Abstract

Abstract

Families in the sandwich-generation shoulder responsibilities for children and elderly parents, creating significant financial strain. This study examines how demographic characteristics and financial literacy, encompassing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour, affect emergency fund ownership among sixty sandwich-generation households in Bogor Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through structured interviews and supported by several in-depth interviews to capture socio-cultural context. Descriptive statistics, Spearman/Kendal tau-b correlation, and logistic regression were employed in the analysis. The findings indicate that most respondents demonstrated low financial knowledge and poor financial behaviour, though their financial attitudes were moderately positive. More than half of the families lacked adequate emergency savings, with higher income significantly improving the likelihood of ownership, while a greater number of children reduced it. Importantly, financial knowledge emerged as a positive and significant predictor of emergency fund ownership. Beyond economic implications, the results highlight the socio-religious dimension of family resilience. In Islamic tradition, safeguarding wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl) and fulfilling intergenerational obligations reflect both moral duty and social solidarity. Thus, strengthening financial literacy not only enhances economic security but also aligns with Islamic values of prudence, responsibility, and care for family members. Integrating these insights contributes to a deeper socio-cultural understanding of resilience within Muslim families.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has made people aware of the importance of staying healthy and protecting themselves before the disease strikes. The Health Insurance Funding Educational Campaign is a program designed to increase the knowledge of college students so they can properly allocate their finances. Educational delivery was conducted online via Zoom Meeting with 36 participants. Due to the PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions) program to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the education was conducted in Zoom meetings. The method includes lecture, discussion and assessment by completing pre- and post-tests. This material explains the urgency of insurance during this time. The educational activities resulted in participants' increased knowledge of health insurance and proper financial attribution, as reported by completing pre-and post-tests. The implementation of these educational activities has encountered some obstacles, such as the inability of the event organizers to directly monitor each participant so that they can keep an eye on the process of the event.

Abstract

Pet-care markets are increasingly competitive, making customer loyalty a strategic imperative for retail sustainability. This study offers a nascent integrative contribution by jointly modeling service quality, product quality, and marketing mix as antecedents of loyalty through the sequential mechanisms of satisfaction and trust, a configuration rarely examined within a unified framework. Using survey data from 357 customers of a leading pet-care retailer and analyzing them with PLS-SEM in SmartPLS 4, the results demonstrate that service quality, product quality, and marketing mix enhance satisfaction, which fosters trust and strengthens loyalty. Trust further exerts a direct positive influence on loyalty, while satisfaction and trust operate as pivotal mediators. Managerially, firms should prioritize consistent service excellence, reliable product performance, and strategically aligned marketing programs to cultivate satisfaction and trust as foundations of durable customer loyalty.

Abstract

Introduction: Microplastic pollution has emerged as an increasingly urgent environmental problem, highlighting the need to better understand the psychological and social factors that encourage households to engage in pro-environmental behavior. Grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior, this study examines how microplastic knowledge, risk perception, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control shape pro-environmental intentions among urban and rural housewives, extending TPB by integrating knowledge and risk perception. Methods: A quantitative research design was applied by distributing structured questionnaires to 600 respondents, comprising 300 urban and 300 rural housewives in Bogor City and Bogor Regency. Data analysis involved independent t-tests to identify differences between the two groups, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the causal relationships among the studied variables. Results: The results show significant urban–rural differences in microplastic knowledge, risk perception, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, while attitudes and pro-environmental behavioral intentions are relatively similar across contexts. In urban areas, knowledge significantly influences risk perception, whereas attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control predict pro-environmental behavioral intention. In rural areas, risk perception and perceived behavioral control are the main predictors, with no direct effect of knowledge. Conclusion: Overall, knowledge alone is insufficient to promote pro-environmental behavioral intention. Instead, behavioral intentions follow context-specific pathways, driven primarily by attitudinal and normative factors in urban areas and by risk awareness and perceived behavioral control in rural settings.

Abstract

Background: MSMEs are vital to Indonesia’s economy through job creation and poverty reduction, yet many remain hesitant to adopt digital technologies. Using Innovation Resistance Theory, this study investigates key functional and psychological barriers ranging from perceived value and usability to tradition and risk hindering OFD adoption. The findings aim to offer insights into overcoming these barriers and supporting the digital transformation of MSMEs.Purpose: This study explores the factors that influence the adoption of Online Food Delivery (OFD) platforms among MSMEs in Indonesia, focusing on both internal and external aspects. The internal factors while the external factors encompass environmental influences. Although geographically centered on Bogor City, the findings offer broader relevance, as the resistance patterns identified reflect systemic challenges faced by MSMEs nationwide. By employing the Innovation Resistance Theory, this study contributes to the design of inclusive digital strategies and supports Indonesia’s broader transition toward a sustainable, innovation-driven economy.Design/methodology/approach: This study employs a quantitative method utilizing linear regression to analyze the influence of various factors on the intention to use Online Food Delivery (OFD) services among Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in Bogor, with a sample of 290 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The analysis results indicate that Competitive Pressure exhibits the highest path coefficient of 0.381, signifying that each unit increase in competitive pressure significantly enhances users' intention to adopt OFD, with a t-value reaching 7.632 (p < 0.01).Findings/Results: The SEM results reveal that competitive pressure (β = 0.38) and perceived trend (β = 0.19) positively influence OFD adoption, while usage barrier (β = -0.29) and value barrier (β = -0.30) are the strongest inhibitors. These findings contribute to the refinement of Innovation Resistance Theory in the context of MSME digital platform adoption. Conclusion: The successful adoption of Online Food Delivery (OFD) platforms among culinary MSEs in Bogor City requires overcoming functional and psychological barriers through targeted strategies that improve user experience and reduce perceived risks. This study not only offers practical insights to facilitate digital transformation and enterprise sustainability but also contributes theoretically by extending Innovation Resistance Theory within the context of digital platform adoption in developing economies.Originality/value: This study enhances the understanding of MSME adoption of OFD by examining internal and external resistance factors through Innovation Resistance Theory (IRT). It analyzes functional barriers (usage, value, risk), psychological barriers (tradition, image), and external factors (competitive pressure, perceived financial cost), providing a basis for future research on technology adoption across various sectors. Abstract

Background: The Islamic capital market is essential in Indonesia’s financial system, driven by a growing demand for Sharia-compliant financing and related financial products. Despite investor participation is currently below its potential, the market holds promising future growth.Purpose: This study investigates the effects of Islamic capital market literacy, knowledge of the Sharia online trading system (SOTS), and religiosity on perceived risk, emphasizing the mediating role of perceived Sharia compliance in lowering the perceived risk in investing in the Islamic capital market.Design/methodology/approach: Data from 294 Indonesian Muslims aged 18-49 without prior experience using Sharia online trading system (SOTS) were analyzed using multiple linear and hierarchical regression analyses.Findings/Result: Regression analysis results indicate that Islamic capital market literacy significantly lowers perceived risk, while knowledge of SOTS and religiosity do not have a significant individual effect. Interestingly, when combined, Islamic capital market literacy, knowledge of SOTS, and religiosity collectively lower perceived risk. The regression model explains 16.8 percent of the variance in perceived risk. Furthermore, perceived Sharia compliance is a mediating factor that strengthens the collective effect of these three factors on perceived risk. This interaction explains 25.4 percent of the variance in perceived risk, emphasizing the importance of enhancing perceived Sharia compliance to strengthen the collective effect of Islamic capital market literacy, knowledge of SOTS, and religiosity on the perceived risk of Sharia-compliant investments within the Islamic capital market. Conclusion: most respondents have a positive perceived Sharia compliance, with the highest positive response related to the periodic evaluation and delisting non-compliant stocks. In contrast, the lowest positive response was related to the effectiveness of the Sharia Online Trading System (SOTS) in preventing violations of Sharia principles and the criteria used to establish Sharia compliance.Originality/value (State of the art): Unlike prior studies that examine literacy, religiosity, or SOTS knowledge separately, this study demonstrates that perceived Sharia compliance is the key mechanism that enables these factors to jointly reduce perceived risk. This finding reframes perceived risk in the Islamic capital market as a collective and compliance-driven construct rather than the outcome of isolated individual factors. Keywords:   islamic capital market literacy, knowledge of SOTS, perceived risk, perceived sharia compliance, religiosity
