Abstract

Background: Child and adolescent obesity cases are estimated to reach 49.5 million cases worldwide by 2030. Nutrition education interventions to increase knowledge about healthy snacks in adolescents are important as a form of obesity prevention in adolescents. Healthy snacks quartet is an educational media that is carried out with a group game method so that adolescents feel comfortable in the learning process.Objective: To determine the effect of healthy snacks quartet education on knowledge and sodium intake in overweight early adolescents. Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental study with pre-posttest with control group design. The sample was purposively selected and 54 overweight adolescents were divided into a control group and two intervention groups. Education using healthy snacks quartet was conducted for 21 days from September to October 2023 in Makassar City. Data analysis was performed using Wilcoxon singed ranks test. Results: There was a significant difference in adolescent knowledge with a p-value <0.05 in P1 (p=0.001) and P2 (p=0.000). However, there was no significant difference in sodium intake variables both in the control group (p=0.948), P1 (p=0.170) and P2 (p=0.170).Conclusion: Education using healthy snacks quartet can increase knowledge about healthy snacks in overweight early adolescents but does not have a significant impact on sodium intake of overweight adolescents. Abstract

Background: Elevated levels of Dyslipidaemia pose a significant threat to cardiovascular health. Fortunately, the abundance of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids (PUFA and MUFA) present in avocado oil offers a promising avenue for individuals with Dyslipidaemia to improve their lipid profile levels.Objectives: The objective of this research is to ascertain the potential of avocado oil in improving triglyceride and HDL levels.Methods: A pre-post test control group design was employed, utilizing male Wistar rats aged 8 weeks with a body weight ranging from 150-200 g. The mice were segregated into six groups: N, K-, K+, P1, P2, and P3. Throughout the trial, solely group N abstained from ingesting avocado oil or HC. Conversely, all other groups were administered HC and subsequently, K+ was prescribed simvastatin while P1, P2 and P3 received avocado oil for a duration of 28 days. The data was subjected to statistical analysis using SPSS vr.25. The statistical significance threshold was set at p<0.05.Results: Mean changes in levels (mg/dL) for TG -29.67 (P1), -48.99 (P2), -56.78 (P3) and for HDL 41.75 (P1), 46.35 (P2). There was a significant difference in TG and HDL levels between P1, P2, P3 when compared with K- (p<0.05).Conclusion: Avocado oil exhibits efficacy in lowering TG levels and elevating HDL levels, rendering it a viable option for daily consumption.

Abstract

Kanker merupakan salah satu beban penyakit tidak menular terbesar di Indonesia dengan tingkat mortalitas yang tinggi akibat keterlambatan diagnosis. Sebagai kontak pertama dalam sistem kesehatan, dokter di fasilitas kesehatan tingkat pertama (FKTP) memiliki peran krusial dalam deteksi dini untuk menurunkan risiko stadium lanjut, namun kapasitas klinis mereka saat ini masih perlu ditingkatkan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan klinis dokter layanan primer di Kabupaten Sukoharjo dalam deteksi dini kanker payudara, serviks, paru, dan kolorektal, serta mendorong kesiapan implementasi dan perubahan praktik skrining di FKTP. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui seminar interaktif secara hibrid yang diikuti oleh 243 dokter layanan primer. Evaluasi pengetahuan dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test, di mana 117 peserta menyelesaikan kedua tes tersebut secara lengkap dan datanya dianalisis lebih lanjut. Hasil analisis statistik menggunakan uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan (p < 0,001), dengan nilai rata-rata pre-test sebesar 67,95 ± 15,22 dan post-test sebesar 90,43 ± 18,53. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan seminar efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dokter layanan primer mengenai deteksi dini kanker. Diharapkan kegiatan serupa dapat dilakukan secara rutin untuk memperluas jangkauan dan memperbarui pengetahuan dokter mengenai skrining kanker.

Abstract

The purpose of this workshop was to enhance educators’ understanding and skills in designing and implementing assessment integrated with the principles and learning experiences of the deep learning approach in early childhood education (ECE). The workshop employed an andragogical approach, facilitated discussions, case studies, simulations, and hands-on practice grounded in local contexts. In this approach, assessment is positioned not merely as a measurement tool, but as an integral part of the child’s learning process. Participants included academics, supervisors, school principals, and ECE teachers. The results indicate that formative assessments (Assessment for Learning and Assessment as Learning) and summative assessment (Assessment of Learning) contextually support children's core learning experiences: understanding, applying, and reflecting. Assessment practices were carried out through systematic observation, portfolios, guided reflection, and project-based documentation. Findings highlight the importance of aligning assessment with meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning principles, and of cross-role collaboration in planning and implementation. This article recommends teacher training, the development of context-based assessment guidelines, the strengthening of professional learning communities, and the integration of digital support to promote reflective and child-centered assessment practices

Abstract

Peningkatan screen time pada anak usia dini menimbulkan kekhawatiran karena periode ini merupan waktu yang krusial bagi perkembangan bahasa mereka. Peningkatan akibat penggunaan gawai yang berlebihan ini berpotensi menggantikan quality time antara anak dan pengasuhnya yang menjadi fondasi utama perkembangan linguistik. Tinjauan literatur sistematis ini bertujuan menentukan apakah screen time atau quality time yang memberikan pengaruh lebih kuat terhadap perkembangan bahasa anak usia 0-6 tahun. Mengikuti pedoman PRISMA 2020, sebanyak 38 artikel empiris (2020-2025) dari berbagai basis data ilmiah dianalisis. Artikel mencakup studi kohort longitudinal, survei cross-sectional, eksperimen, dan tinjauan sistematis. Data disintesis secara naratif dengan membandingkan pola temuan lintas desain penelitian. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa screen time (paparan layar) berlebihan tanpa mediasi berkaitan dengan kemampuan bahasa yang lebih lemah, sedangkan interaksi berkualitas secara konsisten memprediksi pertumbuhan kosakata, sintaksis, dan literasi dini. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya memprioritaskan interaksi responsif serta menggunaan gawai yang terkontrol dalam kebijakan dan praktik pengasuhan.

Abstract

Regulasi emosi pada anak usia dini merupakan aspek penting dalam perkembangan sosial dan kesiapan belajar, namun masih banyak anak yang belum mampu mengelola emosi secara efektif. Kesulitan seperti mudah menangis, marah berlebihan, atau menarik diri dari interaksi sosial menunjukkan perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang inovatif dan adaptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran literasi digital dalam mendukung regulasi emosi anak melalui pemanfaatan media pembelajaran berbasis digital. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Subjek penelitian adalah anak usia dini yang mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan media digital. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur dengan guru dan orang tua, serta dokumentasi kegiatan, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media digital seperti video interaktif dan permainan edukatif membantu anak menunda respons emosional, mengendalikan kemarahan, serta meningkatkan kerja sama dengan teman sebaya. Perubahan perilaku terlihat konsisten baik di sekolah maupun di rumah. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa literasi digital berkontribusi tidak hanya pada aspek kognitif, tetapi juga pada penguatan keterampilan sosial-emosional anak usia dini.

Abstract

Introduction: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of metabolic factors, including low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels. Vernonia amygdalina (VA) leaves have been documented for their anti-cholesterol properties. The purpose of this study to evaluate ethanol extract of VA leaves in rising HDL-C levels in the MetS model.Methods: An experimental study using pre-and post-test design was conducted using 30 male Wistar rats divided into five groups randomly. KN group served as the control group. KP group was the MetS model without ethanol extract administration. Meanwhile, P1, P2, and P3 were MetS models and were administered ethanol extract of VA leaves administration (50mg/kg, 100mg/kg, and 150 mg/kg) for 28 days. The data were analysed using paired t-test and one-way ANOVA (α=0,05).Results: This study discovered that administering the extract in P1, P2, and P3 significantly improved HDL levels. Furthermore, increasing the dose resulted in significantly greater HDL levels. VA leaves contain phytochemicals that have impacts on cholesterol levels in the blood. Flavonoids and tannin inhibit ester cholesterol formation. Terpenoid and flavonoid hinder HMG-CoA. Saponin contributes to free cholesterol transporter, reducing oxidative stress and increasing LDL receptors. Lastly, vitamin C raises catabolism levels and clearance LDL.Conclusion: There are increases in HDL levels in the MetS model group receiving ethanol extract VA leaves.

Abstract

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that has various beneficial effects on the human body. The results of cholecalciferol supplementation are varied, and there has yet to be a comprehensive review regarding its effect on animal models. Therefore, this scoping review aims to summarize the evidence regarding the effect of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) supplementation on the lipid profiles of animal subjects. PubMed, Scopus, and DOAJ were searched for original research articles published until 2022. Studies were included if they were experimental studies, cholecalciferol was used as a supplement, and the changes in the lipid profile were analyzed. A total of 260 articles were collected, of which 250 articles were excluded, and 10 articles were included for qualitative synthesis. All studies used oral routes to supplement cholecalciferol with various doses and duration ranging from several weeks to several months. Most studies reported reduced lipid parameters in serum or organ-specific animals supplemented with cholecalciferol. As conclusion, cholecalciferol reduces lipid content in animal subjects and may have a beneficial effect on populations with metabolic diseases such as diabetes and dyslipidemia. Further research is required to explore the mechanism of how cholecalciferol affects the lipid profiles of experimental animals.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Fakta di lapangan menunjukkan sebagian besar guru SD di Kecamatan Kerjo, Karanganyar belum pernah mendengar atau mengetahui metode Loci. Metode Loci merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan daya ingat dengan mengoptimalkan keseimbangan fungsi otak kiri dan kanan. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah melakukan edukasi dan aplikasi metode Loci melalui penyuluhan kepada para guru SD tersebut untuk meningkatkan daya ingat.Metode: Penyuluhan dilakukan pada Selasa, 23 Mei 2023 jam 08.00-12.30, di aula kantor Korwilcam Bidang Pendidikan Kecamatan Kerjo, Karanganyar. Peserta penyuluhan adalah para guru SD dalam wilayah Kecamatan Kerjo, Karanganyar sebanyak 50 orang. Di Kecamatan Kerjo terdapat 29 SD, dari tiap-tiap SD mewakilkan 1-2 orang guru. Tahap-tahap kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat meliputi persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan pelaporan kegiatan. Penyuluhan diberikan melalui ceramah interaktif dan mempraktekkan cara menghafal dengan metode Loci. Peserta menjalani pretes sebelum dan postes sesudah penyuluhan. Nilai pretes dan postes dibandingkan menggunakan uji statistik Wilcoxon (α=0,05). Hasil dan pembahasan: Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang berupa penyuluhan metode Loci telah dilaksanakan sesuai rencana dan diikuti oleh 50 orang guru SD dari 29 SD yang ada di wilayah Kecamatan Kerjo, Karanganyar. Rerata nilai pretes peserta 42,56±21,04 dan nilai postes 62,56±28,11 dengan nilai signifikansi p<0,001. Hal ini berarti bahwa penyuluhan yang berupa ceramah interaktif dan praktek aplikasi metode Loci, selain dapat memberikan pemahaman mengenai pengetahuan metode Loci, juga berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan daya ingat peserta.Kesimpulan: Edukasi dan aplikasi metode Loci yang diberikan melalui penyuluhan dapat memberikan pemahaman mengenai metode Loci dan dapat meningkatkan daya ingat pada para guru SD di Kecamatan Kerjo, Karanganyar.

Abstract

Introduction: Teachers as role model need to encourage perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) – meaning clean and healthy lifestyle – in schools and teach it to students, leading to a healthy environment. Several elementary school teachers in Kerjo District have not been habituated to optimally implementing PHBS. The aim of this community service is to conduct PHBS education and develop flash cards; thus, this may increase understanding of PHBS, then apply these lifestyles optimally.Methods: The community service was carried out by counselling PHBS on Tuesday, 23rd May 2023. The target was elementary school teachers in the Kerjo District, involving 27 elementary schools with 44 participants. Data was collected from 27 schools for classifying PHBS strata, then the participants took pre-test and post-test to measure level of knowledge. Next, counselling was carried using interactive lecture and flash card. The distributed flash cards were also assessed by the teachers.Results and discussions: During the community service, three schools were recorded as sehat paripurna and 24 schools as sehat utama. The average value of pre-test and post-test results were 3.52 ± 0.66 and 4.88 ± 0.32, respectively. This indicates that there was an increase in the average value and PHBS counselling may increase participants’ understanding. Additionally, majority of participants agree that the flash cards are suitable for learning purpose.Conclusion: PHBS counselling may provide an understanding of PHBS for elementary school teachers in the Kerjo District, Karanganyar, also, flash cards are applicable for learning purpose.
