubrics and questionnaire responses from participants to the workshop were used. Nine sets of Science test questions were produced as a product of the workshop. Of the 31 MTs Sains teachers, after the workshop it was detected that most (25) participants were able to compile high-quality science items (80%), some (20%) still needed continuous improvement. Based on the questionnaire, it is known that science teachers want to continue to improve their competence in understanding and constructing high-level reasoning problems. Abstrak Kemampuan guru sains SMP dalam membuat butir soal untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi sangat rendah dan kurang relevan antara butir soal dengan kompetensi sains dan kurikulum. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penguatan dan pendampingan guru sains SMP dalam bentuk workshop. Workshop dilaksanakan selama lima minggu melalui tiga kali webinar penguatan materi (sains, pembelajaran dan asesmen, Analisis Kompetensi Dasar Sains SMP/MTs, dan Asesmen autentik penalaran tingkat tinggi) dan pendampingan secara daring menggunakan google classroom dan WhatsApp Group selama dua minggu. Untuk menggali kompetensi guru Sains dalam mengkonstruksi butir soal penalaran tingkat tinggi digunakan task-rubrik dan angket respon peserta terhadap workshop. Sembilan set soal tes Sains dihasilkan sebagai produk lokakarya. Dari 31 guru MTs Sains, setelah workshop terdeteksi bahwa sebagian besar (25) partisipan mampu menyusun butir soal IPA berkualitas tinggi (80%), sebagian (20%) masih perlu perbaikan berkelanjutan. Berdasarkan hasil angket diketahui bahwa guru sains ingin terus meningkatkan kompetensinya dalam memahami dan mengkonstruksi soal penalaran tingkat tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to review 36 articles from reputable international journals such as indexed by Scopus, Web of Science (WoS) and SINTA, which explains the Effectiveness of Project Based Learning Integrated STEM in Physics Education. The articles selected for review were the ones published in the last eight years, from 2015 to 2022. The research approach used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). This study analyzed the representation of research according to their general characteristics consists of type of publication, year of publication,  research approach and educational level. This study also analyzes the effectiveness STEM-PJBL in physics education based on the results of the reviewed research articles. The results show that the use of STEM-PJBL has a positive impact on cognitive, skills and attitude aspects and that STEM-PJBL can be integrated into media or materials teaching such as modulary,worksheet, the implementation of STEM with robots, as well as teacher awareness. So it can be used by teachers as input to apply STEM-PJBL in during physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of differentiated learning in the Problem Based Learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students. This research uses a quasi-experimental approach with a Nonequivalent Control Group research design. The research sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 70 students of class X in one of senior high schools in Cimahi city, Bandung. The instrument used consisted of 4 reasoned multiple choice questions about momentum and impulses to measure students' cognitive learning outcomes. The results showed that the average value of N-Gain in the experimental class was 0.81 in the high category and in the control, class was 0.42 in the medium category. Statistical results show that the value of Asymp.Sig is 0.00 > 0.05. That is, there is an effect of differentiated learning in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students on physics material
